Look at even EA pulling for the little console that could. Now we can wait for a half-assed different control scheme instead of the standard one ported over. No, but seriously I find it kind of cool that they are doing that. I'm still upset about Sega losing the license, but if this control scheme is cool I may buy another football game.

More on madden:
Players will hike the ball by mimicking a quarterback receiving the ball from the center, and then pass it to a receiver by making a throwing gesture with the free-hand controller. The faster the passing motion, the more of a bullet pass it becomes (in previous Madden editions, bullet passes were made by holding the passing button down longer).

Kicking the ball will be accomplished by sweeping the controller up as if it were a kicker’s leg striking the ball. A fast, level swing will make for a hard, straight kick.

The Revolution controller will also come into play when running the ball, as jerking the controller left or right will make the ball-carrier juke to either side, while shoving it straight ahead will make him stiff-arm the opposition.

Yeah, EA's DS output is pretty much the low-end, vulgar, grab-at-a-dollar releases.. and everything I've read from them it seems they're SO concerned that the system is not HD as if the majority of people have or will have HDTVs and it frightens me (something they said about one of their damn Lord of the Rings games) that they're just trying to forgo SD support on their games.. as if what the games look like in SD is of secondary importance.

Wii? Really? Ugh.

"Dude, check out my new Wii!"

Possibly the worst name ever?

Yep. Nintendo Wii just doesn't have a ring to it... at all. Sounds childish when said together "Nin-ten-dough-y"

It's quickly becoming a decent list, especially this far before E3. Also factoring in these are all third party titles. Makes you wonder what will be left, or if most of these are release "window" titles and not launch titles.

Per Gamasutra: Wii details

Details on the disc format have also been confirmed: "Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content."

Once again confirmed is backward compatibility ("The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCube generation"), and downloadable classic titles ("The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).")

In addition, it's revealed that a bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory. The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players "can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment."

Seriously CreatureX, you should patent/trademark/copywrite whatever, that idea. You could become filthy rich!

Reminds me of Start Me Up being Windows 95's theme. I see the ad starting with two WiiMotes drumming to a new version of Donkey Konga.

They were able to sell my mom in taking me to my first concert (Queen) in 1976. She actually sat thru the whole concert next to me. So you are right!

What in the world is Nintendo thinking? That's the gayest sounding name you could have have picked for a gaming system.

I can see it now. The telephone rings and the person on the other end says, hey man, what are you doing? The other guys says, Not much, just playing with my wii.

Can we keep the wii jokes confined to the other thread please? One's bad enough, but we don't need two.

Thanks.

Hmmm, any word on how many controllers will be packed in? Since that flash video and the name suggest two...do you think we'll get two controllers?

Duck Hunt Launch Title
Call me a sucker for nostalgia, but Duck Hunt as a launch title would be freaking awesome. In fact, Nintendo would have a truly killer combination if they could package Duck Hunt with the Revolution. Nobody's launched with a pack-in since the SNES (unless I'm mistaken), and the throwback to old-school gamers would be sweet. It'd be pretty simple really: Throw in some new levels, unlock able Duck Hunt for Virtual Console and a few mini-games a la Point Blank. Who cares if it's smaller than most console titles? It's Duck Hunt dude!

!!!that would be great.

No way in hell.. I mean, it's a nice thought and it does tie into the Wii concept, but we'll still be buying our second controller separate (especially if it comes with the analog attachment or shell). I'm just glad we've got internal memory now on all the systems.. Actually it would be nice if they had a "deluxe" pack with two controllers and a game.
