I would not recommend spending $150 on any Datel product or $5 for that matter.

The control is alright but they really shot themselves in the foot trying to make a game as good looking as Prime on the DS.

Quoting myself to add an extra complaint, the single player game is really set up as something you have to sit down with for at least an hour, it does not appear to play well as an actual portable game (15-20 minute bursts). Since a large portion of my DS time is my breaks at work, this is a problem for me.

Looks like after some careful consideration, my girlfriend and I are going to split the cost on one a DS Lite when it comes out. Definately cool that it's going to have some functionality with the Wii, and the games look insanely fun.

Yeah, I hated that as well.

I've totally given up on it due to a combination of that and hating the controls. I got more use to them, but it's still just uncomfortably to play for more than 20-30 minutes.

3D games just don't work without an analog stick.

I think I may be done with too.. I'll give it another go and try some offline four-player multi-player this weekend to see if that makes it worth it but right now I'm seriously disappointed. Funnily enough, on the other hand I think Metroid Pinball is awesome. Now if we can just get confirmation on a 2D Metroid DS.

Datel Media Player for Nintendo DS with 4GB Hard Drive

Just get an M3 adapter. Plays video, audio, and homebrew.

They take standard memory cards and come in different flavors, compact flash, SD, and mini SD.

I got the SD version a week ago and it's great.

Maple Story, the side-scrolling platform MMORPG I pimped here a couple of years ago is coming to the DS. In my opinion (spending so much time on the game) they have got some serious changes to be made to it if it is to succeed off of the PC (which didn't really succeed there in my opinion to being with).

Anubis2005X 05-18-06 06:25 PM

Stupid DS. Actually, more like stupid lack of discipline. I've been addicted to Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and now Mario Bros. keeps calling my name when I'm trying to get stuff done...dah!

sureAV421 05-18-06 07:03 PM

has there been any problems with stuck pixels on the DSlite screens? I'm looking to pick it up at launch and want to know if I should worry about that.

jediwicz 05-18-06 07:09 PM

On the Lite this will be awesome. Final Fantasy III official trailer.

Up to 29 DS games and counting...

PixyJunket 05-19-06 08:42 AM

Classic Square for you, there was about 10 seconds of game in that trailer.

darkside 05-19-06 03:33 PM

But what a 10 seconds it was.

grim_tales 05-20-06 02:42 AM

Has there been a Europe/UK release date set for the Lite? :)
(Don't worry, I'll import one, European prices are a rip off IMO). If the US Lite is $130 the UK price will probably be £130

The Bus 05-20-06 10:32 AM

I plunked down $25 to reserve my DS. One more month. :)

Brewc 05-20-06 11:23 PM

Local mom & pop gamestore is giving $62 store credit for DS. Would I get more than that for the Red mario kart edition still with the box and all the extras, without the MK game on eBay?

BobDole42 05-21-06 12:16 PM

I'm definitely picking one of these up! I want to get an extended warranty with it, since I'm paranoid that the screen is going to get scratched. Which store has the most generous warranty terms / best warranty price?

Fandango 05-21-06 12:53 PM

I don't see how the screen could get scratched, its a clamshell design.

sdcrym 05-21-06 01:07 PM

It's pretty hard to play when it's closed, though.

My current screen has its share of scratches. The touch screen will get dust on it and then it will scratch when you use the stylus. It is impossible to keep these screens completely scratch free while using them. However the minor scratches on both my DS and PSP are so slight that I never notice them when actually using the systems so I won't be too worried about scratching the lite.

My biggest concern is bad pixels. My current DS has no bad pixels and I tested about 20 used PSPs at EB to get one that was nearly flawless. I just don't know if I want to roll the dice on a new DS. Bad pixels drive me much crazier than minor scratches.

Here's a interesting one, I just sold my White DS import to an employee at Microsoft. The delivery address was to their campus of their games division. Hmm.

I'm serious, but I'm just joking about "a connection" fyi. Just thought it was funny.

msdmoney 05-21-06 08:01 PM

After seeing the difference in brightness between the lite and the original DS I am really tempted to sell my DS and get a lite. I play outside sometimes and the screen can be pretty hard to see.

I never play outside... until last weekend during the garage sale. That's the first time I considered a Lite purchase as more than a passing curiousity. I'll still probably hold out for new colors or a bundle, though.

BobDole42 05-21-06 11:58 PM

I pre-ordered a DS Lite at EB today. Gamestop is closer to my apartment, but last time I was in there I made a crack about them selling used games as new (the ones they open and then re-wrap) and they got pissed at me. I bought the EB warranty for $20 - good idea or bad idea?
