I have some of those Kay-Bee Toys club cards that are stamped. Will I be able to use one of those to get 25% off of the GB player?

Got mine in themail from EBGames... I sure hope I got my MSN dollars off of it. If not, I'll get one from Costco and then take it back to EBGames.

Its pretty sweet. Makes playing Whacky Stackers a hole lot easier. My little bro is playing Pokemon Sapphire on it right now, and he's enjoying, might get one for him to.

Amazon.com has it listed for $38.88. It's shipped by J&R Music World so you can't apply any promotional discounts. Not a bad price though. Peace.

I just got the headphone adapter for my GBA SP... I'm amazed at how the developers thought to upgrade the sound when using stereo headphones, or playing on the Gameboy Player. Especially since a good number of people will never hear anything but the single speaker each gameboy has. I would think that they would take the cheap route and just output sound to both speakers, but games like Aria of Sorrow and even Pokemon sound much better...

Has anybody seen this item at Costco today (Wednesday 6/25) ?

Edit: Their web site shows it available for $44.99; some apparently thought it might be less (approx. $35) in-store. Looking for confirmation.

Check out Castlevania: Circle of the Moon if you haven't already.

It was the first GBA Castlevania game and the music and sound is excellent. The graphics aren't as good though. For Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow they had to tone down the sound in order to spruce up the graphics.

Forget deals on the Player - I'd be happy if I could just find it AT ALL. Everywhere I go is sold out of them and the ones that aren't say that they are only for pre-orders - that's a hell of a way to run a business:

"oh you'd like a carton of milk? I'm sorry, but we're all sold out. You should have pre-ordered a carton last month."

Programmers have been coding music and SFX for the GB that were never heard without headphones since the original GB; that's probably why it came bundled with them. Many of the GBA games - especially the SNES ports - sound better with headphones. The problem is that the GBA speaker just can't output enough channels.

Yes, I remember even the old GB games had stereo sound through the headphones... I just don't remember it being that different from the single speaker. And since they've stopped packing the headphones, and even stopped including a headphone jack, I figured developers would save some time.

BTW, has Nintendo released a headphone jack for GBA SP yet? I haven't seen one anywhere... had to settle for a third party.

I picked up one at Gamestop this evening. I'm very impressed. Even Aria of Sorrow looks fine to me, and it was mentioned to look bad in the Planet Gamecube passage I quoted above.

I also think the games look fine blown up. Maybe a little more jagged, but it seems to maintain the aspect ratio as there's still a border on the top and bottom.

So far I tried Metroid Fusion, Aria of Sorrow, and Mario Kart (listed in the order of which looked the best to worst). Metroid looked great, Aria looked pretty good, while Mario Kart was a little blocky but still better than looking at the tiny GBA screen.

The games play much better with the GC controller than the GBA IMO as the analog stick is much easier to use than the tiny D-pad and the shoulder buttons are much more comfortable.

Obviously the sound is much better as everyone else has said.

to Nintendo for putting this out.

Only available directly from Nintendos website. 3rd partys are the way to go. acetraders currently has them available on eBay for a very reasonable price. Peace.

Picked one up today. I played Metroid for awhile with the outer space border. Very cool product.

For that price plus shipping, you might as well pick it up at BB with the $5 off coupon.

Got it! Played Wario Ware, and the Cube asked me (I said yes) if I wanted to play in progressive scan mode (on the Panny 53WX42). Cool!

Nope. Cost me $43.83 shipped. Saved about $4 over BB after coupon and tax. Plus...I don't have to go to Best Buy! I like being there but I have to go after work and sit in lots of traffic or waste part of my weekend to go there.

The black GBA border matches my SP. I just wished the player matched my cube.

AND...? Why didn't your pre-order? If its something you wanted to get on the day its released, its only $5 and it will guarantee you a copy of it. Thats fair. If the store is only gonna get 50 of them, and they take 48 pre-orders, guess what? 48 are for the pre-orders, the other 2 are for people who didn't pre-order, like you. If those 2 get sold before you get there, oh well, you didn't put $5 down.

It does seem like these are selling pretty well. I got the last one at the Gamestop I went too. But then again I don't know how many they got in.

I went to Best Buy first to also pick up Mark of Kri for $9.99, but they didn't have them yet. The guy said they'd probably get them in tomorrow.

I got this last night and got a chance to play with it. Works very nicely. I can now safely "retire" my GBA for travel only.

It's a great accessory and it looks like it is selling well as well. Still, no matter how well it does I'm sure somebody will find a way to spin it as the "death of Nintendo."

It is selling well as far as I can tell. I had to travel a bit to find a EB that had one in stock.

I wasn't able to find one in my town either, so I just ordered it from EBGames.com. 49.99 + no tax and free shipping is a pretty good deal, I guess. Not as good as from jandr.com, but I've never heard of them before.

I also ordered the supercool super-nes style controller from play-asia.com last night! I got an email this morning saying it shipped already. I can't wait!
