I heard that sega is re-releasing House of the Dead 3 on Feb 18th for $19.99, at least I think that's the date.

If that's true then I will pick that game up along with Silent Scope Complete and the gun.

To sort of repeat what has already been said......

I just bought this at the Fair Oaks BB, and it was $45 after coupon.

Silent Scope complete comes out on the 12th per the guy at BB.

I'll post a quick review once I get that and actually play with this cool looking gun.

I think Outpost.com/Fry's put in a special order for House of the Dead 3. I spoke to an emp at EB and they don't have it listed as being re-released, but who knows, he may have been wrong.

Anyone else pick this up yet or have more news about it? I'm intrigued but the "dead cat" noise doesn't sound too plesant I also noticed a few sites seem to be speculating a future version of it will come w/ the SS Complete packed in. Anyone else heard about this?

I read that somewhere too but can't remember where. Should be cheaper if sold as a bundle.

Well, I'm going to wait until tomorrow or later to buy the rifle... the fine print on the $10 rebate says it only applies to purchases made between 2/10 - 3/10...

Per a Konami rep:

Silent Scope Complete is not a bundle. It's a stand alone game. MadCatz and
Pelican have light gun peripherals that you can get.

Wrong quote, should have been directed at the one I posted afterwards.

Still, Fry's/Outpost put in a special order for House of the Dead 3, never said it was bundled with Silent Scope Complete or even the Sniper Rifle.

Even though, there may be a bundle later with the Sniper Scope and a game, not necessarily put together by Konami. I was responding to another post.

ok I just got a chance to open up my sniper rifle, and this thing is huge, it rivals the size of the SB controller, I am 6'3" and from the barrel to the stock it comes up to my waist, this thing is going to be great, I am goign to check any local stores tonight to see if they have SSC, hopefully BB does because I have 4$10 rewardzone certifactes

FYI BB is having 10% on 2/13-2/16

If you earn enough points they give you higher denominations. I'm pretty sure I ended up w/ a $20 one at one point.

WRT the topic at hand unfortunately the closest BB doesn't seem to have it

I picked up the game. With the gun it plays entirely different from the arcade. In the arcade you are an ace sniper. Playing this game you feel like you've never picked up a rifle before. The cursor floats, the auto zoom isn't entirely effective, and I have to have the brightness all the way to be able to have the gun be useable. I'm hoping because it's daytime right now and it's fairly light where I'm playing that it needs to be this way. I'll post a better review tonight.

I figured out that a set calibrated with Avia seems to be to dark to use for the gun on this game. I had to up the tv contrast and brightness. I'm still trying to find the optimal setting. Right now blacks are a fairly dark grey, but I got rid of the washed out look from using the ingame brightness control.

kaze0, thanks for the impression... the gun doesn't sound too promising for this game (maybe I am too naive to think that a $50 gun can duplicate the arcade experience). If anyone else wants to give their experience with the rifle + SC, that would be great!

The whole experience is undeniably cool, and definately worth the extra cash. It's not exactly the arcade but it's fun.

This thing rocks. It is pretty heavy and the scope thing works really well even if it is not an LCD screen. Your eyes do get tired looking through the scope though. You really don't need the scope but it adds to the cool factor.
I actually picked this thing up while traveling and I was able to hook it up to the hotel TV with the RF modulator. The only thing is that the target will not go all the way the the left. It doesn't effect too much of the gameplay, but I wonder if it just because of the crappy hotel TV. It does go all the way to the right and you do have to have the contrast up as stated earlier. I have tried calibrating it several times to go further to the left but it doesn't seem to help. I will have to try on my TV at home.
I don't know why the game is rated 'M', it doesn't seem too violent other than shooting bad guys. I have seen rated 'T' games with more violence.
Overall a good experience if you like shooters

I'm having the same problems you were. Maybe if I was to find a way to mount this on a table like in the arcade version, it'll be easier to play. My arms and eyes got tired before I even cleared the first stage of part 1. Not good. But for $50, it does what it says it does. Just go in with low expectations I guess.

Also anybody looking to find the gun at an EB, don't hold your breath. We got an e-mail today at work saying that we won't stock the gun until late March, and even then it'll be limited quanity.
