Checked two Costcos again today and came away with nothing. However, when I talked to one on Saturday (12/10), I asked the woman if they had any in stock and she said, "No, but it shows that we'll be getting more in on the 12th, which is tomorrow, so I don't know."

So she obviously had her dates mixed up, thinking that Saturday was the 11th. I'll definitely be there at 10:00 am sharp tomorrow to see if they got any in. I'm not getting my hopes up anymore at this point. The hunt is becoming less fun each day that goes by, but I'm not quite through just yet.

Gallant Pig 12-11-05 10:59 PM

If it shows they are getting them in stock, I would trust that. They seem to be the only place actually getting any in.

Li 12-11-05 11:14 PM

Seems most of the people looking for one in this thread have been able to get one via Costco... and my only hope is waiting 12 hours in the cold this weekend... :(

It sounded like there were a few in Ohio CostCo's that are closer than a 12 hour drive. ;)

Well, since I have stuck out so far, I guess I will be joining the lines outside of Best Buy .. Do you think getting there Saturday night around 11pm or so is too late?

probably. you're probably going to have to show up at 2:30 in the afternoon or something 11 is way to late you'll be like 150th in line by that time. if its going to be another launch type thing you'd probably wanna show up a day earlier to set up your tent.

nickdawgy 12-12-05 08:20 AM

I can't believe there's gonna be more idiots (no offense to anyone in this thread) sitting outside Best Buy this weekend waiting for the 360. Sure, you might get one, but waiting in line for 12+ hours in the freezing cold is insane to me, even if I was guaranteed to get a 360.

Best Buy is loving this. How often do they have people camping out twice in a months time for a hot item? Chances are they'll have other offers, and people will be spending lots of cash, especially if they get a 360 (since they'll be in a good mood).

silentbob007 12-12-05 08:24 AM

It's too bad there can't be line enforcement. Waiting outside sounds bad enough. Waiting outside, then having the 3 people in front of you call their 30 friends sounds worse.

pdutta2000 12-12-05 08:40 AM

I'm not really sure how much of a "Launch" this will be at Best Buy. There won't be news coverage of the event. I doubt Microsoft will be running ads for this re-launch. Furthermore, most people have been hearing come back in February for the last 4 weeks and have probably already decided to buy other gifts. That just leaves the people who read this board and others like it, which is a lot but will not be anywhere near the number of people who tried for a system on Nov 22. I plan on getting to my Best Buy right at the opening. The feezing cold weather will also help keep people at home. 10 degree weather can stop even the most hardcore gamers. I'll also hope for some freezing rain and lots of wind.

I just scored one at Target in Chicago this morning. After going there every single morning since the launch, they received 7...and I was #4.

Was also making small talk with the guy behind the counter...joking with him that I should have just grabbed an application since I was there so often...and he tells me, "this is supposed to be hush-hush, but we should be getting 6 or 7 every day for the rest of the year."

If he's right, then that's positive news for everyone!

Michael Corvin 12-12-05 09:11 AM

So are you going to head back to see if he is right? :)

Best Buy is supposed to run a full-page ad in the newspaper to advertise this relaunch. Not to mention, school will be out. Really doesn't sound like a whole lotta fun. :(

Yeah, I was looking to get a second one for my brother or EBAY ;) Nothing in MI. I checked two CostCo's and no luck. I think someone in Ann Arbor got one at Target. My local GameRush had two in also, but both sold QUICK. (1 was a pre-order)

I may check again today, we'll see...not a dire need for myself. As I said, not for me....looking for some extra cash or for a friend.

MrPink 12-12-05 09:50 AM

2 Target's near me said that they had some this morning but sold out about an hour ago.

Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. No way is that store going to receive daily shipments of 360s.

DamingR 12-12-05 10:53 AM

According to several tipsters, Circuit City has just received a new shipment of Xbox 360s which are available to be specially ordered on a first come, first served basis. Here’s the catch: the warehouses that service several states each are only getting about 170 units per distributor, so don’t expect your local store to receive more than 2 or 3 boxes. Both premium and core bundles will be for sale, though the ratio of premium bundles to core bundles is still unknown. The good news, though, is that anyone placing a special order for the 360 right now could presumably have their hands on a box within the next few days to a week. Of course, there’s a chance that you’ll have to settle for a lowly core package, though a crippled 360 is better than no 360, right? Just so we’re clear, that there’s what they call a rhetorical question.

lopper 12-12-05 11:15 AM

Well, checked one Target this morning as they opened, and three Costcos just a few minues ago. Nada.

The one Costco that told me they'd be getting some in today changed their tune and just told me that they wouldn't receive any 'til after Christmas.

I think I'm throwing in the towel. I've wasted a lot of time running from store to store to store and making phone call after phone call trying to find one of these things. Seems like the best thing to do is just wait it out.

Michael Corvin 12-12-05 11:18 AM

so bundles only? That sucks. And I would say "No," a crippled 360 is worth nothing to me. You have to add close to $200 to get to the premium set. Might as well try for a premium one on ebay.

The Costco up here (in Prescott) claims that their next shipment of 360s will arrive approx. 6 weeks after Christmas. Considering the deceptiveness of this particular Costco on launch day, it wouldn't surprise me if they are simply saying that to avoid having people off the street buy one. They'd rather save them for employees and their friends.

The net result is the same though... none before Christmas.

I actually special ordered one on the 2nd, apparantly my local store was the only one doing, maybe some manager trying to get some $$ now for future sales. Hopefully this will get fullfilled now.

John Sinnott 12-12-05 11:46 AM

I heard a good one while calling around today. The guy at Circuit City said "Microsoft has announced that no one in the country will get any more (Xbox 360's) before New Years." I told him that was patently false and that Best Buy would have them in their ad this Sunday and he said "Okay, whatever."

maxfisher 12-12-05 12:02 PM

I thought about starting a separate thread for this, but I'm guessing it would just get merged into this one... For those that have gotten a 360 or are hoping to get one this weekend, do you plan to keep it or ebay it?

I'm definitely planning on getting one at some point and am going to drive past a couple Best Buys several hours before opening this Sunday to see if any of the lines are short enough to be worth it. But, if I get one, I'm going to be torn about whether to keep it. Seems like the average going rate on ebay is $900 to $1000 and I would think that might even climb slightly as we get closer to Christmas. Right now all I can afford is pretty much the system, 1 game and 1 extra controller. If I should get one, ebay it and then wait a couple weeks, I could get the system, several controllers and a handful of games and still have money leftover. It's going to be hard to justify keeping it if I should get lucky and get one this weekend...

You should have told him "I heard MS is pulling the plug on the 360 due to a botched launch and is now focusing on an ipod killer." so he could pass that to anybody who asks.
