Awful news.

61 is too young.

the man had screen presence, and was fantastic in everything.

Very sad to hear. He did such a tremendous job with the Det. Pembleton character.

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

Braugher was filming a show for Netflix before the strikes happened. They were going to resume filming in January. 4 episodes of 8 were filmed.

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

The show is long forgotten and I'm sure some of you never heard of it, but Braugher did a 1-season limited series for FX called "Thief" It was pretty good from what I recall. Unfortunately it's not available to watch anymore on any platform.

The only show of his I ever watched was Homicide and I only watched it once as a kid. His performance has kept with me since then. Amazing actor taken way too soon. RIP

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

Yeah, that's a bummer. Loved him in Homicide, and have been considering rewatching the entire series sometime soon. Can't believe he was only 61...For whatever reason, I thought he was older than that. I guess he was actually pretty young, all things considered, when he did Homicide. He always gave pretty insightful interviews. RIP.

Shocking news. I really liked him in B99 and Frequency.

I remember there was a small but devoted following here of Men of a Certain Age. It was a great little show. Braugher just delivered in everything he was in.

The only thing?

He had a ton of TV and movie credits.

RIP

He seemed like a nice and classy guy and graduated from Stanford which is not that far from here.

I think the last thing I saw him was in She Said

Oh, I remember watching that. I was always kind of curious why there wasn't a follow up season.

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

Andre Braugher was a wonderful actor. I him knew before I watched Thief, but more from his movie parts. He made such an impression on me with Thief, that I started to watch Homicide. He was even better in it. Later I watched him in Men of a Certain Age, which was less intense, but also well acted. Last Resort wasn't that good, but he was good in it. I liked him so much as an actor I've watched him in almost everything he was in. Kojak tv movies, b-movies like A Better Way to Die or Thick as Thieves. Sadly I never got the chance to watch his show Gideon's Crossing and I didn't watch all episodes of Hack.

Well there are a few things he was in that I have seen (FF:ROTSS, Salt, Poseidon) but nothing that really stuck out to me. Whereas I just so happened to be working my way through B99 right now and he is just so fucking great in it, easily the best character on that show IMO.
But to your point, yeah, I just have never seen any of his other main work.

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

I wasn't really into TV in the 90s, but now I wish I would have gotten to see Homicide Life on the Street just to see Braugher's work.

I know some in this forum, loathe cop dramas/procedurals, but I've only heard good things about it.

Sadly it's not available to watch on any VOD platform.

Died from lung cancer . He was diagnosed a few months ago according to his publicist. A 2014 profile reported he'd stopped drinking alcohol and smoking years ago.

Pembleton was such a great character, ridiculous that isn't available anywhere to stream. No a fan of B99 but watched it just to see him.

That really sucks that it isn't available to stream anywhere. Homicide was the best Baltimore set cop show, hands down.

Re: Andre Braugher dead at 61

And the DVDs have been long out of print. I just wasn’t really interested in TV during that time period, so it was never on my radar. Not until I got older that I heard what a truly great crime drama it was. And it’s a network TV crime drama.

Luckily I got them when they came out. Only thing I'm missing is the movie. It's been a while since I rewatched the series though. I should break out season 1.

Homicide is not OOP. Shout sells the set now. It's been out for 6 years. https://shoutfactory.com/products/ho...omplete-series

It's available on Amazon too. Out of stock currently at most places because a lot of people have been buying it due to his death.
