Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

I'm rather annoyed with the difficulty as well. I'm at the speed boost boss right now, and while I've only tried to kill him a couple times, I really don't feel the urge to keep trying. It'd be a shame if this is the first metroid I don't play all the way through, but for some reason, this one just isn't hooking me like the others have.
BTW, am I the only one who finds some of these worlds too cluttered? There are a ton of rooms where there is so much crap (like weeds or whatever) going all over the place that I have to constantly check the map to get the layout of the room.

I'm about 5.5 hours in and up until this point I found the game to be just about the right difficulty, if even a bit easy. The save points are pretty much perfectly spread out. I got totally creamed by the Boost Guardian though last night and barely got a 1/4 of it's life down. It was only my first try and it was pretty late so I didn't try again but I think that's going to be a tough battle; fortunatley there's a save station in the next room.

Yes the boost ball Guardian is one of the toughest. The thing that is great about the boss battles is that you really do get better each time you fight them. It isn't an unfair fight, you just have to figure out what the best way is to deafeat them.
The boost ball guardian I died on several times as well as the last boss. The only other boss that killed me was the Chykka. Then again I didn't have that much trouble on Metroid Fusion either.
The one aspect that I think is "cheap" of them is the stupid scan logs. I hate that they throw in one stupid enemy that only appears at a certain time and only if you turn around and scan it. It threw me off on the first Prime when I thought I scanned everything and was off by quite a bit. But this one I was determined to scan every little thing but missed one little thing. That ticks me off.

I remember a few bosses in the game seeming impossible the first time I played them, but I got better each fight and beat them. I thought the difficulty was pretty good, challenging but fair.

I am definitely enjoying this game a lot but I liked the first one better. I don't really care much for the Dark side of Metroid Prime 2.

Damn, very early on and I already wasted an hour and a half being stuck
I missed the pillar you had to shoot with missles to knock down and make a bridge to get to the door to the bomb guardian. Was back tracking and looking all over but needed bombs or a translator to get any further.

I'm digging the game the more I play it. I got the space jump tonight, and played a while longer. Believe I'm at the save room before getting the dark beam from what I read in scans.
I'm not a huge fan of the dark world. I love the two world idea, but taking damage from the air and having to stand around in the light to heal gets old and really slows down the pace of the game.

From: NYC * See da name? Go get me some coffee...
Just finished MP2 with 97% ugh.....
Regarding the ending:
Overall the game was pretty decent fun. Well worth me buying a GC for. Now my GC will sleep until Zelda comes out
Can't wait!
Moving forward I would love to see Metroid move in a different direction. Hear me out...
It's getting old with her ship crashing on a planet and bla bla bla....What I would love to see is a SPACE ADVENTURE! Meaning, she'll track down baddies Ala Bounty Hunter style. She'll travel to different worlds to pick up items, clues and fight baddies. I think it would be very cool seeing Samus in this light. It still will be a FPA game, but with a different twist in story and adventure.

I'm right at the last boss. Still missing 1 energy tank and 1-2 missile packs. For some reason I only have 76% scans, I don't know how that could be, I've scanned everything I've seen except for a few of the bosses at the beginning.
I figured I was at least at 90%.
Anyway, when I get back to it, I'll go and hunt for those few missing items. I hope the last boss isn't too tough as I'll chicken out. The game's finished as far as I'm concerned and I've got other stuff to do with my time.

Just beat the game last weekend, 93%. It was an awesome game, loved the screw attack. One of the things I loved is that the metroid prime series has really set a new standard for epic boss battles that change and evolve over the course of battle as you pound your enemy and they are forced to come up with new ways to combat you, and likewise causing you to change your own strategy and come up with new ways to beat them. Not to mention this game has some pretty touch boss fights, but overall it was just the right difficulty.

Anybody finding the new color-coated scan system difficult to get used to? I guess I'm not sure what was so inefficient with the last sytem or what is so much more efficient with this new system. I find it just plain difficult to tell what I'm looking at.
I've also noticed more in Echoes than Prime that after scanning an enemy, it seems to take a little longer to get out of my scan visor mode and start shooting at it before it shoots me.

Yay!!! Finally beat this game tonite.
Got all 100% scan. Total time was 23:51
Thought on the game, pretty good sequeal not as tough as the first one. Emperor Ing was a annoying boss to beat cause you have to fight him in three form but he wasn't hard as the last boss in the first Metroid Prime. After beating Dark Samus the final time I was disappointed with the ending I thought it was pretty lame after all that scanning.
. Despite that I still enjoyed playing this game and highly recommend this for anyone getting the Gamecube.

Beat the boost guardian today, major pain in the ass. Glad to see some here said that was the worst boss!
Now trying to figure out how to get the next hint mark.
Also, the ending is determined by % items right? So scans only unlock image galleries? I ask as I didn't scan the boost guardian the time I beat him, I decided it was wasting to much time and just started off attacking him and ended up taking about 2/3's of his power before the first time he went to ball form.

Beat a few more bosses, and just finished the second temple.
Loving the game, but hating the bosses. Not really that they're too hard, they just take too damn long. Even once you figure them out they take too long to kill. Seems like I'm wasting at least an hour on each between figuring out how to damage them in each form, their patterns, and actually executing it.
Might go to gamefaqs for a boss faq so I can just get straight to the execution phase of the remaining boss battles to speed things up a little as I'm really not enjoying that aspect of the game at all. Never was much of a fan of bosses period.
The zelda series got bosses right IMO in that 95% of them are easy to execute once you figure out and the battles don't take too long most of the time.
