ok, i just picked up Sonic Mega Collection for the GC... sonic was my favorite game. honestly though, for me, it is true - there is no going back. after a few minutes, i couldn't take it anymore and the gameplay seemed so trite.

Wow....no one mentioned Herzog Zwei! Still a great, great game all these years later. Think of it as one of the first RTS games.

Tommy Lasorda Baseball. Sure it was easy as hell but it was fun.

Golden Axe - A true classic. The best multiplayer game of its time, my friends and I could play this for hours.

Strider - One of the most innovative 2D scrollers.

NHL Hockey - Not a big hockey fan, but I loved this game.

Moonwalker - Silly but fun.

Phantasy Star 2 - One of the few true RPGs I've ever enjoyed.

The Thunder Force series never did anything for me until III, which had me at the swirling fire background. The fourth, Lightening Force, remains one of my Genesis favorites, second only to Gunstar Heroes.

I'll also second Alien Syndrome (especially when a second player is involved) and Landstalker.

1. Sword of Vermillion. One of the best RPGs ever.

2. NHL Hockey, 94 preferably. Until Halo came along, no game ever got more multiplayer action.

3. Strider. I still remember playing this game all day Xmas day 1990 and getting in trouble for making the family late for Xmas dinner. Great graphics, best gameplay to date.

4. Revenge of Shinobi. One of the best 2D scrolling games ever, got a first generation Genesis game, the graphics were light years ahead of its time.

5. Herzog Zwei. Such an original game, really a blast to play.

oh yeah, Shinobi III was pretty kick ass. Good graphics and hard!

Forgotten Worlds

I never owned a Genesis, but I borrowed this game and the console from my best friend (back in Jr. High) for a day. Played the hell out of it, finishing it around 4 or 5 times.
