Just double checked the Circuit City ad.
New Super Mario Bros is indeed $27.99 this week and is listed as being available in store after 5 pm on Tuesday. My last final is 4-7 Tuesday, so I know how I'll be celebrating. :D |
I got to play a bit of New Super Mario Bros., and it looks amazing. Gameplay wise, it takes some getting used to, and there were some things in it that confused me, but that was because I didn't get to read the instructions. It doesn't top Super Mario World, but for people itching for new sidescrolling Mario, it delivers.

Have a question.
I'll be flying to Belfast in June. I do not really like being in a plane and I will be on one for 7 and a half hours. What will help alleviate my fear would be some Super Mario goodness. Are there any restrictions on playing a Nintendo DS on a plane?Apart from annoying the passenger next to me that is(unless there is a headphone socket on the DS). There's restrictions on cell phone use isn't there? Super Mario Bros will help me forget that I am 30,000 ft in the air in a heap of metal and wondering if the pilot is sober. I just want to be sure before I go buy one and Super Mario Bros Tuesday. Stupid question, I know, but, I am an idiot. |
Go ahead and play your DS on the plane. No one will stop you.

Another question. I read about people going into a BB and downloading demos for the DS. Is there a memory card that you need? What should I get anyway.I want to make sure I get the best bang for my buck.

Silly question :)
I'll be ordering a Lite in June I hope (I wanted to take one on vacation, but it comes out too late in the US - I'll be away before June 11). What accessories do I need to buy (I'm in the UK) :) Do I need the Multivolt AC adapter (UK plug) as well as the step down converter? Multi-volt AC adapter Step down converter Dual screen protectors (or whatever they're called) :)? |

As a new DS owner, I'm curious, is there a good resource for finding out which games give you full multiplayer with one cart, and which ones give you limited multiplayer, and which ones you need 2 carts to play? From what I've been reading, it seems like with Tetris DS you can play all game modes with multiple people with just one copy of the game, but with Mario Kart you can only play a few courses? Most reviews I've been checking out on a lot of games don't really go in-depth on what you can with one cart vs two. |
I got Metroid Hunters this weekend.. but I don't have wireless!

While it was a no-show at E3.. here are some collected notes on the 2D Metroid DS from Wikipedia.
Dread was first announced in the June 2005 issue of Game Informer, and further details emerged on the magazine's Internet forums. According to the forum moderators, the game was a 2D side-scroller being developed for the Nintendo DS, and its story was set after the events of Metroid Fusion. On September 19, 2005, IGN reported that Dread is indeed in development but will probably not be announced for some time. Nintendo had neither confirmed nor denied its existence. On October 7, 2005, the Nintendo-Next website reported that the project is dead, but did not reveal their sources. On February 17, 2006, the British Official Nintendo Magazine included Metroid Dread in their "Official Release Dates", listed under November 2006, albeit as 'TBC' (to be confirmed). However, on March 16, 2006, in the second issue of the magazine, the game was marked with a vague '2006' release date, although ONM highlighted the ambiguity surrounding the game, and suggested to wait until E3 2006 for some more concrete information. On March 23, 2006, the website N-Sider reported that the IGN editor Craig Harris was asked about Metroid Dread, and his response was that it was too early to show at E3 in 2005, but that it would be shown later this year. This lends credence to the possibility that the game has not been cancelled, and that this could have been reported falsely. |

I stopped by the EB near my work today at lunch to ask about a DS Lite pre-order. Scott the Game Lackey seemed unclear on whether or not these beauties would be in-store on the 11th or not. He said that the listed ship date was the 8th, and I believe he said that they had a listed release date of the 9th in the computer.
What's the popular opinion? In stores on Sunday the 11th? I'm trying to decide if I should pre-order near home or work, you see. :D |
They will receive their shipments a day or two ahead of time and they should have them for sale on Sunday.

Yep, only $25 down at EB. And the lite is street dated for the 16th, so it will be sold on the Sunday.

I have some gift cards and reward zone coupons. Not to mention the $5 gamer coupon for Best Buy so I guess I will forgo a pre-order and take my chances there.
|
Does anyone know if Toys R Us is gonna be taking preorders on the lite? I have a gift card I'd like to use towards it.

Can anyone answer my question about what accessories I need? :) I'll guess I'll need both the AC adapter AND the transformer. |
I don't really think Metroid Prime Hunters works for me. The screen is too small and the resolution is too low for an FPS that is trying to convey this much detail. I can't tell enemies apart from one another and can barely make shit out for what it's supposed to be. The control is alright but they really shot themselves in the foot trying to make a game as good looking as Prime on the DS.
