Dunno if the game is based on reality or not, but

Driver = 250+
3 Wood = 230
5 Wood = 210

2I = 220
3I = 200
4I = 190
5I = 180
6I = 170
7I = 160
8I = 145
9I = 130
PW = 120
SW = 90
LW = 60

I've played through two tournaments and am loving it. It looks awesome in progressive scan and the controls are tight. There's a lot more advanced controls then just manual too (impact zones, spin). My wife and I played for a while last night, she used auto and stayed on par w/me.
It's real fun multiplayer as well. You can screw with your opponents before they swing if you tap A a bunch (it puts up the Boo's w/messages over their view). Discostu needs to hit the greens before he hits the Mario Golf greens again-trust me.

It's not being 'overblown'. If you have played Hot Shots Golf 3 or even 1 & 2 for that matter then you would understand what Matt925 and I are talking about.

I also agree with SpaceBoy in regards to the Automatic Shot. I think this should have been an option to turn on and off for each golfer and not implemented into the control set-up where it's on for everyone. This makes the game way to easy imo.

I finally had time to play a round and shot -6 my first time out, not too shabby.

I know what you're talking about in general. I owned Tiger Woods 2003 for a few months.

I thought I was EXTREMELY clear in saying what *I* think is bad about it.

just move the C-Stick and the camera moves and tilts everywhere.
That is incorrect.

...I'm still considering taking this back to EB. I'm having fun with it, but as mentioned, it's way too easy. I've played two tournaments and won them both without really trying too hard.

From those of you who have played farther than the first two rounds, does this game get any more challenging?

i beat the first two tournaments very easily. The third one kicked my arse. shot a +16. (mainly because I gave up on one hole).

Yes it does...the first two are easy for anyone with any video game golf experience...give it some time.

I was playing a Character Match last night and performed a really good chip-In to receive an Eagle. The match was with Luigi at Novice level (first one I played). I later went to Highlights to view my achievement and it was not there. There were no highlights listed at all. Anyone know why it didn't show up?

Not only do they get tougher, but they get a lot more creative as well. I'm am up to the 4th, and after the first 3 holes I was like +3 already.

From the main menu go to Options, then Record, then press right to get to Character Matches and see if it's there.

Good to hear. Now I really want to get home and play! Stupid work.

Do any of you use a certain character all the time? So far I've used Bowser and Koopa... I really wish I could use a ShyGuy though. They were always my favorite obstacles in the old Mario games.

Could anyone help me with Course 3 Hole 3? There's a big huge mountain and the pin is on the other side... how do you get above the mountain?

I always use peach in these games(Mario Party, Golf, Tennis, Kart), not sure why. Maybe she is always a middle of the road character. i.e. Mario & Luigi are always the simplistic average characters, followed by Yoshi & Peach, middle, and then Kong, Bowser & Wario, the tougher characters.

Anyway, I couldn't wait. I was bored last night so I went out and bought it. Played a couple of rounds. It took about 10 holes to get the hang of this kind of golf again, since they are no Tiger Woods controls. Over shot the cup a half dozen times. But the computer assistance on the first two courses is absurd. My first round, i was around +5 and the leader was at par, around hole 10. I ended up winning at +3, just because of the last two holes.

Started the Target tournament. It seemed difficult. Almost as if you will need use a couple of the locked characters just to make par.

the coin challenge was pretty fun as well. Overall, I am impressed. Only once or twice in 4 hours did the camera give me any problems. I think it is a minor issue. Either that, or the people complaing should start keeping their ball on the fairway?

Well I figured out that you are supposed to bounce the ball off the mountain... I double bogeyed on that... I had a -1, +1 after that, and I just birdied on hole 7 so I'm at +0.

I use Yoshi because I'm told he's good for beginners. I use automatic shot too

Hole 14 of the Sands Classis is killing me I can't get over the water. I'm at -1 and the next one is at +3. I got +10 last try. Trying again now.

Now even if I get the "Nice Shot" does it get over the water. Any tips for getting over the water?

It gets much harder after the first two courses. Right now I'm stuck on Bowser Championship (the music is AWESOME - as is the course).

I always use Yoshi.

Have you done any of the character challenges yet?

If you beat the character, you can use the "star" version of that character, who will hit the ball much further.

Since I wasn't getting anywhere on that hole, I started doing the character challenges. I beat Koopa, Princess, and Luigi and am doing Diddy now. I want Star Yoshi though

Thanks for the help!

Beating all the shot challenges in the mini-games section unlocks

So is this game basically like the N64 version? Just updated graphics with some new modes, but the same classic stuff and same control scheme?
