Ok, I'll make my review short

This game does not work on any video card that does not have either a 8500 or a NVIDIA with a year 2000 or more slapped on it.

From what I read, it does not work on any Voodoo card, any Matrox card (maybe the new ones, I don't know), any Kyro card or any Nvidia TNT card...

It works on GeForce and Radeon cards... that's it.

They say that this is because of the new engine that they used when Epic said Unreal Tournament 2003 will run on a Voodoo chipset and other lower end cards.

Pisses me off really, I paid good money for this card and can't afford to buy a good card, only a mediocre one.

It will run on my TNT2 card, but its so choppy that it is unplayable. Too difficult to line up the targets with the choppy graphics. Since I'm not willing to upgrade my card I will have to wait for a Xbox or PS2 version. Seems like a neat game.

I have a Ge4 and this is the first game Ive played where I can see where my $$$ went. Big, big, thumbs up so far. Ive been playing Day Of Defeat for my PC FPS fix and this make it look and feel like an SNES cart.

Anybody who has the hardware needs to DL this NOW.

I dont think they expected this kind of response. The servers are hammered. Even the forum is unbearably slow. ( http://americasarmy.com/forum/index.php ) I gotta agree with Aghama, 3 severs is wasting this game. I can deal with one map for a demo but give us somewhere to go.

Folks, there is an easy way around Mout if you can't get into one of the servers. First complete your offline training.

2nd: Edit your save file. Go into the America's Army directory and find the system directory. Then go into the save directory. Then double click your "name" file.

The code should look similar to this:

3,15,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,

The first 2 numbers may be different from mine, but that doesn't matter. What matters is the 3rd number. Change the 0 to a 1 and you will be able to access the other maps. It should look like:

3,15,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,

Like magic you can connect to the other servers.


Also, the programmers of America's Army issued a press release about the server situation. They will be releasing a patch this week to create a in-game server list. That will solve the Gamespy problem.

AA actually has 55 servers for the game, but Gamespy only shows 10 at a time.

Upgrade to the Catalyst drivers. I'm using them. It's makes a big difference in the latest games.
The upgrade fixed the display problem.

What other games look better with the new drivers? The most recent game I've played on my PC is Duke Nukem's newest game.

Nice. Worked for me.

That unlocks them all? I can get on the Insurgent Camp map but none of the others. Probally craptastic gamespy. Insurgent isnt getting hit nearly as hard as MOUT though. So works for me.

This is just ridiculous. If these are the people in charge Im afraid for my country. Has anybody been able to actually finish a game?

Don't worry, the people designing this video game probably aren't the ones on the frontlines. And it's the Army's first attempt at a video game ever, and a pretty damn ambitious one at that... I cut them a little slack for that reason.

This game isn't a recruitment tool - it's a brainwashing program. You play it and subliminal messages get plugged into your brain which tell you either to join the army, get a vasectomy, or commit suicide... it depends on your video card along with other files resident in your computer. Also - installing it allows the government to gain full access to all your porn and mp3s.

I'm downloading it right now...

Actually - I saw a bunch of hubub about it at E3 and never went to check it out thinking it would look like Redneck Rampage graphics. I later wanted to kinda kick myself because of the screenshots and press I saw on it later. That's cool that it's free. Anyone gonna get it on CD?

I still don't get why people are whining whining whining when it's something they got for free. The Recon forum is even worst with about 95% of the threads being flaming and whining.

It doesn't work here, I'm not happy, but one day, I'm sure I'll be able to move on (note the sarcasm).

The game is more popular than in their wildest dreams, I'm sure they weren't expecting a few hundred thousand downloads in the first week... over 129000 just on fileplanet.

I mean it's going to be one of the best shooters out there for a long time, the HomeLAN servers will be moderated 24/7 so there won't be any cheating and idiots and best of all, it's totally free, yet all people do is whine and whine some more.

No offense, but the ones who whine on this are all bloody hypocrites.

Yeah no kidding... it's a free game and it's pretty damn good so far. I read that they need to bring in something like 300-400 recruits per year to break even on the cost of this.

I think people are upset that it doesn't work on certain popular, yet older, video cards. I'm a little upset that I can't play it on my TNT2 card, although I can play other games like Ghost Recon and MOH:AA on it... I totally understand, but I'm still bummed. Maybe I'll splurge and drop some money on a GeForce 3 or 4 when the next Best Buy Preferred Customer Weekend rolls around.

Im not whining, just somewhat frustrated and venting.

I agree this is gonna be one of THE shooters for a good while. I dont know about the Mods weeding out the idiots though, I have already had some spazzs in some of my squads killing friendlies.

We need a DVDTalk clan. Flay are you Fla? I keep seeing that username and I was wondering if its you.

Still borked. And when I do get on somebody from my side invariably shoots me. It just happened on the Bridge Map. JACKASS if its coming from our side of the bridge its one of ours or the game is already over. GET IT?

Then the kids says "Well change your gun". I had the M60. I guess if it doesnt have an m16 its enemy.

100% better. I wish there were a little more variety in the choices (looks like most are running MOUT) but you can get on and play with no problems.

So what, has everybody here already lost interest?

I'd play it if I could... I'm looking into getting a GeForce3-level card soon, though, so that will hopefully do the trick.

Is there any way to play online without installing Gamespy? Because Gamespy is the biggest steaming load of sh\t that ever dropped out of a horses ass and I refuse to install it ever.
