Wow this game is fun. I haven't raced anyone online yet, but I'm really impressed at how integrated Live is. Can't wait to play more...

To save me from reading this 7 page thread, how would you rate this game for soley the single player non-live experience?

I'm interested in it, but have no broadband (and no plans to get it) and no interest in online gaming.

Still awesome.. if you like arcade style racers they don't get any better than this. Period.

If you want more sim style.. probably wait for the next Turismo.

Toughey for me. I much prefer the sim style of the GT games, but I've gotten sick of all the doing the same race over and over to get more money to upgrade your care and by new cars. It was awful in GT3 with all the manufacturer races that would require you to spend a ton of money to buy and upgrade a crappy car just to win one race.

I'd really like to see something with GT gameplay, minus all the money. Maybe just have less cars ala PGR2 and win new cars and parts to upgrade, and have the sim control of the GT series.

I think that if PGR2 had upgrades you could purchase for your car, along with some visual modifications, it would be the best racing game yet.

I love driving games, and I have a lot of them: GT3, NFS: HP2, Sega GT2002, PGR, PGR2, Midnight Club 2, and Rallisport Challenge.

PGR2 is the most fun in a racing game I've had since GT3. Best racing game on Xbox ever. I won't compare it to GT3, because they are different types of games. But I really think that every racing fan owes it to themselves to get this game. And this is coming from someone who doesn't have Xbox Live and is playing it only for the single player experience.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I brought my XBox to my parents' house for Christmas so I could play with my cousins and I was bummed out when I couldn't show off some of my world rankings to them.

I'm still working towards getting that TVR.

Can anyone recommend a racing wheel that works well with PGR2?

I read some other threads, but recommendations were pretty lukewarm.

I have 1,070,000 kudos (kudos rank 46) in the single player aspect of the game. Considering the next kudos rank requires 110,000 more kudos & it's getting really hard to get platinums (and even some golds in arcade mode), I think I'm done with this game.

I still need 50+ kudos tokens to unlock all the cars. The only way I can see to do that is to get on Xbox Live. Has anyone unlocked all the cars by playing the single player aspect only?

I really only about getting some of the cars so it's not a big deal.

However, how do you know your Kudos rank if you are not on-line?

Anyway, to my view single player challenges are quite fun but Xbox live is the place to be. Come join us.

Kudos Rank is the in-game number.. you increase rank after getting X kudos. Nothing to do with Live.

This is one addictive game, and I don't really play on Live that much (I think my Live Kudo rank is 2). Currently working my way through the single-player slowly but surely by not moving to the next race until I have a gold in the current race. I enjoyed the original PGR but don't remember it being this fun.

I'm finally finished with the Kudos World Series. I got the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 yesterday. I'm now ready for online play. If anyone wants a good race please add me to your list!

Now I'm going through the Arcade Mode (just got ranked 4th overall in Street Race #5). The fun never ends with this game.

Very impressive! How many kudos do you have when you get all platinums in the kudos world series, not including kudos earned from arcade mode?

I'll have to check later, but even with all the platinums I couldn't afford to purchase all the cars (95/102 I think). I hit level 48, which I believe is around 1.4 million.

When playing online yesterday I heard that many people that have the Speed 12 got it via the Action Replay. That's a damn shame because going through the Kudos World Series really teaches you how to master the game. It's so rewarding.

I play this a lot, but my problem is that I usually race MINI Cooper S, I have over 3000 miles on it
For some reason, I don't really get into driving the faster cars, as I'm really bad with them...I should really give those other cars a try sometime....but for now, it's all about the MINI.

Wow...I finally picked this one up and it's addictively fun. However, I'm also getting really frustrated with some of the challenges. I usually don't have a problem with the bronze level, but anything above that is killing me. The AI gets to be really frustrating: perfect lines, no mistakes, never spins out...ARRRGGHH!

I haven't owned a driving game in a long while, so that may have something to do with it, but still! I'm just going to keep practicing and eventually play some online.

hey sjividen, try to add alittle more aggression to your driving style and see if that doesn't help. At the start of each race, see if you can't beat the fast cars to the front and then hold the lead...

In this game, practice is everything. For the challenges when you do the races against the computer the only way to beat them at the gold/platinum level is to pick the car with the fastest acceleration in the class and nail them on the first turn, like what sambo777 said. Then race defensively the rest of the way, keeping them from passing you by taking the insidemost line on the turns.

The computer is most vulnerable on turns and taking them inside is the only way to pass them. If they're 3 or more seconds ahead of you in the hardest levels, fugghedaboudit.

Whenever you're stuck, always watch how the high scorers do it and watch and learn from them. Unless you don't have XBL.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice.

Practice really is the best way to get better. I'm now getting the silvers fairly easy. It helps that I carried over some tokens and was able to purchase one of the nicer cars, instead of attempting the first challenges with the defaults.

Any hints on how to string up the Kudos? I can do a power slide alright, but how does one go about comboing the whole track, like I've read some people talking about?

Getting a continuous combo throughout the whole track is a thing of beauty, not to mention a requirement for the platinum cone challenges.

Most tracks have the cones separated just far enough that you'd simply need to maintain an optimal speed to get to each set of cones. On turns you can keep the combo going either by hitting a good line bonus or power sliding. Some people power slide by dropping a gear in manual, but since I've never used manual I simply tap my handbrakes to get a good skid. Keep in mind though that the following straightaways usually require a decent speed to keep the combo going, which is when it's usually better to just hit a good line bonus.

When doing a street race, the longer combos are obtained by staying behind the leader and drafting your ass off. The slower cars are real tough to keep a combo going since they're not fast enough to keep a draft.

Again, I suggest downloading the top scorers and see how they do it. If you wanna see me in action I cracked the top ten in the arcade mode/street race/race 5 (Barcelona). My user id is the same as it is here.

Again, thanks rabbit. I'll look you up and make myself feel even worse about my lack of skills <g>.

Seriously, this game is major fun, but a cheap AI in any game just ruins the experience. I hate when I'm running a one-on-one, the CPU and I get to the corner at the same, I execute a great turn (for me)...and the CPU shoots out of it like it was shot from a flippin' cannon. I need to start playing on Live.

PGR 2 newbie rant over now.
