WRT the bodies... it's not just hiding them in the dark, because realistically, they could be discovered if it was in the dark, but somewhere that someone might walk. I've hidden bodies where it's well-lit, but nobody finds them. The game is very logical that way. And just because you're sitting in the dark, doesn't make you invisible. The gauge that slides back and forth doesn't show how dark your surroundings are - the gauge shows how stealthy you are being. If you make noise and you're in the darkness, the bar rises. Shooting out lights and disturbing surroundings might also draw attention to yourself rather than provide you with cover.

It's not just the point of hiding the bodies. I've hidden them in the dark, left them out, dragged them to the alley, etc. The point is, there are no cameras and no people left alive to find the bodies, but magically, they keep being found. This is a problem I encountered in Hitman 2 as well, and it is extremely frustrating.
Anway, I'm just going to stop with trying to back up my statements, since no one can read. My friends were there and saw this. You can read these same problems on the GameFaqs forum. I do not need to sit here anymore presenting problems no one wants to hear or accept. I'm out.

I played the demo again. This time I knocked out every person except the ones in the jail cells. Then I put a bullet or two in each person until they died. I moved each body into the room with the doors that exit to the rendevous point. The bodies kept being discovered even though everyone was dead. So, yes it does happen. Do I care? Not much. Before I moved the bodies into that room none of them were discovered.
I'm still having fun with the demo, and I can't wait for the full game to come out.

This whole bodies thing is weird to me... I've been able to hide them so they aren't discovered. This is just like any game though - "you have to get 5 bananas before you can unlock the monkey hut" "Oh really? Damn - this whole time I've been trying to do it with 4 bananas" - You know what I mean? It's like there's good places to hide bodies and bad places and they are predetermined probably. Maybe it's because the game seems so realistic that some people are just expecting more from it than they would a normal game.
I've been playing Vice City tonight and that game should be called Clip City. I park a car and go to buy a building and this little movie comes up and this car drives past the front of the building right through my car like it's not there. There's hundreds of little glitchy uglies in this game - at first it seemed like a distraction, but I'm able to accept the flaws with that game because it's fun. Splinter Cell is way fun to me as well - and even if I was able to find those little flaws everyone's talking about, I'd still overlook them. For a Tom Clancy game, Splinter Cell is the tightest and most flawless ever. I mean Tom Clancy games are notorious for clipping and weird glitchy problems - nevertheless, people gobble them up cuz they kick ass. Splinter Cell is a million times cooler than any other Tom Clancy game IMO and that's saying alot... whether it means anything to anybody else reading this, I don't much care.

Exactly. Flaws, graphics, etc. tend to take on less importance if the game is fun. I haven't seen Vice City yet but GTA 3 was certainly not a thing of graphic beauty.......The Splinter Cell demo was more than enough to convice me to pick up a copy.....

My Views.
1.)I never saw any of this "clipping" that your friend mentioned. Perhaps specific examples of this for further review would better enlighten it.
2.)Metal Gear Solid has nothing to interact with, either. So what? You're not there to collect items as in a plaform game, you're there to perfom a specific mission.
3.) What if it does look "retarded?" Try doing a wall jump into a wall hang in the first hallway you enter when entering the police station. Sam does a split and holds himself in place in the air. Impressive in my book.
4.) Cameras exist, even in that police station. That is what is causing the alarm to happen. Hide bodies better. I'm still working with that one.
5.) Think about it. Using the fiberscope to gain intel on what is on the other side of that door, should you detect, say, an enemy with his back to you, then stealth opening will gain you silence to sneak up on said enemy.
6.) Thermographic vision can only do so much. I've never seen this happen in the demo, however.
7.) I don't know about that. I do know I've had to fire a few shots to kill before, again, this isn't a first-person shooter, it's stealth espionage action. It's not the object to kill, but to achieve your objective(unless ordered to kill).
8.) Whacking a person in the head with the butt of your pistol is SUPPOSED to make a "soft *bump* sound." Otherwise, everyone's going to hear you. Do you want that when you're trying to HIDE?
9.) One hostage yells. Is it loud enough for the other cop at the terminal to hear? I don't remember. That would explain the issue. Remember, this room is dark. VERY dark. If the other cop can barely hear you whacking his partner, and he can't SEE it, then he's not going to do anything.
10.) AI is never any good. Period.
11.) Why close a door? MGS never allowed you to even manually OPEN them! Have YOU ever lifted a body and tried to open a door? I think not. Holding a gun and opening a door, well, that would be nice, but no game ever has EVERYTHING you want. Gamers are too diverse. Running out of ammo? Why should you ever run out of ammo? The point is NOT to kill everything. Maybe you should play GTA 3 or Vice City instead of Splinter Cell.
12.) I have to agree with the punching or kicking issue, but, then again, it's about stealth.
13.) So what if a phone is ringing and you can't answer it! You're not there to answer it! Jeez!
It seems that this guy is nitpicking over this game. I personally enjoyed it very much.

I Love The DEMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many of you sound like little girls complaining of everything.
If you are looking for a kill everything than buy:
Dead To Rights
Halo
If you are looking for a stealth game than try:
Splinter Cell
Hitman 2
Stop complaining about this game!!! Many of you knew what this game was all about.
Why are you complaining now?

Ok, I read this whole thread and was like oh crap. Then I finally was able to play this demo just earlier.
I have no idea what the problem is. It seems like some people were expecting total perfection. I don't see a problem with the jump, clipping, or pretty much anything. Graphics are great. Gameplay is great. Sound is great.
Controls, well, since I play with inverted controls on mostly everything, I'm still fumbling a bit. But since I have the option to knock everybody out instead of shooting, I was able to make it through the demo.
What's wrong with hiding the bodies? Like Trigger, I don't see the problem. Where are you guys hiding them? First guy you encounter, I knocked him out and dragged him outside underneath the stairs. The guy near the morgue, I pulled him into the guard office and shut off the lights. The one after, I did the same and dragged underneath stairs. The last one, with the guy near the computer, I just left him there. I didn't get caught once.

The 2 computer guys, I just bonked them on the head and they fell to the ground between the table and the chair they were sitting on. It didn't give me an option to pick up the body so I just left them there. Nobody found them. hmm..
Do you really need to kill them though? I didn't shoot anything and nobody got back up.

But that's my MO - I'm a methodical killer and I always plug em 'two in the head' - it's my signature. I suppose I could just knock them out - and then they'd wake up with a headache and not even really know I was there. Perhaps the bodies weren't found because they weren't dead... they weren't really bodies, they were still living people. You know? Oh geez - I can't wait for this game.

Another question -- can you even do anything with the dude tied to the chair? He wouldn't respond to anything I did.

I didn't preorder either. I never do for games.
This week, you should have your hands full with Mech Assault, Ghost Recon, or Unreal Championship. If those don't interest you, I think you should seek some help.

Nevermind. I think the 1.1 million is the number ordered by stores to be put on sale -- "pre-orders" done by stores, not the number of pre-orders taken by stores. Makes a lot more sense.
#93
I never bother preordering. Everyone made a big fuss about how ohhhh you'll never get Vice City without preordering, yet I walked into EB and they literally had around 50 on the top shelf.

Let's have some fun and appoint this thread the review thread since Splinter Cell sucks so much.
