Reggie mentioned during a recent speech that the Famicom micro would be shipped to US stores on November 28th and that the current stock of the silver and black would not be replenished. For the first time he called the micro a limited edition system and the website for it now says that as well.
BTW, he does mention that the micro may be continued with different versions like a possible NES styled version once the famicom version sells out, but he really stresses the point the micro is a very limited opportunity. He acts like Nintendo has said this all along, but they certainly have not. They originally were acting like the micro might be an SP replacement and are now changing their tune.
I believe it is during the speech here.

If these are going to be discounted over the holidays, I just might have to bite the bullet and get one.

Does anyone know of an SP trade-in deal, maybe for BF? I'd like to trade an older SP for the new bright-screen one. Just got a micro and the screen is amazing. But I have 2 older SPs (traded an original GBA for an SP 2 years ago!) and I need one SP to flash my flashcart. So I want a brightscreen model. Heck, I'd trade my 2 regular SPs for one new one with no hesitation. Any chance of there being an SP trade-up deal?
Lovin' the micro, and am dusting off my GBA carts...

Nice idea, but $100 was steep. I'm betting a few stores will do a black friday deal to close them out.

I haven't seen any stores having the micro advertised for Black Friday. Maybe closer to christmas but I wouldn't bet on it.
As for an SP deal multiple stores will have their own deals. I believe WM will have it for $48 but I'm not sure if that includes the brighter screens or not.

IGN.com is reporting that the 20th Anniversary Game Boy Micro will be in stores on Dec. 4th.
Also over at the Lik-Sang forum, a member posted a clip of his Micro playing back some video footage with the Play-Yan micro:

BB has them for $89.99... but that's the best I could find.

I still think Nintendo should have sold the micro with the plan-yan capability built in @$100. Would have seriously cut into movie buyer driven PSP sales.

Any more controller issues with the new model SP's? My wife and I have two SP's between us, but she just upgraded to a DS, and we were thinking of selling the two old SP's and buying a new-screen model. Is it really that big of a difference? I'll admit the current SP does wash out the image a bit.

I've been playing more action games on my Graphite SP and while I can tell there's a definite difference in the control pad (it does feel a bit looser) I haven't noticed any performance difference in my usage. I've recently put time into Gunstar Heroes, Yoshi's Island, Shining Soul II and Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (Cube).

If you play GBA games regularly, YES.
The new screen looks like a mini-RGB monitor, it's so damn crisp and clean and bright.

Could you be a little more clear on that?

I was joking, but thank you, that's quite a difference.

I just picked up a Gameboy Micro today.... wow is this device tiny... and boy is the screen bright! The first thing I did was to try out my gameboy movie player. The latest firmware added some great features and the encoding software is significantly improved over the previous version.
videos look surprisingly good... not quite as good as on my smartphone, but surprisingly good. Music playback, photo display, text reading, and NES/GB playback is just over the top.
I'll post pics as soon as I can.
Now I just need to buy a GBA game to try out the game playing.

I broke my promise and bought the Micro before it hit $50 - I just couldn't pass it up for $60 c/o Toys 'R Us clearance.
I'm in love with this thing already. Very comfortable for my (6'2") hands, unlike the SP. The screen is wonderful and the new D-Pad/buttons are a definite improvement on those from the DS and SP, which all but guarantees an upgrade to the DS Lite come May. *sigh* The only negative is that the Micro is likely to be with me all the time and decrease my general productivity in life. Oh, well.
