YES you can. Just like on an American DS you can switch it to Japanese.

Yes I'm stupid. Exactly where is the friend code located. I managed to get a few games at one those hotspots so according to the manual a code should have been created. However, I can not find the thing. Oh this is for Mario Karat DS.

On a different note I think I have enough info to setup a wireless network. Now I'm just trying to figureout if I can limit my router so it only allows my DS to connect. Security is what is on my mind.

Darn you Baron. Did your stupid eyes maybe look under friend code confirmation. Damn you to hell for stupidity. And you spelled butt wrong also, get a education or a dictionary.

And on a different note or the stupid note. Have you looked at the manual or even tried going into the wireless setting? God you are stupid. All you do is disallow all devices except the DS so only it can connect. Oh it will still need the wep key which I wouldn't have to tell you if you weren't so stupid.

Hey, ease up on Baron, Baron! Not everyone is as perfect as you are.

I finally broke down and purchased a DS/Mario Kart bundled system. The ability to play Mario Kart over my wireless network is what sold me ... besides the fact that my g/f just bought one. ;)

I'm liking it so far, though I pretty handily got my ass handed to me in my first online game. I guess I should've practiced a bit more .... ;)

I bought Mario Kart DS yesterday. I went online to take on three other guys without even playing a single player match, and finished third. After the match, the second and last place guys took off, and I took on the winner of the match in a one on one race. Whoever it was, had a very good record and was just awesome at this game, but it ended up tied two to two. However, I accidently picked the option that took you back to the main screen, and since I didn't take note of whoever it was, I haven't been able to find them again to finally have a race to decide an actual winner. :(

Nope, since nicknames are independent of WFC codes, you'll probably never be able to find that racer again. It's nintendo's way of protecting the youth from stalkers.

Since I'm getting (probably) Advance Wars DS for Christmas and I'm already owning Mario Kart DS I still need a game which makes good use of the touchscreen.

Meteos and Kirby look very promising to me. Any opinions on these games?

Hmmm... what's the logic here?

Makes it harder for people to get in contact with the same kids repeatedly as the kid would have to give them their friend code for the particular game.

Meteo's is a very good puzzle game, I'd probably give it an 8/10. I'd score it a little higher but it is a little frantic for my tastes, and the things you have to do to unlock things aren't made very clear. I'm still not very sure about it, and gamefaqs was no help.

Best I can figure is you get new stuff for certain hours of play time and meteos launched, and can only earn meteos to buy new stuff in Deluge mode.

Kirby's on my x-mas list, so I can't comment on it.

Any good games comming out in the next few weeks?

PixyJunket 12-12-05 03:52 PM

Tales of the Tempest announced for the DS!

Character designs by Mutsumi Inomata! (HUGE excitement for me, at least).

No other details yet.

But can you even talk to kids in this game? And what's to stop from getting their personal info on the first contact?

The only communication among players in game via wifi, whether it's a random connection or someone on your friends list, is the decal you create and your racing style/track selection techniques. Very little...

The point is this: There is no direct connection between your "name" and your friend code. You choose the "name" people see, and can change it whenever.

As a result of this the true ID (your "friend code") is never given out unless by the gamer, it can not be taken without your consent, unlike xbox live where your ID is publically available and constant.

It makes things much safer, but also a pain in the ass, that is the nature of security. :(

Meteos is awesome. Hands down my favorite puzzle game. It is very action packed and has loads of replay value. Playing on the different planets is great as well and adds new challenges.

Some games may support text chat, voice chat probably not, but it is possible with the built in microphone.

Anyway, I think it's a silly system, but you were just asking for Nintendo's logic, and that's what it is.

My DS has arrived at US customs... Eagerly awaiting...

Hopefully it'll come out in the US.

I read somewhere that Nintendo was planning to port Katamari Damacy to the DS, has anyone heard anything about this?

If it was up to Namco I'd say don't count on it.. but seeing as Nintendo has fought the fight to get Symphonia and finally Phantasia released here on their systems, I'm sure they'll be pushing for the DS game to come here as well. I'm hoping that Legendia does as well (if not better) than Symphonia did because I'd like to see Namco finally properly respect the series in the US. I'm still upset that Tales of Rebirth got passed over.

Nothing yet.. there's a PSP version out in Japan and coming here soon, but the control is not good from what I hear. The touch screen would be perfect for this and I'm sure Namco realizes this as well so here's to hoping.

I must have misunderstood the question. I thought he asked that if he bought a japanese game and the game was in japanese, could he make it english.
