I'm definitely planning on getting one at some point and am going to drive past a couple Best Buys several hours before opening this Sunday to see if any of the lines are short enough to be worth it. But, if I get one, I'm going to be torn about whether to keep it. Seems like the average going rate on ebay is $900 to $1000 and I would think that might even climb slightly as we get closer to Christmas. Right now all I can afford is pretty much the system, 1 game and 1 extra controller. If I should get one, ebay it and then wait a couple weeks, I could get the system, several controllers and a handful of games and still have money leftover. It's going to be hard to justify keeping it if I should get lucky and get one this weekend...

I honestly thought about this. I thought about the eBay route, but the fact that the units were being swiped from real gamers to sell falsely creates a shortage. If I came across an extra unit, I would offer it up here for the price of shipping.

I wish there was a CostCo closer, because this seems to be the only place receiving any decent numbers, and the only bundle that seems worth the price.

Did BestBuy.com just have the packages? I noticed that the icon that once said "coming soon" now says "sold out"

nickdawgy 12-12-05 12:21 PM

I happened to be at Target this morning right after they opened, and I asked about the 360's. The employee told me that they didn't get any this morning, but would definitely have some before Christmas, so I should keep checking back.

I dunno, buying to sell is just weakass profiteering. It's your choice, but the system is sweet and deserves to be played. It may be tough to get after Xmas so I'd hold on to it.

I think (or maybe hoping) that after this weekend the ebay market will be so flooded that people will not make enough profit to continue this shameless profiteering.

Costcos in clifton NJ have none.... target in Jersey City, nJ have none

I doubt it....there still will be a demand for them. Maybe not $800 for a premium, but I can still see people paying $100-$200 above MSRP

I know of a few Costco's in the Detroit area got them, as well as a Meijer's or two. I haven't been personally checking around, but I have run across a few posts on a few boards stating such (well, I do know for a fact that the Meijer's near me got more in a week or so ago)

Yes. Definitely weak-ass. I snagged one on launch along with 3 friends, so I'd definitely be missing out if I sold mine. I thought about it for a split second on the drive home, but once I played it, I hadn't thought of it since.

I know me too. And the launch games have treated me really well. Definitely the best launch I can remember, and the wireless controller makes me smile just thinking about.

Li 12-12-05 01:04 PM

Well at this point I'm missing out no matter what I do.

DAC 12-12-05 01:05 PM

I just want to throw this out there. If someone can score one for a fellow DVDTalker I'd be willing to pay for the cost plus shipping! :) C'mon! Help me make this a Merry Christmas for both me and my children!

Those who have no interest in the system but are gobbling them up just for profit, I agree, are pretty messed up. However if a person is interested in owning the system but can't really aford it, and sold the first one they could get a hold of to help pay for a new one, it isn't as bad in my mind.

There is no difference. People LIKE to make money...at least where I am from. If someone sells it because they cannot afford it is NO different from someone buying a second one to sell it. I own a 360 and I've been looking for one to sell on EBAY. Yes, I'm evil...but the extra money would REALLY come in handy during the holiday season. I'm not going crazy trying to find it though.

Hey, it's an opinion. I'm not saying the difference is black and white. I just think one's more forgivable.

Edit: Alright, I generally try to avoid stepping on people's toes, so I'm just going to leave it at that. Those who've yet to find a system are grumpy enough as it is. I know because I'm one of them.

I think the people who are bitter at those that are making all the money are only bitter because they wish they could be doing the same, no matter how much they deny it. Some people make enough not to care, but the majority of people have a hard time saying no to "easy" money.

I know that it is only your opinion, but I don't agree. The "bitter" people that I've run across are bitter because they simply want a game system to play... and can't because of the profiteers.

I've had my 360 since the day AFTER the launch, and I'm still eagerly looking for pick up a 2nd and 3rd. Why? Because some of my friends are avid gamers and desperately still looking for one and I'd like to help them out. (the hunt is definitely part of the fun for me though)

Being able to snag some for my friends who couldn't, would really make my Christmas. :)

Li 12-12-05 01:59 PM

Personally I can't be too bitter at profiteers because as far as I know, other than ridiculously expensive bundles, there have yet to be any even possibly available to me. I can't be mad at those who bought systems I in no way had the possibility of purchasing myself. That would make no sense what so ever.

Crap, they haven't mailed the set I ordered last Thursday out yet. :(

boobietheclown 12-12-05 02:25 PM

Okay so this morning I went to a Target, WalMart, BestBuy, and a Circuit City and they all stared at me like I was a moron for even asking. All 4 employee's claimed they hadn't received any since launch and had no idea when they were going to receive some more. I go to my Sam's Club once or twice a week and EVERY time they tell me they'll get some in 2 weeks...=( At least they have gotten some since launch. I may be giving up til February! Its just not worth my time and energy stopping in all of these stores asking the same question and getting the same answers. :(

I just really want to play it on my new LCD TV...

Happy Holidays

Oh yeah i'm shopping in the Denver area in case anyone has seen some available or knows when they will be! :)

On Sunday 12-11 I picked up an 360 at Target in Mishawaka, IN. They had 9 premiums. The one thing that really pissed me off was they wouldn't sell me two but they did sell one to an employee who was on the clock. I could be an *** about things but I figure I would do the same thing if I had connections.
Anyways keep checking your local Targets. If they don't have any have the customer service desk search for them.

So they ARE limited 1 per customer? Good to hear, was worried about that.

Glad they're restricting it to one per person.
