The fifth case is actually the biggest of the 5 and done better because it uses some of the DS's unique features. It felt like it was as big as 2 of the other cases put together and it kept me guessing! I also liked the forth case a lot.

I'm actually thinking of replaying at some point even though the game is totally linear. Can't wait for the next one.

I love my DS so much it is really scary.

The fifth case is the only new one so they really went all out to use the DS features on that one. The others are basically the same cases as on the original GBA title. This game really is a wonderful gaming experience and I'm hopeful that Capcom will give the sequel another shot at the US market.

Has Nintendo released any more screens on the DS Lite? I'm getting ready to pre-order one from Play-Asia.com and interested to see how the new brighter screen looks. I'm hoping it's about the same as the Micro/GBA SP2.

Supermallet 02-07-06 01:43 AM

I noticed on Play-Asia that most games say "Compatible with DS Japanese." Does that mean I need a DS from Japan, even though it says "Region-free"? Also, are there any other good places to order Japanese imports?

P.S. Pre-ordered Super Princess Peach today.

Nope, all DS games are playable on all DS systems.

While there's no CONCRETE information other than it'll be brighter, the fact that it has four adjustable brightness settings leads one to believe it'll be just like the Micro and SP2 (even though the SP2 only has two settings). I'll probably wait for a US release myself (unless they pull another Japan-only Graphite color) and I'd also like to have an hour count for the brightest setting before I drop the lettuce for one.

No kidding!! I was playing Trauma Center and Pac-Pix last night and I felt this surge of gaming goodness. I loved the intro of Pac-Pix, when Pac-Man was telling the story and you'd tap the screen to turn the page and then he asks for your help saying "You're holding the magic pen, aren't you?" And Trauma Center.. even though the characters are cartoons it felt like the most mature game I've played in a long time.. and not the pre-teen "mature" like all the childish gangster games pissing on the market. Games like that are selling me on picking up some of the other less mainstream type titles such as Trace Memory, Lost in Blue or Phoenix Wright.

Oh, and has anybody seen the newest batch of screen shots for Children of Mana or Tales of the Tempest? Children of Mana looks like it's going to rock something fierce.. and if it allows co-op over Wi-Fi, oh boy. Tales looks to be the first cel-shaded game on the DS. Both of those are on my extreme must-buy list.

jeffdsmith 02-07-06 08:24 AM

As an owner of an imported white DS, I would suggest waiting until they release the new DS here. It will only be another 2 months, and the colors are likely to be identical. This way if you have a problem with the unit you can have it exchanged under NOA's warranty or in store.

The reason I believe the colrs will be the same in both regions is that I believe Nintendo would have otherwise released a black unit of the regular DS here (by now) if they had not intended to do so with the Lite.

PixyJunket 02-07-06 08:34 AM

I know this has been discussed to death here but I didn't feel like digging in such a big thread, so what's the consensus on screen protectors for the touch screen? My girlfriend got one for hers and it messed up the tip of her stylus so she took it off. Looking at hers and other DSes it doesn't seem like the screen is prone to markings even with heavy stylus use (unless you're a demo unit at Gamestop).. so should I even bother with a protector?

darkside 02-07-06 09:14 AM

I have heard good things about the Hori screen protectors. My issue with them is how hard these things are to put on without getting dust stuck in between the screen and the protector. I tried to put one on my PSP yesterday and just gave up as it looked terrible with the protector on. The scratches you will get on the DS screen are usually very light and invisible when using the unit. Personally I would go without one.

Setzer 02-07-06 10:42 AM

I use the Hori screen protector on my touch screen and while it's not perfect the screen still looks good. I have a friend who has had his DS since launch and the touch screen has all sorts of light scratches on it that the screen is starting to look blurry in some spots. Now, that just could be the way he uses his stylus pen....maybe putting too much pressure on the screen? I don't know but after seeing his screen I decided to put one on mine as soon as I got it.

fujishig 02-07-06 11:38 AM

My DS screen is very scratched up... you usually can't tell in the midst of gameplay, but when the screen goes dark, ugh. I blame it on Nintendogs and the petting involved, but it's definitely scratchable, even with the stylus. I'd get a screen protector (it's too late for mine, but I did get one for my wife's pink DS).

Gallant Pig 02-07-06 12:49 PM

What happens is when you start using it a lot, eventually a particle will get on it and pressing down on the screen trapping the particle between the stylus and the screen making scratches. It'll happen but for me it hasn't been too bad so far.

I agree with Darkside on the screen protector I had to give up on mine as well.

Josh H 02-07-06 01:37 PM

I have no scratches that are visible while playing on mine either, and I bought it at launch and have played the hell out of it.

I usually wipe off the touch screen with my shirt before playing to get anything thing off of it that could scratch it as Gallant described.

Setzer 02-07-06 02:30 PM

Maybe my friend used a different stylus with his, some aftermarket one and not the one Nintendo made for it or he was just too damn agressive with the thing. All I know is that his touch screen did not look good and I didn't want mine to end up like his.

As far as applying the protector, yah it can be a pain in the ass. You may end up with dust or little air bubbles. Mine went on well though. No dust particles and there were some bubbles initially but those have since gone away.

Supermallet 02-07-06 04:42 PM

I used the Hori protectors on both my and WhoGirl's DS systems, and I haven't had a problem with either of them. I cleaned off both screens really well before applying the protector, and I think they are worth the trouble. Especially since mine is a red DS, so if I screwed it up, that would be it.

Outlaw 02-07-06 05:29 PM

I don't have a screen protector either, had my DS since mid-summer. No scratches at all.

I have read that people using stylus' other than the ones made by Nintendo are more prone to scratch the screen, not sure I believe this but I just use the ones that it came with. I have a 2 year replacement plan on mine so if it gets back they said I can change it (the only system I've ever gotten one for due to the nature of the games). However it appears like I won't need it for awhile. I'm going to be gettin the DS Light anyway for the size.

Lastblade 02-07-06 10:12 PM

I just got a DS about 3 weeks ago.... Man I love this little system. I wish I had waited though to get the DS Lite, but I am having too much fun to care at this point! Meteos is just so addictive (21 hours played so far), and Advanced War DS is crazy.

The best part is that now I can get all the GBA games I have missed over the years. I now have Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, Gunstar Superhero, Advanced War 2, Final Fantasy 1 & 2, and the Castlevania 2 pack. I need to get more........

I also bought the Hori screen protector. Didn't have issues putting it on, and I like the protection. I will probably buy another set in a few months just to keep the screen clean and such.

This is about the PSP, but I am posting it here for a certain reason. I got this information from a thread over at GamingAge, and just found it funny:

Sony's also got a PSP game coming called Byte Hell, a collection of fast-paced mini-games. Hmm.

Damn, I LOVE Pac-Pix!

Trauma Center is pretty good too.

What did you like about pac-pix? I played the demo at best buy, and it seemed cute, but is it just the same thing over and over?
