Of course a lot of stores haven't filled all their 360 pre-orders yet, but at least those people know they'll eventually get one without having to check stores repeatedly. |
Any stores taking PS3 pre-orders yet?? This is one system i want at launch!!
|
I don't think anyone will take preorders until the date and price are set. I'm hoping for info during the CES show in January.

I found this gif about the boomerang on Joystiq.com.

I don't think we'll see a price or release date at CES. Sony isn't going to reveal a Japanese release date and price at an American show. What we (hopefully) find out is an online network plan, and some playable demos of games.
There has to be an upcoming games show in Japan where they can make an announcement. Otherwise, they'll just have a press conference. |
|
I will be pre-ordering this from a more legitimate place this time. I may even pre-order from two places just so I dont get tossed under the carpet again.
We would also like to thank some of the idiotic people in the trading forum for providing us a really good laugh. Sell a PS3 with sharp rug tooler weapons and they even believe this. Oh lord. |

I distinctly remember seeing preorder signs up and thinking that it was crazy because we had no idea how much the system would really be... |

Scroll down and watch the "Motorstorm" video. The developer confirms that it was running real-time on a PS3, though with the AI and physics turned off. So it was running in game engine, but somewhat disabled. I hope they can stuff all those turned off processes inside the Cells so it doesn't affect how the game looks, but that will have to wait to be seen. |
I'm #1 on FYE's waiting list. :D

Based on what happened with the 360 I'll probably preorder PS3 from BB or Amazon.com |

There was this photoshopped pic of Batman holding the PS3 controller somewhere in another thread, but I can't find it.
Does anyone remember the picture? Or perhaps a link? |
AMD and IBM are going to start producing 65nm Cell chips which use silicon straining in the later half of next year in order to cut power consumption by 40%. No word if these would be used in a Version 2 of the PS3 come 2007.

Epic has made a couple statements about Unreal Tournament 2007:
1) It will be a PS3 title. 2) It will support a mouse and keyboard on the PS3. 3) It is currently running at 50 fps on an early dev kit. "PC gamers are used to having the absolute cutting edge graphics - console players are just going to say 'Wow!'" He bellowed. "When you see the game running on PS3, it's going to be smoother. You're not going to have the operating system in the way and all the other things that can make a PC game look 'poppy'." http://www.computerandvideogames.com...(que)id=131249 |
I don't like having a mouse and keyboard option for FPS console games.
Some may say that giving the option is nice, but I think it unlevels the playing field. *Edited to add FPS as that was my intention. |
Why do we want to make consoles just like PCs again?

Some may say that giving the option is nice, but I think it unlevels the playing field. But if it means that we get more strategy games like Age of Empires, etc. that require a mouse, then I'm all for it. That is the one thing that is lacking on consoles, Empire Building / God Games that are for the PC. Chris |

... or they could just separate controller users and KB&M users during online play, and change the difficulty based on what input is used.
*screaming from the rooftops* We want options! But not that one! I guess you can't please people who just want to talk negatively about a Sony console. |
Mouse & Keyboard was a flop for DC. I'm fairly sure it will be the same here.

In what way did I or have I spoken badly about the PS3? I always buy all the consoles and I read this thread because I'm excited about getting a PS3. Please don't make accusations as it was not warranted in this case. KB&M support in a console FPS has nothing to do with Sony. |

It what way did I make it seem I was directing that comment at you? I didn't quote you, nor did I post directly after you. |
Interesting interview with Phil Harrison:

EA states the Fight Night Round 3 for the 360 is a completely different game than Fight Night Round 3 for the PS3:
This is the same if not better graphical quality as the footage that wowed people at E3 when it was running on PS3. Don't confuse this with Fight Night on PS3, however. According to EA's Kudo Tsunoda, "The PS3 [version] is going to be a totally different game, just because the Xbox 360 launches before the PS3 launches. So it's going to be much more of a kinda Fight Night 4 PS3 version and Fight Night 3 Xbox 360 version." |
I believe that the new PS2 chipset that is running in the new 75001 series PS2s is the same one that Sony will be using in PS3. Because of this, I have added the Incompatible Games list to the games section (first page) based on this assumption.

Those who chose to wait in line for the premium showing were given a Valkyrie Profile calendar and were treated exclusively to a third trailer. This mysterious trailer starts off with the title "Valkyrie Profile," then breaks off into footage that looks far too good to be a PS2 game but not solid enough to be pre-rendered CG. We got the feeling that we were seeing a next generation installment in the Valkyrie Profile series, but when we asked the staff on hand, they seemed to genuinely not know what we were talking about. |

AQ Interactive will be developing a game called Vampire's Rain for the PS3:
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3146484 And I also added that stipulation to the incompatible games list, per your request. |
UT 2007 will be a PS3 launch title and be PS3/PC exclusive.
