Number of XBox launch titles triples the GameCube launch.
Before any Gamecube fan tries to dispute this, I got these numbers at PlanetGamecube.com, a popular Gamecube fansite. The info was then verified at EBgames and then Gamestop.
Anyway the current total number of Gamecube launch games is 8.
All Star Baseball 2002
Luigi's Mansion
Madden 2002
NHL Hitz 2002
Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II
Super Monkey Ball
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
Wave Race
(Actually PlanetGamecube listed All Star Baseball as a generic November release, but I am pretty sure it is a launch game.)
The number of XBox launch games is 24, (not counting the possible inclusion of Max Payne and Transworld Surf.) This info was complied at EBgames and verified at Gamestop.
4x4 Evolution 2
Airforce Delta Storm
Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding
Arctic Thunder
Cel Damage
Dark Summit
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
Dead Or Alive 3
Fusion Frenzy
Halo
Kabuki Warriors
Mad Dash Racing
Madden 2002
Nascar Heat 2002
Nascar Thunder 2002
NFL Fever 2002
NHL Hitz 2002
Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysey
Project Gotham Racing
Shrek
Simpson’s Road Rage
Star Wars: Starfighter SE
Test Drive Offroad: Wide Open
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2X
Well, there it is. 8 x 3 is 24. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
And if anyone wants to bring up IGN's Gamecube release list, don't bother. It rarely gets updated.
All of the lists are pushing Dave Mirra and Batman Vengence to the 27th. Universal Studios Tour to the Dec 1st and Crazy Taxi to the 2nd. Simpsons Road Rage on Dec. 4th and Extreme G on Dec. 11th.
IGN lists 4 of those I just mentioned as launch games.

What a shame you had to waste so much time compiling that list....
We are all WELL aware of what games are coming out when. Here is what I am aware of
X-Box does have more launch games lined up then GameCube.
Congrats!!!
Does that make X-Box a better system?
Not in a million years....
and with a price tag of $300 and something that is bigger then my VCR, is it more appealing?
(see previous answer above)
Every system will have their pros and cons and all will have their own unique great games, aside from the ones that will be avilable on EVERY system...
there will be a "perfect" system for each person ...but there is no one perfect system for everyone
I have a dvd player, a cd player and a computer. Why would I pay extra money to buy something that has all of them included in one VERY big box?
And THEN have to pay extra for a remote, and quality video cables. (believe it or not, my dvd player actually came with a remote)
and in closing.. (i have no idea myself, but..) how many of those games are going to be exclusive to X-Box now and forever?
Much like Sega learned.. getting games and hardware out as fast as one can doesn't make them great, it makes them crap.
cheers!

I just posted the facts in my original post, that's all. I really don't see why you are getting so defensive. You should really chill out.
Oh and I just read that Max Payne for the XBox has already shipped to stores, so the total number of XBox games at launch is now 25.

I have a feeling those 8 Gamecube titles will outsell those 24 Xbox ones. However, Halo and DOA3 may surprise me.
Tony Hawk 3, Rouge Squadron II, Wave Race, and Luigi's Mansion have million seller written all over them though. This is actually a pretty strong launch for a Nintendo system.
I want to play Halo though. I'm not a big FPS guy, but that games looks very cool. It should be the game most Xbox buyers go home with on the launch day.

I agree with you Darkside on Rogue Squadron. That is the system seller for the Gamecube. Tony Hawk 3 will have some fans of the PS2, thus divided, so it may not hit a million but it should come close. I see Super Monkey Ball hitting a million before Luigi's Mansion or Wave Race based on the reviews in the gaming mags. I also think Pikmin may come close to a million even though it is a little too short. Super Smash Brothers will also hit a million before Luigi and WaveRace.
Halo is the main reason I am buying an XBox. Microsoft is predicting Halo will go with 70% of the consoles sold this year. I can see it hitting a million very soon. DOA3 will also hit a million. I also bet NFL Fever will suprise a lot of people. Other games, like PGR, Amped, and Oddworld will also do very well and could reach the million mark after a while.

It is obvious that you don't work in the gaming industry, because otherwise you'd know how few the titles that hit a million are. It took a majorly-known title like Gran Turismo 3 to hit a million. None of the titles you mentioned, *including* Halo, will reach a million. Like I said, apart from the harcore gamers, no one even knows what Halo is. And ads won't help much either. Heck, if Madden 2001 on the PS2 didn't sell a million, neither will Halo.

Maybe I better call up Bill Gates and tell him Halo won't sell a million because Grimfarrow said so. He might just cancel the XBox altogether based on your expertise.
As for the rest of the games, most of the preordered XBox's have been bundled. People that get Halo will get a couple other games at launch anyway. We will see what happens.

The only X-Box title of interest to me is Megami Tensei Online. But I'm not about to buy a machinejust for one game.

Do me a favor and go to your local Babbage's or EB and play a little of Halo. Then come back and tell me you don't think Halo will sell a million.
And the PC version of Halo is still planned, but may get canned by Bungie at Microsoft's request. We will see what happens.

Xbox is only shipping out 600,000 units at most for starters and Gamecube is only shipping 700,000 units at launch... so unless some people snap up 2 or 3 copies of a game, I don't see any game selling a million copies for either system unless you're talking about over time. Who's to say anyway if any game would sell a million copies on a system that hasn't even launched yet? We don't even know if either system will sell out of their initial shipments. Not that it matters which one sells more anyway because the sega genesis was a superior system to the original nintendo system and nintendo sold heaps more systems... it's all about sheep and marketing and advertising. It ends up having not as much to do with quality... because looking at the stats - the Xbox is clearly superior in technology and performance and they also have more games (not saying they are better or worse games because that's all subjective information) which at least gives the buyer more choices if nothing else. I imagine this debate over which system is better will continue long after the systems are released. It doesn't really matter in the end because it's just video games. Like I've said before, the first and last console system I had was the Atari 2600 and nothing has made me want to get one until the Dreamcast price drop and the Xbox came around. The Xbox has at least 4 or 5 must have titles for me. I've even toyed with the idea of also getting a Gamecube because there's one or two titles that I'd really like to play - but it would probably be cheaper for me to rent the system for a couple of nights and play the games all the way through and be done with it. Wait and see is what I'm gonna end up doing though...

I also want to add that since the Sept 11th thing, people have been acting strangely... it's a very unpredictable time. We need people to open their wallets this holiday season to bring the economy back. One of two things is going to happen - either people will decide to go on a spending frenzy this holiday season and stimulate the economy and both systems will sell out of their initial shipment etc... or people will have a small and simple family oriented holiday and neither system will meet expectations. It's all up in the air right now - I'm sure some economics theorists have their predictions on what will happen.

Flextronics begs to differ in the Wired Article about the XBox. They are predicting 700 to 800 thousand at launch with 1 to 1.5 million by the end of the year. They can ship out 100,000 a week at their plants in Hungary and Mexico. Even if they only launched with 400,000 they would hit a million by the end of the year.

Comparing the specs of my PC to that of the XBOX, there's no question I'll be getting any polygon-pushing and graphically intensive game on the XBOX if the game were made available for both platforms (I have to like the game, of course
).
So, people have different reasons for purchasing different systems. I won't be getting a Gamecube until some of my favorites like Metroid, Donkey Kong, and the next big Mario game are released (all first party games). I was eagerly looking forward to Zelda until Nintendo changed it to "Cel-da".

As for the PC version of Halo, it's still very much on track. I sincerely doubt they'll cancel it now, after Microsoft has assured that the PC version is definitely coming out. It'll really piss people off if Microsoft reneged on its promise to deliver PC and Mac Halo when it's so close to completion.
