I'm Filipino too, but the only time I've ever had "FPS sickness" was like 9 years ago when I first played Doom over a LAN. I've played tons of FPS games since then and never encountered vertigo again.

I have always gotten sick from FPS games, but the ones that I really like I just hang in there and keep playing. Eventually you get used to it. I noticed in the Metroid Prime booklet it even mentions this as a problem and it says to stop playing if you feel sick, and to not play again until you don't feel sick anymore. I find that if I just keep playing, stopping if I feel too sick, and then playing some more, then after a while I get used to it. The only one that I stopped playing altogether was Unreal Tournament... I almost ralphed on that one.

I'm Asian and I get sick sometimes as well. Unfortuneately it happens suddenly then I have to stop for a bit but can pick it up again. Maybe it is on the same allele as the dreaded Asian Flush.

I've never been motion sick, but I have caught myself slowly leaning towards the TV when moving forward in the game or leaning left or right when I'm going up turning staircases.

I have had this problem in the past with FPS. (non-asian) It hasn't happened so far with Halo, but I haven't really played Halo that much. I don't generally do FPS's at all any more, except for Metroid. Come to think of it, I don't really have that problem with Metroid any more either. I have a much nicer TV than I used to, maybe that has something to do with it. I had a friend who had this problem and said that Dramamine (motion-sickness pills) worked for him, but I have never tried them.

I have a friend who also has this problem - so much that he can't even play some 3rd person games like GTA3. He got these little elastic wristbands that have a plastic knob on the inside of them that is supposed to stimulate a pressure point on your forearm to aid in preventing nauseau. If he wears those bands he can play GTA3 for like 1-1.5 hours with no sickness at all. Might want to check them out.
Also if anyone cares i could even lookup and tell you exactly what chinese acupressure point the knob is working.

I started with Quake 2 on the PC and for me the FPS game did nothing but for the other guys it was not the game they want to try.So now with Halo still I have no problem.I do suggest taking a rest every 1 hour or so,drink just plain water.
But it all depends on you, try the game some other day and take a rest for the week.It might help

Uh, I seriously doubt its an Asian thing, otherwise half of Korea would be puking chunks everyday. All those kids in the PC rooms 24-7 every day?
I can't even stand Halo for 10 minutes without a headache so I think I'm going to get some pills. If those don't work, maybe I'll trade it for Mechassault or something where I can actually see who I'm controlling. Thanks for all the suggestions!

You guys are sitting to close to the TV, I love FPS. I have this problem when I sit about 5 feet away from my 36' 4:3 tv, once I moved back to about 8-10 feet, I had no problem.
Also for me, I have one eye the has to foucs extra fast to keep up with my leader, so I find that wearing my glasses helped too...

I'm also afflicted with this problem.
Halo I got through, the outdoor levels and just having total control made it better. Metroid Prime is another story. I'm only like 10% completed and I'm pawning the game cuz I feel like hell, all dizzy when I play it for more than 10 or 20 minutes. I even have to take a loss on the resale even though I got it for a cheap price cuz I bought it used and they sent me a scuffed up copy.

I can play Halo with no problems, but watching someone else playing it makes me sick.
I know I get motion sick, happens a lot when riding in the back seat of a car with no windows down. And the way I feel when watching a FPS is the same. Haven't tried the dramamine trick yet, I would think it will work though.
