Free Soccer!
You can get the Soccer NES game for free by going to http://www.animal-crossing.com/news.jsp and clicking on the blue square thing that says "Dear Pecan,"

After seeing all these threads over the last few weeks, I picked up Animal Crossing today. I have a few questions though.
I have the next two days off and would like to sit and play it for quite some time. I gather this may not really get me anywhere since the game is in real time. Would it be better to spend the next two days faking an hour here and there over the last two weeks (by changing the date/time every hour or so) or can I really get anything out of just sitting there for 5-6 hours at a time playing?
My fiancee wants to play the game as well. It will be fun to trade stuff back and forth. However, how do we handle the save files? We have plenty of memory cards, and I assume one of us will use the one that came with the game, and the other will be stuck with one of our 59's, but does that person not get that Nintendo game or whatever it is on the card?
I'm going to start playing tomorrow morning, so if anyone can answer these basic questions I'd greatly appreciate it!

Nice catch on Soccer.
Looks like the fish have changed slightly. I caught ten of those coelacanths yesterday (worth 15,000 bell each) and today I caught a bass, dace, and goldfish for the first time. If you throw the goldfish down in your house its in a cool little goldfish bowl.

1. Two seperate towns (two memory cards required). The advantage here is that each town will have it's own items and characters, so you'll see a lot of variety and have an easier time getting exotic fruit. Weird side effect: if one of you plays a lot less than the other you'll want to be careful about visiting their town or you'll end up having the animals from the more active town moving to the less active town.
2. Live in the same town (one memory card required). This is what my wife and I did. The advantage here is that two people can maintain a town much easier than just one, and trading and so-forth is a lot easier because we don't take the train. It's harder to get exotic items, but it's still possible (especially considering internet trades). I haven't tried option 1, but this option has worked out great for us.

Option two definitely sounds like more fun! I won't screw arond with the clock either. I didn't really want to do that since it is sorta cheating and sounds like a pain anyway. Thanks Groucho!
(And thank you to Aghama for the valuable relationship advice- I could handle her stealing my... money tree, but I definitely won't go near her stuff. She freaked out every time I picked up some gold in Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance that was near her... and I won't even go into the disaster that was Baldur's Gate PC (hint: you can attack and damage your own party members)).

So, on the 15th-25th, it's Mushrooming time. Anyone have a clue what that'll be like? They say you need to get up early go get the 'shrooms before the other villagers. Does that mean 12:01am or does that mean 5:00am? I guess since we have 10 days, it doesn't really matter that much - they seem to be just for making money...
Halloween should be fun too!
Hide 'n Seek w/the Mayor sorta.

Yeah, I got home the other day and my wife was all excited. "I found MONEY growing on a TREE! How did that happen?"
1.) money bags worth 100 bells
2.) a piece of furniture
3.) a bee hive.
#'s 2 and 3 are only available in one tree per village per day (i think?)
the money bags are in several trees.
catch the side note: catch the bees with your net and i think they're worth 8,000 bells (?) i don't have a net yet, so i can't tell ya exactly. otherwise, you end up with a sting on your face that goes away and doesn't harm gameplay
oh yeah - if you have the shovel, you can dig up a money bag with 1,000 bells. once you have it, you can plant it back into the same spot to grow a money tree? i jsut did this for the first time yesterday, but there is something regarding this
sorry i couldn't be of more help.

I've been stung 3 times in about 1 hours time and found up to 12 bags of Bells by shaking trees. I think it's correct that only 1 "item" can be shaken loose. Someone claimed that they found a NES game by shaking the trees too.
There is that special rock also that once a night is assigned. if you hit it with your shovel, it will turn red and give you Bells. Keep hitting the rock until it fades back into it's original color. Made 3,300 Bells last night.

When I was talking "Money Tree" I was talking about a tree I planted in order to grow money (like a fruit tree), not just the normal shake. Tip: the amount you bury determines the amount that grows. 30,000 bells buried today is a solid investment...you'll have 90,000 back by the end of the week!

MY money trees have never blossomed, but then I also don't have any yellow furniture so that might be part of it. And yup, one of my friends is playing as well and has 16 animals, none of them are ones I have in my village. Pretty amazing how diverse people's towns can be. I really want his robot frog and his duck with the "safety" helmet on.

I need help. Redd and Katrina were coming to town today. Neither one showed up.
I've also never seen the turnip or carpet person either.
KK Slider is the only character thats ever shown up.
My clock is correct. Is my game screwed up? I'm getting really pissed that these people never show up to town even though I get letters that they are coming.
