Man I wish I could get my kit for $24.99. Mine was labled $34.98 and actually rang up at $49.99. It took a manager to intervene before I could even get the price on the box

goLucky, I've got a question for you : Why was your original subscription for 14 months instead of a year? I didn't think Live was even around in Sept of '02. Were you a Beta tester or something? Or were you able to add an extra two months with a code in the NFL Fever game (which I thought wasn't allowed)?

I was a Xbox Live First Wave Beta Tester and all beta testers got the beta period (two months) free. 2 months free + 12 subscription = 14 months.

No go at my closest Target.

They had a live kit that had Tetris worlds and it rang up $49.99

Guess I'll have to check other Targets.

At my Target there were like 6 boxes, all V2.0 One had the clearence sticker for $34.99, the rest didn't. They all rang up $49.99. I have a feeling that this ws probably a goof and they've corrected it. If you haven't picked one up yet, you probably should go searching soon.

Well, the thing to keep in mind is that each Starter kit has an expiration date. example : Version 2 expires in march or may of 2004. So the closer they get to expiring and with version 3 coming out soon they should start clearing them out.

Yes, V1.0 expires on 10/31/03. So that's like 3 1/2 weeks away and when I was at Fry's there were stacks of them, all full-price. I think retailers are going to continue to sell them until their supply is exhausted. I wonder if MS will just extend the offer to avoid dealing with a bunch of ticked-off consumers.

Decker which Target was that? If you can extend your current one, I'd be interested in it.

Off the Decatur Blvd exit from 95. It's right there.

I know they're out of the kits at the Charlestone & Rampart location. Don't know about anywhere else. Like I posted earlier, it's a good deal, especially if you need a second headset; but hardly worth a lot of trouble to save $10 (compared to buying a renewal card at BB.

BTW Deb, go pick up Outlaw V-ball or Midtown Madness (or both if BBV is still doing a buy 2 get one free promotion). I'm no good at Mech Assault.

It doesn't expire in 3 weeks, you just have to activate before that date (on the side of the box). You still get a year of service once you activate it.

I'll try it tomorrow. That's a few exits south of where I am (I am at the 95 Craig exit).

I tried the demo of Outlaw Volleyball and HATED IT with a passion. My dad came in during the movie for it and wanted to know what kind of porn I was watching

Why don't you get Tetris Worlds, it's awesome and it's only $15 after coupon at BBuy

Hmmm. My local Targets only have v1.0 but it did ring up for $24.98. After seeing Decker01's luck with a 2.0 extending his subscription I was ready to go that way, but no 2.0 kits at either Target here. I guess I'll wait to see what the subscription card deal looks like before I decide.

Well, to be fair, I've bought a second kit, but I haven't extended my subscription yet. goLucky did. I was going to wait a little while before trying that. As far as the subscription card deal, it's $49.99 + tax for the card and little bag. You should be able to use a $5 coupon at BB, but that's going to be the best deal you'll likely find.

If you found a v1.0 for $24.99, pick that up right away and be sure to use it beofre the end of the month to extend your subscription. That's by far the best deal.

Edison,
As Decker pretty much said, grab that 1.0 kit and renew w/ it before the end of the month. $24.98 for a year will be your best deal.

I'd look for version 2, because you also get the full version of Tetris World Online for free with it.

That's what I did, it was $35 at my local Target. But apparently it is extremely YMMV, and some 1.0 and 2.0 are still full price at some Targets. So if you find either version for less than $40, it will probably be the best deal you find on a year renenwal, unless you really want that 'free bag'.

I hit 3 Targets yesterday, all had version 1.0, all 49.99. I saw on their screen though when I did the price check if you return it without the reciept, they will give you 24.99 credit.
