I felt the same way but you have to admit it is a great price.

You can (could?) buy it from J&R for $43.83. I don't think there will be too many other sales though. It is hardware after all.

I thought the GB Player was considered an accessory?

Maybe it's a hybrid. For me and a lot of other people it's a replacement for the GBA, so I think of it as hardware.

It's not like there's a lot of sales on accesories either anyway. At best you'll get 10% off (after you buy something you don't want) at BB.

J&R doesn't have it online or I would have bought it already.

They did have it listed under "Game Boy Player" earlier, but they have since pulled it from the site - probably because they had none in stock. (At least it was always listed as "out of stock" every time I checked there for it.)

It has been out of stock since I started checking on the 25th

I'm guessing $45 + tax at BB is about the same.

Thank goodness I pre-ordered mine. Played TLoZ:ALTTP for quite awhile last night... but my screen is a little wider at the top than at the bottom (like I need to fix the Trapezoid setting).

Just got mine from J&R today. They get 5 stars in my book. Great price, fast shipping (2 days), super customer service, and they managed to get some back in stock quickly (something a lot of stores can't seem to do).

Pricematched Best Buy at J&R to get it for 44.99 plus shipping. Going to BB would have been cheaper after tax, but I'm so lazy that I decided I didn't care. I phoned in my order.

This thing is freaking awesome. I'm playing Golden Sun and now I don't ever want to use the GBA again. The sounds, images, it's all awesome. This thing rocks. I can't wait for Advance Wars (loaned my game out so I can't test it tonight).

I agree GatorDeb. I love this thing.

My GBA finally left it's spot on the end table next to the couch where it had set plugged in with the AC adaptor for most of the last two years and got put away.

Two players?

Sorry, I wasn't able to get any info on this from some video game retailers, so...Are you able to play a 2-player game on the GameCube using the player? (i.e. Puzzle Fighter)

Thanks! (Sorry if that sounded like an extremely stupid question...just trying to see if I don't have to purchase another Puzzle Fighter cartridge!)

As I understand it, to play two players you still need a second GBA and a link cable. One player will use the TV screen and GC controller, the other will use their GBA screen and GBA as their controller. You can go up to four players like this.

If you had 4 TV's, and 4 GCs with GBA players I'm sure you could link them all up if you're in to the lan party crap.

As for needing a second cartridge, that varies by game. Some mulitplayer games only require a cartridge in one GBA (though often this only offers a limited number of multiplayer options like everyone only being able to use Yoshi in Mario Kart).

So if you need two carts to link up two GBA's for Super Puzzle Fighter, you'll still need 2 carts with the GB Player.

It simply plays the games, it can't change the way they player or the way they were programmed.

I don't have one of these yet, but did not think this was possible...

I have the import version of Super Puzzle Fighter 2, and I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but a picture in the manual clearly shows 4-player Puzzle Fighter with only 1 cartridge. I would assume the American version would work the same way. So you should be able to play 2 players with only 1 cartridge and the GB Player.

Just got an e-mail that J&R shipped mine yesterday. I ordered it when it was $38.88 with free shipping. Thanks to sonicworld for posting the deal.

Now I just need some games to play on it. I think I'll start with Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
