What product besides video game consoles can you make 100% profit in such a short time? Even limited cars like a M3 don't go for double their cost. |
no what it is, is that the damn workers want the shit for themself or family, friends, etc. so when they tell you ummm no, no more 360s till the middle of june or some shit they call their friends like hey man come get all 20 we have and sell em on ebay. between what the store people are telling me and what my microsoft partner briefs say i'm just down right fucking confused. i think i will get some popeyes chicken cause "its the SHIT"

I couldn't agree more about Popeye's Chicken:thumbsup:
"i just asked the seller.... how much for the girl in the picture? " LMAO that was you? I loved his response 4.5 years in college etc. etc. I'm going to check the situation out on Saturday morning at Target and hope they didn't put them out on Friday, also I'm going to casually hang out at the local Walmart electronics department Friday night until they unload all the pallets damn I hope there is one on there. All the rumors are enough to make your head spin. |
My local Sears got a couple in today... I think a total of 8 units (4 of each)...but I missed it by an hour :( lol
|
Funny story, a friend of mine was at the casino on launch day and they had TONS of them and no one was buying them. I guess no one thought to even look there. If anyone in the southern new england area is looking for one apparently Mohegan Sun has them in some of the stores.

So what do you guys think, should I go looking for an xbox 360 tommorow and friday? I was just about to give up for this year, but then that report came out in usa today about shipments being at stores by the end of this week. Damn papers getting my hopes up!

Don't go look, call immediately when the store opens and have them hold it for you.

Target will hold it for 24 hours.
|
I don't think I'll even try my Target. They have that whole "We aren't get any till 2010 thing going" :)
I have the mornings off anyways so I probablly just show up at opening time. I am sick of running around though. |
Yeah the 10AM opening makes it easy to show up when they open if you have it off. I still think you need to call Target, the "not until 2020" BS attitude is just a line they are giving people so they won't call back.

Target or Best Buy? I was referring to Best Buy. Target is 8AM.
|
I think my Target is 7am but it's run by a bunch of idots, so I'm not even going to bother calling. I'll just show up before, between and after classes.

While on the hunt for a Premium 360 (I' ve got one, but a friend is looking), I stopped into my local Best Buy. It's the store closest to the BB headquarters in Minnesota. I asked an employee about the next batch of systems, and he told me , "December 18th, 6AM opening."
So the buzz about BB holding onto systems until a later date seems to be true, at least in my area. It sounds like at least some BBs are going for a 2nd Launch Day type of situation...it'll be utter chaos, I'm sure. And there will be big lines and plenty of angry and disappointed people. The thing that bugs me is that we all know that MSFT is shipping systems weekly (or that's what we've been told)...so for BB to not release them as they get them, well, that makes things a bit more complicated. Has anyone else gotten this info from their local Best Buy stores? |
Mod Note: let's keep this on-topic, thanks.

Has customer service gone completley to hell lately? Employees have been downright rude when I ask if any 360's are in stock at pretty much every store I go to(I haven't been to an EB or Gamestop yet, I have no intentions of ever going into one of them again.) I know that it sucks when people are asking for them all day but it is your job to be nice to the customers.
I wish this could have been like the PSP launch. 3 days after it's release I wanted one. I went to Best Buy, grabbed a system off of the huge stack and left the store with $400 less in my wallet. I showed it to some of my friends the next day and 3 of them went out and bought them. That is how a launch should work. Word of mouth. Not all of this shortage crap. |
Well, I've been pestering my EBgames quite a lot lately, because I've been told I'm anywhere from 150-190 for place in line for my 'guaranteed first shipment' pre-order. That's rediculous they had so many pre ordered for first shipment as a 'guarantee'. I'm going to call the manager today, and tell him how I feel.
I switched my pre-order first shipment (roughly about 30 in line) from one store to this EBgames because this EBgames promised a first shipment. This EBgames is much more conveniant for me to go to for pick-up, so I said sure! Why not! I made the pre-order there, and cancelled at the other place. If I had known EBgames had gone so overboard with pre-orders, I would have said 'no thanks'. I'll be calling the manager today to let him know my entire story. I feel that it's a shame that yes, Microsoft overall is to blame, but stores like EBgames/Gamestop have taken advantage of the consumer to gain pre-orders. Take 200 pre-orders for $50 bucks each, they're sitting on a good 10 grand that's interest free pretty much to use at their disposal for months on end. They can use this money to project their sales and hope that customers who have good experiences with pre-orders continue to buy games and accessories there in the future. EBgames/Gamestop never had anything contractually stating from Microsoft 'this is how many you're going to get', and no store should guarantee anything without having something that's legally binding. When you pre-sell units you don't even know you'll have, in x amount on x date, and they don't fulfill that agreement, that's called fraud. Here I am, a consumer who was roped into changing to a more conveniant location because they guaranteed a first shipment when they didn't have it in stone how many they would be recieving, now 'first shipment' means probably 'sometime in January'. I'm also going to be calling the district manager to let him know that I am really put off by this and at bare minimum, I want to reserve the right to cancel my pre-order if I can get the system elsewhere before they recieve mine, without holding my deposit. So yes, customer service has gone to hell. EBgames/Gamestop, places like this thrive off of the pre-orders and push those pre-orders. They always ask about pre-orders when you call on the phone, or when you buy something in the shop.... it's their equivalent of 'would you like fries with that'. Now because of their overzealous policy of getting pre-orders the way they do, they're in a hole. They dug themselves into this mess. If they were more careful with their pre-ordering policies, they wouldn't have to recieve 8 million calls a day from angry customers. |
