Any advice on how to get some cash? Also, where do I get a Soul Trap spell?

Be patient. Before you know it, you will have more money than you'll ever need. What I did (and I would'nt exactly call it EASY money) but I just traveled all around killing the bad guys (thieves and robbers on the roads) then just taking all thier weapons and armor off them and reselling it, and over time I had a TON of money.

The only thing I did to earn money was make my way through the Guilds, Dark Brotherhood, and the Arena. The only things I ever buy are repair hammers, and one time I "splurged" and bought the shack on the Imperial Waterfront. I've finished all the guilds, and right now I have 40000 septims, or whatever they're called. I don't even know what I'm going to do with it all.

Ugh, ok so i got to level 13 and decided I was tired of running from the guards, so I started killing them whenever they mess with me. Now, I am level 17 with a fame of 11 and infamy of 17. My problem is I run to pay skrivva or armand christoph and my bounty goes away. The next time I walk out a building I have a 25-40 gold bounty on myhead again. How can I get my infamy down or stop this crazy stuff? The more I fight the guards the worse it's gonna get.

I've seen the Soul Trap offered in one of the Mage's guilds (forget which). The only problem was that I didn't have enough magika to but it at the time.
Here's something I was wondering -- do the dungeons get more interesting? I haven't been playing that long, but all these dungeons are all looking and feeling the same. The monsters are ramping up in difficulty, the loots getting better, I'm gaining skills -- but the repetition without a story to go with is getting dull. I'm losing the enthusiasm for just clearing out whatever I come across, and find myself starting to skip past them when I find them and follow up the quests instead.

if all you need is money go clean out rockmilk cave. I found it just northwest of a little town called water's edge. That is just north west of leyawin.
There are bandits and theives in there, they have tons of armor and weapons that are glass and orcish and so on.

I don't think so, not on all caves. Some of the areas do have stuff you can get anytime. You may not be able to use it, but you can sell it. This cave, I couldn't kill most of the bandits in there when I went in. I tried twice and then I just sat back and watch them kill each other on my next load. There would be one or two left and then I just went in and cleaned up what was left of each area. Most of the items I got were not good for me, too heavy andso on. So I just made like 10 trp frommy leywiin house to the cave.

Since you guys insist on resurecting this thread, you twisted my arm, I will chime in as well :-)
I have long since beat the game, got all the achievements ect ect.
Now I am going back and exploring the heck out of everything.
1. I never bought any of the downloads, but some of them sound really cool, and I might actually do that this weekend. (like the razor weapon one, the thieves den one, the vile lair one, orrery tower one) SPEAKING of the orrery tower. I have a question.
Again keep in mind, I beat the game and did everything as far as storyline stuff, except for those deadric quests. In the main mages guild hall there is a door marked orrery tower (or something like that) and its ALWAYS locked and needs a key, how do I get in there? That has nothing to do with that orrery download does it? Also, without ruining anything for the people still going through this game for the first time, I am at the top of the heap in the mages guild if you know what I mean, you would think I would have access to this room. Where is the stinkin key?
2.I am still trying to find that darn unicorn I keep hearing about.
3.Don't laugh, but I have finally figured out how to enchant things. I absolutely suck, I thought the whole enchanting process was alot harder than it actually is :-)
To the people who keep asking about $$$, just pick up everything you see (that has a value to it) especially weapons and armor, and just take them to the shops and sell them. Keep in mind I have about 480 hours in this game, and currently I have a hair over 700,000 gold pieces.
Here is my question. Is there a way to enchant WEAPONS with a "constant effect"? Do you need an extra super powerful soul gem or something?
I have enchanted some armor and clothing with "contant effect" but every single time I try to enchant an offensive weapon, its the kind of enchanting that uses magic and recharging, and stuff like that. Its gotta be possible because I have picked up weapons in the game that have a little GREEN tear drop thingy next to them on the status screen that shows a "constant effect" instead of that little blue circle that uses magic. Thanks

As far as i have seen there isn't a way to enchant a weapon with a constant effect. All weapons are given a effect upon hit that drains charges and needs recharged.

You were so right about that cave. I searched for it after your post, and I had a TON of fun in there. Also, there were some VERY interesting things that happened in there.
The bandits fight with the other bandits, and it was cool because some of them were the BLACK BOW bandits, so I took all the black bows to the king of leyawin and got some big bucks for them. I had thought I seen the last of the black bow bandits after that mission a long time ago. Good to see them spring up again

Also, as I progressed in that cave, there were dead bodies all over, and one of them was my friend from a mission quite a while ago. I think his name was gro bash or something like that. It was the orc thats hanging around leyawin and eventually you go on mission with him, you find out about his past and the fact that he wants to turn good, then you guys are make knights of white horse or something like that. Anyhoo he was dead in there. This game never ceases to amaze me how NO one is safe, and anything can happen.
Anyhoo, thanks for posting about that cave, I must say its the most fun one I have seen yet!!!!

Got going a bit with the main quest at Level 12, going to Kvatch. Now I'm wondering if I may have screwed myself a bit. After finding the difficulty very manageable, if not a bit easy, playing on the default settings, I found myself getting my ass handed to me in Kvatch. Closing the gate was easy, but the bits in the town were almost impossible for my character. Shamed as I am to say ... I had to turn down the difficulty slider to finish that bit with my sanity intact. I built my character as a mostly melee guy, with some restoration and long range destruction. He just couldn't handle a simultaneous assault by multiple Daedroths and Clanfears with that character build and current level/equipment. Very frustrating. I delivered the priest, got back to doing more guild quests in Anvil, and the difficulty went back to how it was before. But now Oblivion gates are opening up all over the place, along with swarms of Daedra that are a bit over my head (especially in numbers). It doesn't feel like its safe to ignore the main quest at this point, but I really want to buff up my character before doing so. For people that have finished -- can I do side quests with these gates opening up everywhere? Is there a certain level you should be at this point in the main quest? I thought the game tailored itself to your level, but I don't see how designers could've thought the monsters in Kvatch were a fair match for me. Unless the game doesn't favor certain character builds (like my melee vs ranger/thief or mages).

You don't have to continue the main story. The gates that are opening are random and do not effect the story.
I didn't start the main quest till after level 20 and the battle in Kvatch town after the gate was the hardest part of the game for me.

I've played several different characters, and my most recent one, now a level 5, strolled through the Kavatch gate at level 1. My main goal right now is closing the gates, as I have closed 10 at level 5. I think the mid-range levels are the hardest (10-19) gates, as you can't quite handle the onslaught. Once you get into the 20+ range, you should be OK. May I suggest the Black Winter spell that can be acquired in the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary? Hit one guy at range, then another at mid-range, and you should be able to fight one-on-one.

I just bought Oblivion last week, and I love it so far. There is something in the game that really bothers me though. Is there a glitch with the shadows? In my game, I can sometimes see a person's shadow through walls. For instance, if I am on the 1st floor of a house and someone is on the 2nd floor above me, I can sometimes see their shadow through the ceiling.
I have the 360 version if that matters.

I recently finished the main quest. Eh, I guess I can see how one could breeze through that if they wanted to. A bit of a let-down since it felt so non-participatory (especially the big finale). Oblivion-gate closing gets really old really fast. The last few gates I stopped bothering to try fighting anyone -- I just amped up my "Shield" ability and Speed and ran for it, ignoring everything else. And I hated those fights where you had to either protect someone or fight alongside NPCs (which the main quest seemed to have a lot of). It was just frustrating since the AI seemed pretty dumb and NPCs had a way of jumping in front of me when swinging my weapon at a monster ("But I'm on your side!" ... Bah, moron! Stay out of my way then!). I finished at level 25. There was never any challenge even close to Kvatch (which I still think was way too hard for my character level). I accumated over 130k gold -- and there's not really anything I need to buy. This is with me stopping to bother scavenging enemy armor and weapons. For money, the turning point was when bandits start being equipped with glass items. They're light and bring in tons of money. A single bandit cave can net you tens of thousands of gold. Too bad the stores don't have more cool artifacts that one would save up for.
I doing some of the guild quests now, though my playing has slowed down. The Dark Brotherhood is fun -- especially after playing a goody-goody for so much. Ironically, the only "evil" quest I felt bad about doing so far is

I have the 360 version if that matters. There are ALOT of glitches in the game. Dont let that change your mind about the game though, it is AMAZING. I have come across so many different glitches, the last one I found was so bad I stopped playing the game
As soon as I hit the 500 hour mark I get this weird green glow surrounding me and it causes me not to be able to "activate" anything. Like a gate or a switch block, or opening doors when I click on this stuff it just does not work. And once i get it, it won't go away, so then I am screwed! It originally started happening during one of the deadric quests (the one where you have to wipe out all the necromancers) I caught the green glow thing there, so then I started going back in my saves and whether or not I do those deadric quests, it still happens as soon as I hit that 500 hour mark....Anyone else have this glitch?

Is it bad to do the main quest at high levels? I saved the main quest for last. I have finished the sidequests and the guild factions, and I just started the main quest. My character is a level 29 wood elf thief. The siege on Kvatch mission was hard as hell. The enemies are leveled to your level, so there were Xivilais all over the place. At one point, I was in a battle with 4 Xivilais, 3 Storm Atronachs, and 3 Spider Daedras all at the same time. Each of the Xivilais summoned a Clannfear too. Needless to say, that battle was a pure pain in the ass. Did I screw myself over by waiting so long to do the main quest? I think if I had done the main quest at the beginning of the game, I probably would have been fighting wimpy Scamps instead of a thousand Xivilais.

Just get bunch of chameleon equipment and spells so you are like 125% chameleoned. Then even if you hit them they can't see you, you sneak and every hit is a critical backstab x6 hit and run through the story. Even doing this the main storyline bored me after the cool guild stories. My good luck is more along the line of finishing the game before getting bored of the main line. I ended up selling it off with a saved game of 94 hours and all guilds done. The stupid Oblivion gates bored me so much.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead:
I had to swap my 360 due to the red ring, so I lost my HD saves and all. Not a big deal, as it gives me an excuse to start over.
This time I am a melle orc instead of a thief/marksman. The last time I didn't enjoy the main quest so much, and started closing the gates around level 12. This time would it be better to do the main qust first, whil I am low level (2 currently), and save the good stuff for later? If I do the gates now will they be less tedious? Before I got through most of the main quest, the mage's guild and the arena.
THis time I want to finish at least fighters and DB quests, but I don't think I will even bother with mage's. Wouls thieves guild be worth my time? Can I even finish it with a lumbering orc?
Thanks...
