So are we going to see the DSL be back up to $150 here or will the DS get a price cut to $100?

It will likely be $130.

No way man if you sell it you'll get plenty for it and you'll have a DS lite no problem I'm starting to contemplate selling my red one without mariokart when the lite comes out just because I know some idiot will overpay on ebay and I'll get the smaller brighter version for very little money out of pocket.

Hey, it's in the intro of their review section explaining their system, so take it up with them. :D

More Tetris DS talk via GoNintendo

* Every mode in Tetris DS features a theme based on a famous Nintendo character.

* Up to 10 players can clash using DS Download Play to form a Tetris DS match of massive proportions, all with just one game card.

* Using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, up to four players can compete in wireless two- or four-player battles against friends or strangers, near or far.

Characters: Each game mode features a theme based on a famous Nintendo character or game.

How to progress through the game: The game has six game modes to choose from. Information will be released periodically about each mode.

Standard: This Mario-themed mode features the same addictive game play that made the original Tetris so wildly popular. Players guide falling Tetriminos (falling blocks) and form horizontal lines to clear them away. Mario™ runs around Super Mario Bros.® levels in the background.

Touch: This unique take on Tetris really shows off the touch-screen capability of Nintendo DS. Players use a stylus to drag and move Tetriminos in a giant stack to make them fall into horizontal lines. In early levels, they can tap Tetriminos to spin them just the way they need them. Players have as much time as they need to carefully plan their moves, so it plays very differently from the other frantic modes.

I'm not too crazy about the play area spanning both screens. Hopefully that's just an option. Touch mode sounds awkward and too slow for me to control. Then again, I've played Meteos :)

I guess those images confirm a Balloon Fight theme.

Do yourself a favor and just pick up Bust-A-Move DS. It's better than what this Tetris DS looks like. Jeez why split the screens vertically when there are TWO DAMN SCREENS. And can't they just make simple ass tetris, what's up with balloon fight?

Considering they get "used" rather quickly with the touch screen and the new units coming out I can't imagine these will have a resell value that's at all decent. Just keep it for another one to multi-game with.

When does Bust-A-Move come out, anyway? I'm waiting and waiting for it.

Check ebay, you'd be shocked what they're going for.

Skimming some completed auctions, I saw them going anywhere from $85 to 135 before shipping, with no games.

Bust-a-Move is out already and at the very affordable price of $20. You may wanna check Gamestop thats where I got mine...seeing as how my company has a group of monkeys doing the buying for our stores. I'm VERY interested in Tetris DS, despite how it looks ;). The title had me at wi-fi.

Balloon Fight is just one of the different modes of play. I believe the Mario mode is the the "simple ass" tetris. :)

Most likely the NDSL will sell at $129 while the NDS will be brought down to $99.

This is very possible, but it makes me wonder about the Game Boy line. Are we also talking $49.99 SPs as well. Not sure if they will keep making micros, but those would probably have to drop to $69.99.

Josh H 01-28-06 04:01 PM

I have a feeling with the success of the DS, we'll see support for the GBA gradually waning.

I also feel the DS will be around for a couple more years, even though they said it wasn't the true successor to the GBA.

They were playing it safe. I think it will reign for a while, then we'll get a DS2 and never see the GBA2.

Yeah I'd have to agree, but there are a few gems coming to GBA that are on my list

-Tales of Phantasia
-Metal Slug 1
-Drilldozer

I had a lot of hard to find GBA games at one point, owning the micro has made me want to track them down again. Even if the GBA support dies after this year I still got what I wanted out of the system and much more.

I totally agree. All of those are on my buy list along with Final Fantasy V and VI.

They sold quite a few GBAs this holiday season so I still think its early to bury that line. At $50 with the library of games available I think the GBA could last through 2006 just fine.

Josh H 01-29-06 12:08 PM

I meant Nintendo phasing out GBA support (i.e. not putting out many or any first party games).

Of course third parties will due to the huge base and the fact that DS owners can play them as well. Especially with the ports as they cost little to develop and can thus turn a big profit.

Yeah, I think the fact that DS owners can play the GBA games as well will keep them in development for at least this year.

What are some of the hard to find GBA games?

These are titles I owned at point or another, sold them...and regretted it ever since.

Pinball of the Dead
Super Street Fighter 2X Turbo Revival
Gradius Galaxies
Street Fighter Alpha 3
King of the Fighters EX Neo Blood
Guilty Gear X: Advance Edition
Final Fight One
Earthworm Jim
Sonic Pinball Party
Super Ghouls N Ghost
Super Puzzle Fighter 2X (recently rebought)
Double Dragon Advance
River City Ransom EX

The last two I've had a hard time finding new in stores, not many used floating around my area. Im sure there are more I've left out but these are the games I owned and sadly parted with :(.

I don;t have any of those. Is Super Puzzle Fighter 2X different than regular super puzzle fighter for gba? and are any of those games any good?

Supermallet 01-30-06 02:13 PM

Sonic Pinball Party is now available in a 2-pack with the first Sonic Advance.

PixyJunket 02-01-06 10:59 AM

Well, my DS finally arrived but I still won't have it until Friday. I picked up Pac-Pix last night with a gift card I received for my birthday. It was a toss-up between that and Nanostray.. but Pac-Pix better utilizes the stylus aspect of the DS. I already have Castlevania and my girlfriend has Metroid Pinball and Trauma Center at my place.. so I should be good to go. Nanostray and Kirby are probably my next buys with Dig Dug somewhere on the list.

woops! Sorry theres no 2X at the end of the GBA game, its simply Super Puzzle Fighter. Are any of those games good? Well I could tell you why I love them but that doesnt mean you'll like them as much as I did. If you love fighters and have a deep seeeded love for Street Fighter then maybe you'd like Alpha 3. If you love old school beat em ups youll probably like Double Dragon, River city, and Final Fight.

Supermallet 02-03-06 09:24 PM

So Nintendo of America still hasn't announced a release date for the DS lite in the US?
