Well, Santa came through. EB games got their 5th and 6th units since launch and my Bro-in-laws came in, so I got my early Christmas present. Although my wife lied to me for 2 days telling me it didn't come in, I can get over that. Now I have to take down the ol' PS2 and set-up. Too bad I have to do more parties tomorrow, I will want to sit at home and play COD2 and PGR3!!

Got a bit more $$ from my parents than I was expecting plus a belated birthday gift in the form of a $25 GC to Barnes and Noble (and it looks like they sell games/accesories, atleast online) so I think I'm now officially going to go hunting for a premium system next week. I'm off of work for the entire week so I can hit up a large number of stores every day. I was on the fence before but getting a bit of extra cash tipped the scales for me.

Has anyone tried the Circuit City route as of late? I checked online and it says that they're in stock at my local CC. Can any of you vouche for the tracker's accuracy? I also read on cheapassgamer that someone was able to purchase a 360 using this method but CC forced him to purchase their 2 year $70 dollar extended warranty with the system. I don't think that they can do this and I will try to fight it if they do so. It just seems kind of ridiculous to me.

Thanks remjim. According to that link a CC somewhat near me (though not my closest one) has them in stock. Interesting, very interesting. If I knew for sure they had them I'd probably venture down there but I think I'm just going to hunt around me for the time being. Since I live within 5 miles of two Best Buys, two Targets, a Walmart, a Circuit City, and others I'm hoping I can find one without having to venture out too far.

I've been gone since the 16th (Disney World) and it appears nothing much has changed on the availability of the 360. Is this correct?

Things seens to be a little better now. Stock is slowly rolling in, or at least seems to be from what I have been reading.

Eh, everything still out of stock at Circuit City's near me.

I think this shortage is going to continue for awhile, as I'm sure a lot of people who couldn't get one for Xmas will snatch one up the second it lands on a shelf, at least for a month or two.

And since I refuse to buy a bundle, I'm pretty much SOL ordering one online anytime soon.

Thanks a pantload Microsoft.

God I vasilate so much on this thing. I went over to my brother's house tonight to let the dog out since he's in NY with his fiancee. I decided to play a little bit of 360 while I was there. He has PD Zero, PG3, and Madden (and a rental copy of Gun). I never cared for the PG series, so I played some PD Zero (I've played it before with him online so I played some single player). It's a good game and the graphics are great even on his non HD TV but I'm just not sure there are enough games out now or for the next few months that I'm interested in to justify the cash. One of my big factors for wanting one now is wanting to play Halo and Halo 2 again since I sold my XBox a while ago, but that shouldn't be my big reason. I have a little bit of interest in Live (used it occasionally on the regular XBox but not a whole lot) but I'm looking for predominantly single player games. PD Zero was good but not a system seller to me and the Kameo demo was pretty neat but I just don't know.
Any hot titles coming out in say the next month? I know DOA4 is coming out but that seems more like a game I'd want to rent insted of purchase. I swear I can't remember the last time I've changed my mind so often about buying something

I don't know if this is the correct thread, but the Target on the South-side of Lansing had a stack of HDs if anybody is still in need of one.

I went to the Kmart over there to try and score a $50 wireless but they did not have 1 thing for 360, even the cardboard display was gone!

I was out at a bunch of stores yesterday doing some other shopping and also seeing if they had any 360s. Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and Circuit City were all completely wiped out. Yesterday was a busier shopping day than I thought it would be, the stores are packed. I'm took the whole week off of work and I gues alot of others must have too.

I am going to Wal-Mart in a few, I'll see if they have any at mine, and ask about other Wal-Mart's. Any info that might help some of you guys that are looking.

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on December 28, 2005 to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
Well, if anyone can translate that for me...

I think it means that the 360 I ordered is finally arriving!

Package Activity Date/Time
ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL TO POSTAL FACILITY - DDU FRONTIER - 786649998 12/28/2005 12:00 AM
DEPARTED - APX IRVING 12/27/2005 10:00 PM
SCANNED AT INTERMEDIATE HUB - APX IRVING 12/27/2005 2:50 PM
DEPARTED - APX NORTH EAST 12/23/2005 7:57 AM
SCANNED AND ENROUTE - APX NORTH EAST 12/21/2005 7:06 PM
LOAD RECEIVED - APX NORTH EAST 12/21/2005 4:15 PM
Not bad for an "in stock" Kmart order placed on 12/16 that was supposed to never ship.

ATTN: CENTRAL TEXAS OTTERS
If anyone is still looking for a 360, and wants this one, email me through my profile. My cost on the item was:

Merchandise Total: $399.99
Gift Wrap Total: $0.00
Shipping Total: $7.67
Sales Tax Total: $33.00
Order Total: $440.66

Pick it up convenient to me (I work near Riata, live near Dell), and it's yours for cost, if you have over 50 posts... $450 if you don't.

I'd really prefer not wasting time/money reshipping it to someone else. If I don't find someone who wants it, I'll probably craigslist it tomorrow/Friday (for a little bit more than cost )...

I read this article yesterday. It's about how some retail stores are closing because of poor holiday sales. What's interesting is the following:

Although the national economy is growing at a healthy 4.1% rate based on third-quarter gross domestic product, there was little to ignite shoppers' interest this year, Beemer said.

There was no must-have toy or hot apparel to corral shoppers. Moreover, Microsoft's new Xbox 360 video game platform actually worked to damp sales, he said.

Because it was not widely available, shoppers held back from buying games for the older Xbox console, as well as rival systems and games, as they waited to see how the market sorts out this year, Beemer said.

"Had there been 1 million Xboxes to sell rather than 50,000, the season might have turned out differently," he said.

There's some pretty good ones in there. I'm going to try to get a report up before we leave for the weekend.

YGM... we can figure out the logistics of the transfer.

I saw that yesterday, too! But he should get his facts straight. There were more than 50,000 XBox 360's sold, probably close to 400,000?

Chris

edited to add : This was just for November

325,902 Xbox 360s were sold in the United States in November (Core:Premium ratio unknown).

Did you officially cancel your order from Kmart when you called them?

Mine BigDave's should be on my doorstep today... You and I ordered at the same time (actually, my order was probably later since I was waiting to see if rocketsauce wanted to pay for it himself and have it shipped directly to him).
