The remaster is out! $39.99

I’m curious about how it controls.

With four different control schemes, hopefully one will be a good fit!

I mean dual stick controls alone are going to make the controls a ton better.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Honestly, I loved the Wii controls. It actually felt pretty natural to me. Of course, I also loved the Wavebird, but I dunno, Prime was one of the rare motion games that worked for me.

Not sure I need to play it a third time, but maybe...

I kind of want to play this, but I don't see myself paying $40 for it.

40 bucks is a lot for a remake especially since we were all expecting a collection, but this does look to be remade from the ground up so make sure you at least take a look before dismissing it outright (if you're interested).

Not a remake and not remade from the ground up. It's just a remaster. Nothing in that video looked much different from how it looks and runs on a Wii U. I'll still be buying it but it's not a from the ground up remake like Dead Space was and Nintendo isn't claiming it to be. That's why it's called Metroid Prime Remastered.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Yeah, The Switch (a six year old system that's roughly as powerful as its decade old predecessor) wouldn't be the platform for a full remake, maybe next generation.

Ah, gotcha, remade from the ground up is the wrong terminology to use. What I'm saying is that this isn't just a re-release with minimal effort. I was actually surprised how good it looked, though maybe I have to go back and look at some side to side comparisons.

Apparently they made the doors look way worse for some reason.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Judging by this video it looks like there are a lot of new assets in the game. The Parasite queen has new texture, the background in space etc. But there does seem to be some effects missing too. Like passing through fog I don't see the condensation on her visor like the original game.

Either way I think it's absolutely epic how advanced the graphics were in the original release. It's amazing they still hold up to a large degree. Metroid Prime was an absolute beast of a game when it was released.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Anyone pre-order the physical release? I got in at Amazon where it said 2/13 release but it only has on my order 'We will notify you when we have a date'. I know a few places said 2/13, but it is looking like the original Nintendo announced date of 2/22.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

It comes out on 2/22 physically. A few places put the date incorrectly like GameStop but it's not until the 22nd.

I’ll just replay original on Gamecube. No way I’m getting another console. Hopefully in my lifetime.

Amazon emailed me saying physical remastered won't arrive until March 27th

I'll have to find it somewhere else.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Pre-orders keep popping in and out at BB and Target if you'd like it sooner than Amazon is shipping. Got mine through Best Buy, took a bit though.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

Would be cool if Prime 2&3 remasters were just around the corner - even better if the trilogy was sold together as one package like they did for the Wii.

Re: Let's Talk about Metroid Prime

I’m playing this on GameCube and I forgot it was compatible or did something when hooked to game boy extension and play Metroid: Fusion. I did it back in the day but for the life of me I can’t remember what the connection was exactly.
