I just don't get it though Josh. It kind of reminds me of Howard Stern 'fans' who hate him, yet still listen on a daily basis. If things were as bad as you say they were when the Xbox/GC launched, I'm glad I missed it.

I also want to say thanks to the mods for keeping things in line here. This is one of the few sites that I post on and routinely visit. Adult gamers appear to be the norm here which is something of an anomaly.

Anyways, back on topic...

Has there been any news about a new Mario game? I saw something on IGN about the new DS title but I'm really curious about what is next for the console Mario franchise. I imagine that they'll hold off revealing that till they unveil the controller since it might be integral to the direction thhat they're taking the franchise into.

I've never gotten it either.

Anyway, there will be a new mario game, probably at the launch of the revolution. But there's not news on it at all. It may or may not be related to the Mario 128 tech demo from years back.

I saw that PDF the other day and its an obvious fake. That controller would be like $100 with all that crap built into it.

The new console will definitely have a Mario title, but we probably won't learn much about the Revolution software until they finally announce the controller. You can bet the launch games will be heavily tied into what ever is different about the controller.

Why do you think the console itself will be cheap? Think about it...

In all seriousness, technology is getting to the level where I would prefer more money be put into the controller then the console itself. Increased power is not going to substantially improve games at this point, developers have already shown what they do with more power => better graphics. Yeah, AI could be improved, but its much more costly to develop good AI then prettier graphics, so why bother when the masses already eat up games with bad AI because it looks pretty?

The true possabilites of games lye in how we interact with those worlds the games create, not getting 1000 enemies on the screen at the same time.

Not sure if mentioned this before, but since it is Revolution related, I'll post it.

Both the Xenon (Xbox360) and Cell (PS3) are "in order" processors. This is a cheap way to get tons of power. What if the revolution used a "out of order" processor, to deliver better AI and physics? Apparently, it is also much easier to code for. Just a thought. What do you think the possibilities are?

This rumor actually had surfaced a long time ago about the Rev. Personally I do not believe Nintendo will pursue the route because, as you mentioned, it costs more to implement that hardware.

My thought is that discussion of the 360 and PS3 processors do not belong in the Revolution thread.

Well, maybe we will hear something within a matter of weeks.

It's fair to say that Nintendo is not getting as much attention as its two main rivals in the run-up to the next generation. Company president Satoru Iwata wants to change that. Iwata will be delivering a keynote address at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

Nintendo has never had an official presence at the Tokyo Game Show, the company choosing instead to hold its own occasional event, Space World. Even last year, when TGS took place just weeks before the launch of the DS, Nintendo was nowhere to be seen

I read somewhere a while back (around E3) that Nintendo was going to have a Spaceworld again this year. Maybe the scrapped that for a TGS showing?

After seeing the XBOX360 (still think that's a silly name) bundles on gamestop I think the Revolution's key feature should be: "Selling systems without having to buy a $1600 bundle with crap you don't need"

The bundles are not Microsoft's fault. EB and Gamestop pull that crap with every system. That is one of the many reasons I shop there at an absolute minimum.

Yeah, I thought so too. Maybe they changed their mind on that one.

I thought the motion capture was utilized better in the arcades in that cop shooting game and the boxing game.

Not to mention the Sega Activator (?) which was a button-less motion based controller and the Konami Para Para Pardise controller for the PS2, another button-less motion based controller for another DDR style game (with horrible music).

It had lots of buttons, but was designed to use without them. Even after all these years it still looks pretty damn cool. Too bad it didn't work worth a shit.

Confession time: I paid $75 for that thing when it came out.

How about the U-force or whatever it was? I remember playing Punchout with that thing, and it was pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this months ago in a thread but with mid September as the date the Revolution is rumored to be revealed I wanted to again make my prediction.

The Revolution has nothing to do with a gaming revolution. Nintendo is using it as a code word for the gyros in the controller. If you look at the Revolution logo its pretty obvious this is about revolving and not changing the industry. I'm not 100% sure how the controller will end up looking, but revolving it to control games is definitely the big "secret" of the revolution. Is this really going to be a big deal? Don't know, but replacing the R stick with simply rotating the controller to target and move will be very welcome for me if it ends up being true. Of course Nintendo will find a ton of other ways to use it in games.

I hope somehow the controller is two seperate pieces. I've been sick of having to hold my hands so close together for the past upteen years. Being able to keep my arms by my side and hands spread apart would eleviate minor carpal-tunnel issues that have been cramping me lately. Gyroscopes-cool, as long as it's wireless. I'll hang on to my Wavebirds for all my Gamecube games too.

Great point darkside! I'd never thought of "revolution" in that sense.

You're probably right. And I agree that gyroscope for aiming etc. would be awesome and would even rival mouse aiming if they can do it well. I never got very proffecient at using two sticks at the same time. Was a strugle to get through Halo on Normal.

The logo on the Revolution console shown at E3 had the Os standing out much more than the rest of the letters.

Notice how the left "O" is bigger than the right "o"?

Any idea what that could be referring too?
