Actually, you guys are right the ad is an earlier date. I saw The Lion King, but upon closer inspection it says available Oct. 7th. I seriously hope that this ad is real. The game business needs a surge for Christmas.

I called up funcoland and they have some in stock, so thats 69.99 used. Which is better though? A new one for 99.99 or used for 69.99?

It would be nice to get something new and top of the line for once, on the other hand I could use the thirty extra and get a wavebird or a game.

Does the new system come with a demo disc? And are there just the indigo, black and platnium colors?

And blockbuster doesnt sell them sealed for 99.99, they're 149.99.

http://www.blockbuster.com/bb/game/m...7560,,00.html?
scroll to the bottom.

The ad, which Im partial to belive is fake, says availbale 10/7, most dvds come out tuesdays and they post the ad two days prior, not weeks prior. So if this price drop occurs its going to be for 10/5 and that means walmart stores wont be getting the ad for one more week.

Actually they do. Trust me, I know. I have purchased several of all varieties. If you do not believe me, you may want to check out the thread at fatwallet as well.

This is great news, espically since I'm planning on buying my girl one for Christmas.

I actually called my local blockbuster and they sell them for 139.99

Are you talking about used gamecubes? Because I asked them about sealed new ones.

Probably just that Blockbuster franchise and corporate stores might have different pricing points.

Saw the ad today at the store where I work. GC WILL BE $99.44!!!!!! Price should be effective the last few days of the month. Our sales at Wal-Mart start at the end of the month so we can capitalize on all the welfare recipients.

Are you serious?!

I take it that they will not include a free game/gameboy player.

Some people at FatWallet said they got the Gamecube w/ the Gameboy Player for 99$ at WalMart.

I went to 4 stores in Lexington KY today and none of them had the Gameboy Player bundled with the Gamecube, and none of them rang up as 99$.

I wish there was a way i could get in on the Cube w/GBP for $99. Hopefully someone will have it like that on Black Friday.

Now do you think seeing the GameCube is going to $99, that MS and Sony will also enact a price cut or does everyone think they will hold the line at $179? I'm thinking they might go to $149 but that's just me.

$149, at most.

You think MS is going to lose any non-PS2 purchase simply without a fight? There are plenty of people yet to buy a console this generation, but obviously they're not early-adopting, rabid videogamers. They'll buy one console and be happy with it.

If MS allows them to pick up a Gamecube instead by being beaten by $80 on price, it'll be another 5 years, at least, before the company gets another crack at them.

Then when MS makes its cut, Sony follows suit, also.

Mr. Snowmizer, your last comment was incorrect. If MS cuts the price, Sony does not always cut the price. PS2 is $200 for the new model (the $179 for the blue box is simply clearing them out). PS2 is $199.99 brand new, Xbox is $179.99.

Don't forget +$100 for the hard drive, and +$20 for a memory card (cause I have my doubts the HD will be compatible with all the older games), and +$30 for a multitap.

Uh, Sony cut the price to $179 and Xbox matched them. The $179 PS2 package is still available, is still being produced, and outsells the online-ready version by at least 4-1.

How does that make my comment incorrect?

If you don't think a Gamecube price drop would result in Xbox and PS2 dropping, just wait a couple of weeks.

Actually, Xbox had planned on the price drop and Sony just beat them to the press with it.

Not true. PS2 is getting rid of old models for $179.99. The standard PS2 is $199.99. The standard Xbox is $179.99 (with two free games).

Uh, the standard Xbox (not including the Walmart bundle which seems to be in limited supply) is 179 without any games. The standard PS2 is 179. The PS2 with network adapter (this also includes the new model) is 199. I'm sure Sony will still sell PS2s without the network adapter, even after the current supply runs out...

Anyway, it's just semantics. I'm looking to get an Xbox... any opinions? Should I wait and get it as is for 149 (maybe), get it now at Walmart with two games for 179, or get that Cosco bundle now with an extra controller, dvd player, and the sega games for 219?
