Re: Northern Exposure Appreciation Thread
The Blu-ray set comes out on Tuesday and it's not cheap 89.99 currently. https://www.amazon.com/Northern-Expo...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I'm sure it'll drop more.

Re: Northern Exposure Appreciation Thread
The Blu-rays are out today. They're supposedly MOD (manufactured on demand) so it might take them awhile to ship. Love Actually 4k was MOD and is hard to find. I just hope this set is better quality than Love Actually 4k. The 4k transfer for Love Actually is really bad.

Has anyone had their Movies Unlimited order ship? I did a guest checkout and I can't find my order on their website. They've charged my card already.

I called them and was told that Northern Exposure was on backorder. Amazon now has it in stock. I'll ask for a refund soon if it doesn't ship and just pony up the different for a copy from Amazon.

I emailed them and they responded pretty quickly that it was on backorder. I'm pretty sure it's MOD (Manufactured on Demand) like Love Actually 4k was and that's the cause of the delay.

What is the usual waiting time for these MOD to be ready to ship? To be honest, I ponied up the higher price with Amazon since they have it in stock and I would like to watch Northern Exposure over Christmas break. Not knowing if Movies Unlimited will ship it out soon had me go ahead and order a copy from Amazon.

I received this set today from Amazon and I'm pleased so far. Each season is in their own multi-disc case and none of them had a loose disc. There are subtitles and deleted scenes for many of the episodes. The video and sound quality is probably the best we will ever get and I'm happy with what I'm seeing in the pilot episode. This is such a quirky show but I enjoy it and will enjoy revisiting the entirety of this show over the next few weeks.

Sorry to have potentially led you astray to order from them. I'm still hoping they ship mine out, as they've accepted my payment as well. They could at least give us a heads up as to when they might be shipping them out. That is if we are not two of a thousand that pre-ordered this from them.

I have fond memories when it first went into reruns airing on WPIX 11 in the 90's, watching it late at night while having hot chocolate and cookies in winter. The show was still on the air and this was around the time Rob Morrow was on the way out. I wasn't crazy about the early seasons of the show but it really found its own identity and it became a favorite. I especially liked the use of music and work from Anthony Edwards and Adam Arkin. Janine Turner lit up the screen like a young Audrey Hepburn. I thought she'd go on to bigger things but Cliffhanger seemed to be the pinnacle. After Morrow left and they brought in the new couple it just never clicked in the same way. Cool thing is last year I had a moose stroll through my yard, first time I've ever seen one in person. I immediately thought of the opening to Northern Exposure.

At what point does Northern Exposure get good? I used to watch it in reruns, and it was a hilarious program about weird people.
But when I rented the first disk from Netflix, it was like watching Gilligan's Island. The only plot the first episodes had was that the doctor tries to escape every time, and he gets foiled again. I couldn't convince Mrs Danger to try another disk.
