Anyone actually find Nanostray yet? The reviews have only been so-so, but it looks like it might be a fun shooter for $30. However, I can't find it anywhere other than the Gamespot website. No game or retail stores seem to carry it.

Woohoo!

My order at Overstock shipped today.

I ordered it on 7/22/05 and it shipped on 7/24/05. The total for it was less than at GameStop also, just $29.50.

I think I just BARELY got it also, because it already says that it's not in stock anymore on the site.

EDIT:

And now they took this game off of Overstock completely.

You have to buy new planets, items, etc., there are tons of unlockables. You can get different endings by doing the multi-route missions

It's up for order at Overstock again. If you want this game for under $30, then you better grab one quick.

Heck, if you want one period you better grab it quick, heh.

Some of the local Gamestops got them in stock today and I believe all are now sold out. Most were out by the time I got out of work, but I found one that still had a copy and they held it for me. Very good game. Not a Treasure shooter, but very good and very challenging. Love the look of the levels and I really like the weapons. Tapping the touch screen to change weapons isn't bad at all. After about 10 minutes I got fairly quick at changing between them.

Really sucks this game is so hard to find because it is well worth $30 if you like these old school shooters.

bought a copy of Nanostray a couple of days ago at my local TRU. haven't been able to play it a whole ton since I got it, but the time I did get to play it I really liked it. can't say I liked the whole weapon switching a whole lot, but again I haven't played it much and it might be easy for me later.

everyone should definitely call up their local TRU to see if they have this game, since it seems like TRU does get a lot of Majesco games in stock.

I picked a copy of Nanostray up at TRU yesterday, so they are out there. Of course, I wouldn't have bothered if not for this thread... I still haven't played Meteos much, and my Canvas Curse is still in the wrap. Ah well..

3?

I had something simular to that happen to me when Ultimate card games came out for the GBA, I accidently had 2 shipped from gamestop seperatly. I forgot that I had it pre-ordered a couple of months from the release date, then a day before it was released I ordered it again. Imagine my surprise when I received two shipping e-mails

Speaking of that game, supposedly according to Gamestop.com a DS version is being released on 11-21-05 and according to ebgames.com its 11-8-05. Plus a few weeks ago it showed up as being released on 8-2-2005

Not sure of the exact release dates, but Ultimate Card and Brain games are must buys for me. They were excellent on the GBA, but really needed touch screen like they are on PDAs. Can't wait, especially if online play is included as rumored.

A freind of mine took advantage of Lik-Sang's free shipping deal and bought a black DS and since the deal required the purchase of a game to get the free shipping he imported Electoplankton. Now I want it. The game was a crazy experience.

Each strand of Electroplankton has several different patterns that can be accessed by hitting "Select" and the stylus/microphone/buttons alter each composition. One of the levels involved moving leaves to bounce "seeds" to other leaves which then would make notes before hitting the water. With a bunch a leaves positioned the right way you could get the seed to bounce from one to another and, for lack of a better word, stimulate the plant which then would blossom. As many as 5 seeds could be launched and the music was affected by every touch or launch. That was just one of the Electroplankton programs. It really was a cool experience and I'm interested to see what my friend figures out. Add another title to my must have DS list. BTW the game came with a set of marble blue Nintendo ear buds which were actually pretty nice-added perk.

Just a heads up...

Anyone looking for Nintendogs, EBGames has a deal going on where you can trade in any 3 Gameboy Advance games and get Nintendogs for free (Preorder obviously as it doesn't arrive until 8/22).

I just did it this morning but you may want to call first and ask if they are aware of the offer. I called, and the dude put me on hold for a bit then confirmed it...So I ran over with my 3 crappo games.

Read through the reviews in the recent EGM and it was a bad month for portable games. Nanostray and Pac N Roll both scored very low. Nanostray got straight 5s and Pac N Roll ended up averaging over 6.

The good news was Advance Wars DS which ended up with a 8.8 average and received the silver award. Definitely a must buy on the 22nd of August.

I AM SO THERE! I RARELY buy games at time of launch, due to me being cheap when it comes to games, (yet I gamble up to $1,000 a week)

I will get this release week. Thank goodness it is coming out so soon, I was thinking more like X-Mas time. Late b-day gift for me.

I think my girlfriend will kill me if I don't get my own DS when Dawn of Sorrow comes out. If she doesn't I'm not sure if I can limit myself to playing that game on weekends only and when she's NOT caught up in Harvest Moons. Temptation to import black DS rising.. rising..

I don't know anything about Pac & Roll, but that score for Nanostray just flat out sucks and isn't fair at all. I've been playing the heck out of it, and I'm having a ball.

I have mixed feelings about the review. They basically said it should have come in a plain white box with the words "verticle space shooter" on it. They didn't feel there was enough there to warrant a good review, however, this complaint could be made about most shooters even some of the better Treasure shooters. They are all short, but require a lot of replay to get good at.

The review I felt was the most fair was the Gamespot review. They gave it a decent review and a 6.5 score. It is not the best shooter I have played, but it does have a lot of different modes to play and probably the best looking backgrounds of any DS game. Its a decent game, but it doesn't hold up well against games like Meteos and Kirby which I am still playing.

I was thrilled to read that IS made some substantive additions to Advance Wars' gameplay.

Thats where I originally found the deal and it worked out great for me, I just thought I would pass the word to my fellow DVDTalk game fans.

That was one of my first DS purchases. Its an excellent stylus and the weight makes it much easier to use when gaming.

I have also seen the Black DS up close and it is very, very sharp looking. I'm shocked NOA hasn't brought it out over here. Well worth importing one along with Electroplankton.
