That's right. I didn't mean "all" that's why I said "some". Dannyakhtar could very well be an adult, but his comments sure aren't.
You seem to think my initial comment was directed at you. Why you would think so is beyond me.
I mean, I could bring up how us "kids" are going to have to fix all the problems you "adults" created for us, but I mean...this is a video game forum.
What in the world are you talking about?

No, I don't think it was directed towards me---personally. Thus, my original realization----comments like these aren't aimed at all "kids." But the elitist "my-generation-is-surely-better" attitude, which is the same attitude that Gromit exhibits, is ridiculous. My point is simple: idiots come in all ages, so why not just leave age out completely?

Perhaps I got a little melodramatic with the last comment , but I'm merely saying it's too late for my generation to mess up the world, so no worries there.

I heard it when I was younger, you'll say the same thing when you hit 30: kids are morons.

Seriously, neither myself nor Centurion made a blanket statement that all kids are like danny. You pointed this out yourself.

Back on topic...

Does anyone know if this game will allow you to switch between the different soldiers in your squad? I think this will be great to allow you to utilize the different specialties (i.e. long range, support, sapper, etc.). I'd like to be able to use the different guns in the game and take on different roles within the same map/level. I think that would be a nice feature.

Let me preface this post by saying that I've followed this game since the first screens came out. I've salivated over this the same way some of my friends have salivated over SC Chaos Theory and Halo 2. As for reviews the Official XBOX Magazine gave it a 2.8/10, but the UK OXM gave it 8.5/10, and that's the difference between a good game and a turd. I bought it this morning, but I'm not opening it until I see a review from IGN, Team XBOX, or Gamespot. I can't afford another 40 dollar turd like Project Snowblind. I'm just so disappointed with that review.

While there's no offical review there's (34) player reviews/ratings on the game at Gamespot. The average is a 9.4/10. I know that don't mean much but it's something. Also check http://www.IGN.com for several short videos just released 4/06. On my post (#2) I didn't give the right link to the offical website. I fixed it yesterday.

when did this magazine come out? I haven't gotten it yet in the mail. Is that correct --- a 2.8 in OXM!!! That magazine usually overrates games. What did it say that sucked about it?? Looks great from the videos.

just saw on IGN...they gave it 8.0

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/602/602562p1.html

sounds like the graphics and animation are not very good, but they said the gameplay is solid. I will wait to pick this up I think...I would like to hear reviews from people on this board.

At first glance, I thought the exact opposite would be true.
I'd also like to hear from others here, but I think the problem is we're all waiting for each other.

I don't get how IGN gave the game and 8.0 and OXM gave the game a 2.8. OXM must have had an unfinished version or something....there should not be that big of a gap between the reviews. I hope my OXM will come in the mail soon. For those of you who have it -- what is on the demo disc??

I think OXM was waaay too harsh on their rating. I mean, have they ever given a game that low of a score?
I get their point if they are trying to convey that we should stay away from this title at all costs, however, I doubt something that is being developed to be used as a simulation for the USMC would be considered a 2.8; that's just exaggeration in my opinion.

There's some debate on other forums that OXM mixed up the review with Combat Task Force 121 or something along those lines. 2.8 is rather harsh and I don't see how a 5.2% ratings gap could exist. I tend to trust IGN and Gamespot more than OXM anyways, so it's no matter to me.

I agree...something is fishy....there is no way in hell there should be that big of a gap...i have been waiting for gamespot to put a review up. I don't know what the hell is taking them so long.

Well I've checked both recent issues of OXM and there's nothing in them period. I rechecked Gamespot and still nothing there. But there are more "community reviews" than yesterday. It's up to (74) from (34) reviews and the avg. is 9.0. It's the same at IGN. As stated their's is a 8.0 but there's also (18) player reviews and the avg. is 9.1.

And I don't buy anything negative on these graphics. From the screen shots alone it looks very detailed. I'm sure in the next week we'll here more about this.

The graphics will work for me, so long as those screen shots are actual in-game pics.

Also, there has to be a mix-up here. Like I said before, a score of 2.8 for a game of this type is an exaggeration. Imagine if you will that the game really does suck. Can it really be so bad as to score less than this...

OXM gave this 67%.

Well I cracked open my copy of it and it's simply put one of the best combat shooters I've ever played. The graphics aren't the best, but the squad commands more than make up for it. The enemy AI is not as good as Brothers in Arms, but it's still very good. AI targets are all over the place, up high, down low, hidden behind objects, and they will flank you. They also whistle calling for re-inforcements. Your squad's AI is very good, they cover for each other as they do various tasks like climbing ladders, etc. The way you clear a room is incredible. You put your cursor over a door, and select either Grenade or a storm type command, then click A on the door again, and they go in Guns a blazin. I haven't played it online yet, as most of my clan-mates don't have it yet, but the singleplayer is more challenging and much better than Rainbow Six IMO. Singleplayer in Rainbow flat out sucks IMO due to the lack of squad AI, this game does a nice job at it. Now for the negatives, the graphics aren't the best, there are some clipping issues, you have to hit Y to talk online, but the game more than makes up for the shortcomings. I'd match IGN's review and maybe rate it just a little higher. If you're looking for a FSW type FPS, then this isn't the game for you, but it's very good.

I started playing today and so far it's enjoyable and looks stunning, when it works right Quite frankly it seems like a beta release at points; shadows of your own team floating in mid air, some sever clipping issues at times, being able to walk through your own guys, etc... I do agree the squad command system is pretty good, but unfortunately it's not like the combat series where you can switch between the members of your team. I haven't been able to find a walk-through yet so I'm not sure how far into I am (I'm at the subway on the way to American University) unfortunately I seem to be stuck/keep dying in an ambush

Edit: I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best/most skillful gamer in the world but I'm finding the missions more and more tedious as the game goes on. More frequently you are ambushed/sniped out of nowhere and it's starting to make the game lose it's luster IMHO.

can you save during missions?? I am kind of spoiled by Doom 3 and Ghost Recon 2 's save anywhere feature. Thanks...I am still on the fence on this one.

I already returned it... just got fed up w/ it but IIRC you can't, in fact once you quit and return to the save game it puts you at the beginning of the mission not even the last check point you made it too

I wonder, does the ambush happen in the same area? Are you getting sniped in the same place? Or does this change from game to game?

I'm just curious, if the game is scripted it would play like a trial-and-error type game (Splinter Cell is the first that comes to mind). However, if you're getting sniped at different locations each time you have to restart, I think that's pretty cool because it makes you tread more carefully. I would get more satisfaction completing a stage where you can get killed at anytime-anywhere. That being said, almost all games of this type are scripted to help the drama/storyline progress but that's where Enemy AI should make up for it.

Off topic, but...

Where are you buying your games that allow you to return after opening it?
