Today (21st) marks the one year anniversary of the DS. Pretty good for year 1.

Huzzah - I got my review games today. If I can pry the DS from my wife's hands (Sims 2) I'll get the reviews going...

Nintendo DS: Mario Kart DS Enjoys Immense Success
Kart racing game and Nintendo WiFi Connection embraced by masses. By Billy Kirk - 11-21-05 Print Email Nintendo sent Mario Kart DS racing into stores last week, and in just that time 112,000 copies of the hotly-anticipated Nintendo DS title have found their way into American homes. Amazingly, of that number over 52,000 system/game pairs have logged onto Nintendo's WiFi service - roughly 45%. "We are ecstatic with the results, and this definitely sets the standard for future Wi-Fi online gaming," said Beth Lewellyn. "Mario Kart should easily be a million seller in its life cycle, and we'd love for everyone with the game to touch the Wi-Fi experience. We've got Animal Crossing just around the corner, and Metroid Prime Hunters next year, with more to come." Interestingly, last year Microsoft announced that after three weeks of availability, only 18% of the owners of the highly-touted Halo 2 took their title onto Xbox Live for online play. |

Chris I may try to take my DS to another hotspot and try to connect. I am eagerly awaiting AC:WW for the only capabilities though. |

Target to offer $99 Nintendo DS
Target to offer $99 Nintendo DS
Posted Nov 22, 2005, 6:30 PM ET by Ross Miller Related entries: Nintendo DS While there is no indication that this is a universal price drop, the online Target catalog is marketing the Nintendo DS (type in “DS” in the search catalog linked via the picture to the right) as only $99 for the Electric Blue and Titanium-colored models. With the price of the Nintendo DS currently at $130, this is a great deal, if true. The catalog claims the deal is in store only, so if you ever had any inkling of interest in the touch screen portable, now would be the perfect time to indulge. |
Oh snap. Well, hard to wait for a black one at that price.

I may have to pick another one up if I see it for $99 somewhere. |
Anyone pick up Sonic Rush yet? Any impressions?
Reviews have been pretty good. I was thinking of grabbing it since I just finished Castlevania and have all my other consoles packed up as I'm moving next Thursday, but then I saw that Mario and Luigi 2 comes out next week, so I'll just wait for that for now. But I might put Sonic on my x-mas list if it's worth while. |

I'm going to hold on to it, at least until I play through Julius mode down the road.

I picked up Feel the Magic and Sprung for the DS at Target for $4.98 each the other day. I don't have a DS....yet.

Any thoughts about Viewtiful Joe? I'm kinda nervous about how puzzle-heavy the game is compared to the first two.

Holy shit! Mario and Luigi DS comes out next week!! I just realized it. It took me totally by surprise! I can't believe how many good games there are. I'm still playing mario kart too. I don't know if it's possible for a console to top the DS for having the most good games sequentially in such a short time period.

I've had my eye on a DS for some time now, and with Mario Kart out(huge fan of the series here), I decided to take the plunge. I was thinking about going for the bundle, but my buddy sold his practically untouched Nintendo DS plus extra games all for $100.
Here's what the "bundle" included: Nintendo DS complete with packaging & instructions, stylus', etc Super Mario 64 DS (All packaging) and GBA games: Super Mario Advance 2 Legend of Zelda/Four Swords Wario Ware Inc Pokemon Fire Red w/wireless adaptor I'm really happy with the purchase, the DS was in excellent condition and the inclusion of the DS version of my favorite N64 game was an absolute plus. I was really close to buying the Mario Kart bundle, but I figured with the $50 I'd save, I could pick up more games. So I went with Mario Kart for $29 and Meteos for $19.99. Plus the whole slew of GBA games that I've enjoyed playing on a better lit and clearer looking screen. But along with others have said, this really is a sweet machine, and I there's so many games that I'm looking forward to playing on it, let the slew of great games continue! |
I made the plunge today

Metroid Prime Pinball is great - can't believe it's from the same people who made that crappy Mario Pinball game. I think I'll be playing this for some time.

Tragedy...
This never happens to me, and damn it why did it happen today? I dropped my DS :(. I thought I had closed the case, but I didnt and it hit the floor and all I heard was a crack. The hinge on the top screen is cracked open leaving the top screen loose. If I continue to use the DS the screen will break off completely. So hoping my store would replace my system the boss said that we can't, we only cover defects and not accidental damage. I guess theres no accounting for employees huh? I just emailed Nintendo, hopefully they can replace my system its only a year old. Im fighting every temptation to run down to my store and buy a micro so I can keep playing Gunstar Super Heroes, and Zelda-Minish.
