most fye stores have gotten them and are now giving them out with the $5 preorder. If you only want the game, then preoder and then get your money back later.

This is how it went. After I finished putting my $5 down, the guy behind the counter says to me "yeah that Zelda Bonus disc is awesome."
It caught me by surprise, I didn't think they had it. I then asked "Oh so you guy already have it in, does that mean I can take it with me today?"
He already had a canned response: "We have it but we have to wait until the 16th."
At this point, my inclination was to say "You bastard!" but I kept my cool and said "ok, i'll check back later"'
So looks ilke I have to wait, I'm going to check later when that guy isn't working and get another person to help me out. I actually told him that other stores were already selling it but he explained that they broke the street date blah blah blah. But anyway, it actually works out pretty good because I have a paper and 2 exams at the beginning of this week so I can wait.

Picked it up. The movies were nice, but demos would have been sweet.
Anyway, started the master quest and so far so good. The only real problem is with the control stick. You don't move as well as on the N64 version. Link movement is a little less responsive, but the game looks very good and seems just as fun as the first time I played Ocarina in 1998.

The $15 may be toward the pre-order purchase of Zelda: TWW. When you put down the $15 you get the bonus disk free.

i'm confused because i thought the disc wasn't supposed to be released until the 16th. which means BB (Best Buy) is early in their release. the $15 goes towards the purchase of Zelda:TWW??? cool...in that case, i'm definitely picking it up.

I was playing OoT while I was installing Windows last night during a LAN party. It seems pretty fun, but it was even funnier hearing the sound while everyone else was playing Warcraft 3.

Just got mine in.
A couple of things I noticed:
Like some other people have been saying, the sensitivity of the control stick is up way too high. If you move it half-way, Link's already running. You have to barely touch it to get him to tip-toe.
The graphics look a little nicer than I remember, besides the fact that I'm looking at it in S-video on a 27" screen instead of composite on a 13". The resolution is noticably higher, and the lighting seems a little better also. The only thing bad I noticed: the framerate looked pretty choppy during Navi's flyover at the very beginning.
The sound was better, but I think that's because I was listening to it on my full surround Onkyo setup rather than my old 13" TV's mono speakers.

I went to a mom&pop type video game store yesterday down in fullerton (so.cal) to preorder windwaker and the guy just ended up giving me ocarina on the spot since i prepaid for the game full price.
he said, "i know i'm not supposed to do this, but since you paid for the whole game already, i guess it won't hurt. have fun!"
boy, what a pleasant surprise!
anyways, i went home and threw it in the gc and watched a couple of the trailers for windwaker and fzero and played ocarina for about 10 minutes. i've never played the n64 version, so i don't know if it's improved or not. but judging by the polygons, the game does look very dated. best game of the year in 1998? wasn't diablo and starcraft out those years????

Glad I preordered it a while back.
When I picked it up today the guy at EB said they only got 12 in and I was number 10 on the list. They're expecting more as everyone that preorders will get one, but it would have been a longer wait.
He also said that Best Buy was selling them for $15. Meaning selling the disc for $15 with the money NOT going toward Wind Waker. He's probably full of crap on that one though.

I picked up mine last night at EBX. I went to EB and Gamespot (both within the same mall) but neither had it. Strange that EBX and not EB would have it. The guys at EB didn't even mention that they had it down the hall. Some infighting perhaps?
Anyways the GC Zelda preview on the disc looks amazing. The same goes for the preview booklet. Now please excuse me, I have to beat Metroid Prime and GTA:VC before late March.
