(and what would it take for me to convince the gamestop guys in my town to give me one early, i already have $44 in credit already paid for zelda there).

Picked up my Zelda 'free disk set' at Funco tonight...

They'll give you these games early if you go in and tell them you're cancelling your pre-order. (They know other stores are breaking the street date too).
YMMV

Well, they guy behind the counter is the one who told me that he could give me the game if I threatened to cancel the pre-order. He said that they got in like 200 copies.
So like I originally said... YMMV.

I work at Gamestop and thats exactly what my manager said. If they threaten to cancel then give it to em, but otherwise not until Sunday. Did you get the free Ocarina of Time guide though? We got a couple boxes of those to hand out with the disks.
No one has threatened to cancel yet when I've been working. I can't see being so stoked to play an N64 game that you would go to the trouble of canceling a pre order and making it somewhere else, or berating an employee over it.

finally got my bonus disc today. apparently walmart was selling them for $10, but didn't have a clue about the preorder thing, so basically what i figured was $10 (bonus disc) + $50 (wind waker) = me going somewhere else. toys r us said not til sunday. on to game crazy (the video game store inside hollywood video), and the manager told me that he had gotten the message from nintendo that they were allowed to release the bonus disc as soon as they got it in. my local game crazy had sold out of preorders and bonus discs, but the manager told me the game crazy in the next city down the street (about 15-20 minutes away) had plenty of preorders and bonus discs available. fortunately, my girlfriend lives less than a mile from the game crazy in the next city, so i had no problem making the trip.

*yawn* Got mine on Tuesday from EB where I pre-ordered Wind Waker a long time ago (even before this was announced). Did not need to threaten cancelling my pre-order (that would be quite stupid to cancel it for this...sheesh, you can wait until Sunday for those stores that don't want to break date).
Only reason the EB by me started giving them out is because Best Buy and Wal-Mart were already giving them away in pre-order deals.

I think I can wait until Sunday.. now if it had been for Wind Waker itself, I'd think about pulling a stunt or two.

I just thought I would throw in that that is a really awful cover. I know it's a promotional disc and all but boy is is gawdy.

I started playing OOT last night. I figured it would be lame to play through Master Quest as I wouldn't be able to tell what the differences were as it's been years since I played OOT.
The thing that blew me away were the graphics. I hadn't seen any screens or movies and was expecting it to look pretty much the same. However they really spiffed it up. Instead of having that "vaseline on the camera lens" blurred antialiased look with somewhat jaggy egdes, everything is sharp and clear and the edges are super smooth.
It almost looks like a dreamcast game, albeit with lame repetitive textures and less polygons in the characters. At any rate I'm impressed they took the time to clean up the graphics this much for a freebie.
As for control, it's spot on. The analog stick is very sensitive, but I want to run all the time anyway so it doesn't bother me. I think someone else mentioned that Z-targeting would be a problem since the Z-button sucks on the GC controller. It's not an issue because you don't use the Z button, you use the L-button and it's now referred to as "L targetting." Remember the L button wasn't used (to my knowledge) in many N64 games because you had to have you hands in the "digital control" position to access it.
The movies are sweet as well, especially Wind Waker and F-zero.

Sweet. My copy will be here today, and I can't wiat to play.
I'll definitely be playing through the original OOT first to spot the differences too.

The last Zelda game I've played was Link on the NES, so this should be fun.
