My quick review (its late, excuse my grammer and spelling)...

The gun is AWESOME Looking. It comes packed inside a box where you hav to peice it together (which is actually kinda cool). It stands arund 3 feet tall with all the attachments. It is a PAIN IN THE ASS to calibrate his thing. Keep that in mind when buying this gun. I have to turn the brightness in the game to FULL power for it to respond. However, once that is done, it feels great. Yes, my gun has the dying cat noise as well, but that can be turned off. I really love the feel of the gun, an the pump action shot gun for HOTD3.

gizmodvd, ahh thanks for your mini review I have had the gun for a while now, and just bought the game last night, but I have to watch my 3 year old nephew today, so unlike too many people in this world, I would rather not let heplay with this gun(or any gun for that matter), so I cannot play it until tonight or tomorrow. My 2 buddys are buying the game and guns, so we may hook up 3 tvs next to each other, which should be fun

The key to not straining your eyes on a washed out screen is to raise the brightness and contrast of your tv. I'm using a seperate video setup for this game. I hope I'm not doing any damage to the TV playing with it so bright and so high of contrast. It's a 27" wega.

kaze0, that is what I will most likely play this on as well, I have the Hidef 40" Wega but do not want to risk burn in, by setting it in torch mode.

I cannot wait until they can develop a gun that will work with dlp tv's, because once Samsung releases the 73" later this year, I will defintiely be buying that monster

Well I was able to find it but to be honest w/ you this thing SUCKS First off w/ the balance of left and right handers almost reaching parity why anyone would come up w/ a game accessory that is designed w/ a handedness is beyond me It's a communistic right handed world As others have mentioned you really have to turn up the brightness to get any sort of response out of it, this gives all the games a washed out effect The "kick-back" is joke and while I wouldn't use the phrase dying cat myself the noise is joke as well. Additionally it's either both or neither (as far as I could tell). One final thing I didn't notice during the games but on the menus (esp when trying to calibrate it within a game itself) it would sometimes act like a button was pressed when nothing was. I would just be sitting there on the main menu and suddenly the "Do you really want to quit" screen would come up. As mentioned during calibration it would take several attempts for it to stay on the "shoot here" calibration screen instead of switching almost immediately back to the option menu screen

On to the interaction w/ the games now, I guess I should preface everything by saying I've never really played any of these games before so my skill level may explain some of the problems but not all IMHO... I played the first part of SS and SS3. Overall I like the feel of 3 better as I hate games w/ countdown timers. However at the end of the first level of SS3 there is a weird interaction I was getting w/ the rifle and the game where I couldn't get focused on Cobra before he shot me and disappeared. Perhaps playing around w/ the sensitivty of the "scope" is needed, but I also noticed using the controller it had a hard time switching between the two aiming modes at this point in the game as well. Additionally if you are using the gun to aim at the edge of the screen you might as well give it, I would constantly get stuck there for awhile. On SS overall I was having a little better luck (both w/ and w/o the gun) but the overall structure of that game annoyed me more

All I can say is hopefully House of the Dead will be better otherwise this whole thing is a bust (aka I may be looking for someone to trade w/ soon ).

The scope is near useless and is the reason for the weird behavior you are experiencing in the menus. It takes too long to deactivate and its too iffy on how long it takes to activate. I just keep my head on the scope and zoom w/ the button unless I'm in a close combat area.

thanks for the suggestion, that certainly helped make the game a little more enjoyable/workable Still not sure about this whole thing though... like I said hopefully it'll work better w/ HoD.

Ah... I had heard the first part of the rumor not the second Guess I'll have to hit the local EBs and see if it's still available. I seem to recall there were a couple of used copies but that was before the rifle came out

outpost.com is the only place I've seen that offers a pre-order for the game at the 19.99 price. All other online (and B&M) stores have talked to have no idea about the 19.99 rerelease. Maybe its a outpost.com special, maybe not.
