I think the Weird Al, Drew Carey and Thomas Lenon episode remains a high point.

It was a cost cutting move by the network.

Perhaps. I certainly agree that it could have done better as a 30-minute show. I have Tomlinson tickets for her new tour and would much prefer to see her that way.

Colbert addressed the cancellation on the air last night. As he tells it, CBS did sign on for a third season and it was Tomlinson's decision not to come back. My guess is that the ratings were just OK and they didn't want to risk continuing with another host. I think that was probably the wise call.

The show is great in like clips,or as a half an hour show. But it kinda is hit or miss if you are trying to do this show in a 1 hour format. Definitely feels though just the 1st domino to fall in late night over the next few years,as they already have been trimming the budgets to the other late night shows by dumping band members or cutting off friday episodes.

Corden got great guests in that time slot and his show was more popular than After Midnight and maybe they could go back to something similar with a new host and ditch the game show at 12:30am or later.

and in its place....the return of Comics Unleashed!

Byron Allen’s ‘Comics Unleashed’ Gets Post-Colbert Time Slot — Again

CBS truly has given up. I guess they ruled out a return of the CBS Late Movie or reruns of Silk Stalkings and Magnum P.I. (original).

I like Byron Allen and I think he's built an amazing entertainment empire and more power to him. But Comics Unleashed is the most ironically named comedy show that I can think of, just so basic, phony, and contrived. Even when comedians I really like are in an episode, it's not an easy watch.
