Europe gets the Lite June 23rd, 12 days after us. And they get to choose between White and Black! WTF, NOA?!

darkside 05-22-06 07:33 AM

Well, thats it. I'm not buying a white one when black is an option. I will sit tight and wait until black gets a US release.

Nice that NOA has their heads up their asses once again.

I guess £99.99 isn't *too* bad if that includes a game with it :)
I'll see how much the European one is.

squidget 05-22-06 11:48 AM

play.com has the pre-order i'm thinking about taking the plunge. With Europe getting black, what are the odds of the US getting it too?

Josh H 05-22-06 01:04 PM

Here's a deal for preordering it on Overstock.com that I found on CAG (think it was originally posted on Fatwallet.

1. Go here to get 10% off with any purchase. (You may want to register at FW for 4% cash back, it'll shave off another ~$5 off the price.)
2. Search for Nintendo DS
3. Find the DS Lite and click on it.
4. Click on "Pre-order now".
5. Proceed to "Click here to go to secure checkout"
6. Sign in or register.
7. Click back twice.
8. Check the "Yes, I have a Gift Card or Promotional Code" box.
9. Enter 85704 as the 5 digit code to shave off shipping.
10. Check out and sign in.
11. You should now see the total as $116.09. (FYI, it came to $117.xx for me)
12. Enter your info and purchase.
13. Endure one month of waiting.

I decided to pass as I just can't afford it right now, even at a good deal.

High, it's just a matter of when (Holiday season?) and/or what store it'll be exclusive to.

squidget 05-22-06 03:30 PM

i rather have US black for the download stations and voltage, plus i can save myself 50 bucks.
Patience or instant gratification. It's a hard choice

Josh H 05-22-06 03:39 PM

I'd actually probably prefer the white, with that damn stupid shiny plastic, dark colors just show fingerprints and smudges to easily.

Black would look nicer when clean as I don't like white electronics as much, but seeing smudged up PSPs and iPod Nano's has turned me off the dark colors for this glossy plastic.

The official Nintendo pages don't say anything about an included game. So the price isn't that good IMHO.

mrpayroll 05-22-06 04:32 PM

So for the uninitiated (me), what would be the difference between the black UK version and the US version. The DS Lite plays all DS games, correct?

Will the charger not be compatible with U.S. standards? Will the menu language be in olde English? ;)

Please help a brutha out! :D (Can you tell I would rather have a black one?)

Chris

Setzer 05-22-06 05:03 PM

This is BS! North America gets one freakin color(white) while Europe and Japan get cool colors like enamel navy and black. Thanks NOA! Bastards!

Looks like I'll be importing one after all.

all the games will work (carts are regionless) but you will need a voltage converter for the plug and you not will be able to use the US download stations for demos (like at BB)

Really? Word. I was in the nintendo euro forum and it was said the euro ds will not work in us download stations. Of course no one has euro ds lite to test this theory but if works on the JPN model i don't see why it would not work on the euro one.

Thanks for the insight pixy

Now that I have seen a black DS Lite, I can't settle for anything else. I will wait for a U.S. release and enjoy my old school DS until that point...

lukewarmwater 05-22-06 07:07 PM

Are they even making the black ds lite availible for U.S.?? I remember they were supposed to have a white psp too, but that never happened.

darkside 05-22-06 07:13 PM

They haven't announced it for the US, but I'm waiting it out because I think they will.

pinata242 05-22-06 07:45 PM

The black will hit here eventually. As Pixy said earlier, it'll be either for a Holiday and/or store exclusive and/or bundle exclusive (Phantom Hourglass?) Although, maybe a nice green or gold for Zelda, but I'm getting ahead of myself...

No its not very good WITH a game TBH (in US money its about $200??) Without a game its even worse. :(

lordwow 05-23-06 06:11 AM

I ordered a DS Lite with Mario Kart from Overstock this weekend. $146 shipped for both.

Outlaw 05-23-06 06:53 PM

I'm starting to see a lot of people online preordering the DS Lite, I personally was going to risk it and go launch day to get it at Best Buy so i could get the reward points for it, I'm started to get worried. Well just a few more weeks and we'll see how it goes.

Jtnguyen12 05-23-06 07:15 PM

It easy to get dirty on WHITE DS but i really really wanted the DS LITE so i can play new Super Mario Bros. (I has the game over 1 week old) :(

Sekots 05-23-06 08:12 PM

So do you guys think it will hard to get a DS Lite on release day, I'm going on vacation the following week and want to have one for my trip. I was gonna pre order but I'd rather not.
