Same exact thing happened to me. Verification wanted me to login and it wouldn't accept my password and name that i had just setup. Very odd. Luckily Kingdom of Loathing and Halo 2 are occupying so much of my time

If I recall correctly, you have to verify your account through their webpage, and to do that, you click Verify or whatever in the client, and it takes you to the page, and asks for your username and password. The password here is the verification code from the email. Your user/pass to get into the game is your username and standard password. This is how I did the verification, I believe. So give that a shot.

Not working for me. It says the ID isn't valid... because, of course, it's not activated yet

yeah i had to set up a whole new account with a different email for it to finally work... yes you have to log in and verify in the user preferences..

Ok, I just redid the thing and I can do it now. Must be some sort of bug. A shame I lost my username out of it.

actually yes i just stopped playing FFXI, but that had a storyline and quests.. which is what i was asking about
