The new Zelda game looks AWESOME. The gameplay enhancements from the short demo video were very interesting. It continues to amaze me how so few other developers are able to really tap new ideas for the system. Hopefully soon that will begin to change..

I don't think it plays poorly, just different. It some adjustment, but was fine once I got used to it.

Metroid Prime Hunters plays well also. I haven't had any issues myself so far.

What control scheme are you using? My initial choice was dual-right-handed, but that sucks too. The only way that I can see working is the thumb-strap for head movement, but my experience with Mario DS tells me my hand would rather fall off than play that way... I may have to break down and learn it.

I tired the dual hands and did not like it. I am using right-handed stylus and found that it works just fine, with a fair degree of accuracy. After using the missiles and ball mode enough, I can usually switch without effort as well. My only complaint is I need to buy myself a bigger stylus.

New Mario and new Zelda.

The DS will probably end up as my 2nd favorite console of all time behind the SNES.

I can't believe how good the DS has turned out to be. That new Zelda is freaking amazing. Can't believe we get a new 2D Zelda with Wind Waker like graphics. Life is good. Between that and the Revolution being a virtual NES, SNES, N64, Genesis and Turbografix I am in shock.

I'm in shock that this year on the DS I got/get to play Metroid, Mario and now Zelda. Throw in Animal Crossing, Castlevania, Kirby, Mario and Luigi, Mario Kart, Sonic, Tetris, Wario Ware and you have one of the greatest platforms since the birth of gaming. Can't wait for the DS Lite.

Where can you get this deal at? I've checked Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop and some other sites and anything with a game seems to be $20 to $35 more than the standalone system.

I'm now over 10 games with no system as I await the DS Lite. I've never had to wait like this before. A man can only read the manuals and box covers so many times, ya know

Somewhere along the way, the GBA took the favorite console title for me. Great games along with some of the best from both the NES and SNES eras combined with portability = favorite for me.

Considering that the DS plays all GBA games and has some solid stuff in its own right, it's my new favorite almost by default.

Still play my SP more though.

I think he's referring to this deal that was/is going on at select retailers. Check out thread at www.cheapassgamer.com titled "Nintendo DS with Free Game at GameStop & other retailers".

I guess you'll have to search for it because I can't get it to post the link correctly. That's the correct title of the thread in quotes, though.

Ahhh, thanks. Looks like it's dead at most places, but I'll have to try to swing by Target over the weekend. Sounds like they're the only place that might still be running the promotion.

I can't tell... Is this a pink DS Lite? Or just a white one in red/pink light?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Eg9oAkyzMaY

I haven't heard anything about a pink one (that I recall) and the wife is more open to pink gadgets when I really don't "need" them.

So I decided to break down and import a DS lite, when I noticed I can't unless I want to pay over $200! Oh well.

I was going to import one but since I can't get it for under $300 I'm going to wait until it's released here. Instead I spent that money on a new video card to play Oblivion.

For the people that picked up Tetris, how is it? Worth paying full price for? Or should I wait?

I'm enjoying Tetris quite a lot. I'm not sure about longevity yet, though. There's only 3 modes of WiFi. 2-player standard, 4-player standard w/ items, and 2-player push.

All 3 are fun, push requires a different kind of thinking to play because you kinda have to defend in a sense. I haven't played much single player because, honestly, I don't care. I got it for $30 at BB w/o a gamer card coupon. If you could get it for $25, I'd say go for it for sure. I doubt it'll drop in price any time soon.

Anyone seen Phoenix Wright at the local stores yet or know how long the re-issue was to take?

Finshed up with GDC

I'm sure nothing I'll post is anything you guys haven't heard, but I'll do it anyway.

I just finished up at this years GDC. Nintendo had a small booth where they had Tetris DS, both Brain Age games, Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Bros, and some marble game playable. All were demoed on the DS Lite, which for me was surprisingly small and stylish compared to the new one. All of them were white.

They had the revolution hardware (probably hollowed out) in a glass display case. Thats also quite tiny and very slick looking. Also a download station where you can temporarliy download demos of, I think, all of the games listed above. Such a cool feature, but I wish there was a way to permanently download them. Sony had the same thing at their booth, I downloaded Loco Roco (beautiful) on my PSP but it was lost once I powered it off. Dumb.

Swag is far more easily accessible at GDC than it is at E3: At the booth they freely gave away tshirts for both Brain Age games. I didn't make it over to the Keynote address, but they gave a copy of Brain Age to everyone in attendance, which was probably somewhere around 8k - 10k people. My friend gave me her copy. A VERY cool gesture by Nintendo.

There was quite a buzz around the show floor about nintendo. With the success of the DS, the excitment level for the Revolution building with each new announcement, and the delay of the PS3, many think that Nintendo has a very real shot of reclaiming the throne.

I saw a bunch at Fry's and picked one up, so I imagine most stores would have it. Now I just need to find time to play it.

Thanks for the cool report! I can't wait for the DS Lite, Brain Age, and New Super Mario Bros!

Thanks for the report Fodder. I've been looking forward to Brain Age for some time now, just a few more weeks, and I'm even more looking forward to the DS Lite. Thats pretty cool you got a free game just for going, and one that isn't even out.

Brain Age is my next most anticipated title. Being 20 bucks is an added incentive.
