Yeah but GTA lets you listen to the station of your choice. I love hip hop and even I hope they don't do an all hip hop sound track. I like variety in music, some of my best crime sprees in Vice City were done to Twisted Sister and Ozzy.

Just broke down and preordered at ebgames.com
They had a free 2 day air shipping option that sold me.

I still stand by my rumor that 50 cent will play a role in this game. :) Also I assume the soundtrack wont be just one genre.

EDIT:
Plot details from Gamespot

"Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets."

Very nice.

The GTA series is second only to the GT series in my opinion. Even though I'm not West Coast (bigger fan of the ATL and East Coast scene), it's still gonna be a must buy for me.

I like the story, definitely a nice twist from the Italian-type mobsters featured in previous games.

Can't wait!!!

fumanstan 05-12-04 06:11 PM

Sounds good to me. I don't see why the setting would be that big of a turn off. Just replace italian gangsters with modern ones :)

Awesome

He almost sounds like a "good guy"(like a Max Payne type of guy) I guess that's cool but I would rather be a thug working my way to the top by killing everybody in my way. But I guess since it seems the character will be Black and after the whole "kill the Hatians" issue I guess they don't want to get Jesse, Al, and whatever other attention whore "Black Leaders" riled up.

I hope so. I'm stuck in the musical early 90's anyway. :p

It's also just going to be cool to see a non-white main character in an A-list game release.

This is what intrigues me the most. Sounds like you're not "limited" to one huge city this time. Could be a lot of fun...

If they use actual tunes, yeah, but they might go original like in GTA 3.

Gallant Pig 05-12-04 11:38 PM

I'm guessing they have enuff $$$ to license more like the Vice City.

Very doubtful. the original used fake tunes for the sole reason that it wasn't being offered tunes to play and other legal items. Rockstar games is huge now. Any rap group from that era (whatever it may be) will be tossing cash at them to get their songs in. Look at how much popularity it has brought to flock of seagels (sp) just for having the song in the commercial.

Another thing of interest. police choppers have a nice spot light effect now and home invasions are another side to doing jobs. I can't wait to see those protest groups have a field day with this game. I'm lovin' it.

shaun3000 05-13-04 02:15 AM

Looks awesome. Do they have video of the game? Or playable copies? Or just the pictures?

Fake tunes? That wasn't music I was listening to?

PopcornTreeCt 05-13-04 11:40 AM

Hope they throw in some Nirvana or Pearl Jam aside from the expected gangsta rap.

I'm sure there will be a decent rock channel. But you'll never get pearl jam or nirvana.

spankyj 05-13-04 12:13 PM

Pearl Jam sold out a long time ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the soundtrack at all.

Where did you get this screenshot from? Looks cool.

Also I assume there will be a pretty significant amount of grunge music in the game seeing as that was the really popular in the early 90's. Soundgarden Badmotorfinger baby!

MJKTool 05-13-04 03:11 PM

hahaha that screenshot looks awesome! this game is gonna be a blast! :D
