Call of Duty 2 map details:
Santa Monica, CA – May 2, 2006 – Further expanding the experience of the #1 title for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), and Infinity Ward announced plans today to wage a campaign of new content for the next-gen leading Call of Dutyâ2 with the release of nine multiplayer maps on Xbox Liveâ online gaming service. The first four maps will be available for download this spring, with playable versions debuting at E3 2006 in Activision’s Call of Duty 2 Lounge (South Hall, Booth #1200). The remaining five maps will be released in a second barrage in July.

“Fans have made Call of Duty 2 the best-selling next-gen title and these maps are a great way to expand upon the hallmark epic scope and cinematic intensity that they’ve come to expect from the franchise,” said Grant Collier, president of Infinity Ward. “What better way to get the action to gamers than to release the first of the maps directly to them at E3!”

The four maps slated for release this spring will unleash a blistering barrage of battle for gamers on Xbox Live; Bonus Map Pack (Vossenack and Wallendar, Germany) will be released for free, and Skirmish Map Pack (Kalach, Russia and Beaumont-Hague, France) will be sold for 400 Microsoft™ Points through Xbox Live® Marketplace.

In July, the second wave of the attack will begin when Activision and Infinity Ward release the Invasion Pack for 900 Microsoft Points, a multiplayer map pack featuring five new maps that include:

* Antoville, France (Crossroads)
* St. Louet, France (Newvillers)
* Amaye sur Seulles, France (Normandy)
* Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown)
* Rostov, Russia (Harbor)

Hmmm.. 2 free, and 7 more for 1300 points.. Not too bad... though I really hate the idea of paying for new content. At least there are new maps and done by the team that created the game. Not like on a PC where you can get free maps that might or might not be as good.

That works out to be about $1.60 per map. Plus the two for free. I'll do it for sure.

Damn you Doctor West... Damn you!

I'll obviously be picking these maps up as soon as they drop. Mmmmm.... more Call of Duty is always good.

Also, this Culdcept Saga, could you give me more details? Any idea what it is like in general? I can fully get behind almost any card battling game so that fact alone piques my interest.

I finally got one. I've been downloading demos like crazy. For a second, I thought I had a broken one, turns out that my video cable wasn't plugged in all the way That was a sigh of relief. It did take me awhile to connect wirelessly to xbox live. I had to power cycle my modem and router. I love it so far.

Awesome. I'm getting one soon. How long does it take to download? And what demos are your favorites?

I'm bored and interested.

I have the 3 mbs comcast service. Some demos are 400mbs while others can be up to 1 gig, so it varies. It does seem to take longer to download on the xbox live service vs downloading something on the computer. While I didn't time it, I'd say it took anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the demo. To tell you the truth, I spent all night downloading so many demos, that I didn't get to play that many. I hated NBA Live 2006, Tomb Raider was fun, and Tiger Woods really didn't impress me that much. Kameo was the first XBox 360 demo I tried out and it looked beautful for a cartoon. The other demos I downloaded were Call of Duty 2, BF2, Madden, C.R.A.W., Fight Night 3, Quake 4, and some others. I practically filled up the hard drive. I'll play the rest of the demos and give you my thoughts. I'll probablly delete any demos I don't like in anticipation of the e3 demos that are supposed to be on live.
