I didn't realize there's a Canadian version? I haven't seen it listed on Peacock..

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

There's also one from New Zealand. I hope Peacock can get that one and the Canadian one, but they probably would have had them by now if they were going to get them. I hope they get the second seasons of the UK and Australia versions also, since I've now watched all Traitors content on Peacock. I don't really want to have to look into other means of getting them.

Amazing that Trishelle is the one to figure it all.

The UK and Australian ones are fantastic. Absolutely no need for "celebrities" in the US one. I'm over pushing reality "stars" into every other show.

Too bad she's off to burn that notebook.

I liked having Parvati on the show, but her lasting 8 episodes is more than I thought. Kate takes the offer for sure ... and hopefully Peter gets voted out next. The players have to still be thinking about the morning where no one was killed. Peter changing targets from Parvati to Phaedra after that has to look like exactly the sort of thing a newly recruited traitor would do (especially since Parvati's been confirmed as a traitor).

I'm still working my way through UK season 1. The tone feels very different ... much more serious and melodramatic. Having "real" people as players is a big factor. And as much as I enjoy Alan Cumming, he does camp it up a great deal (while Claudia Winkleman plays it pretty straight). The first banishment was so stupid:
Spoiler:
Someone is voted out for not immediately raising their glass for a toast to the Faithful on the first night. Her excuse (which wasn't good enough for the other players) ... she lost the hand closest to the glass in an accident years ago.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

I started the US version and am enjoying it. I don't watch reality shows so I'm not familiar with any of these people outside of Ryan (I swam against him as a kid) who is more or less a non-entity on the show.

I like how cut throat it gets, but agree the theatrics are corny. Kate's from home hometown and just fucking sucks.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

Iím now caught up on season two. I thought season one was great with half reality and half real people. The end was telegraphed except for the self-removal at the end.

Love this concept.

Season two is being played a little smarter, but I wish there were a few more real people.

Alan is a hoot.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

Just discovered this show and binged Season 1 in a few days and caught up on Season 2. Plays really well as a binge, hopefully the week to week doesn't kill the appeal.

So it's basically a variation of the party game Werewolf. I think Mafia is similar. I prefer the reality stars, since I'm familiar with most and their personalities are established i.e. no boring randos. Probably too many Housewives this season but otherwise a nice mix. So many shows to draw from.

Anyway, fun show. Peter and Trishelle are killing it but you kinda want to identify and befriend and leave in an obvious traitor to get around the recruitment wrinkle.

Started watching the UK series... and I like the thought of 22 random people... and that first twist was brutal.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

The UK series makes it clear that no one stays overnight at the castle ... instead they're carpooled in from a hotel. The US show pretends like they're staying at the castle, but now it's clear they're doing the same thing. I feel a bit like I found out Santa Claus isn't real I loved the idea that they were really stranded in this middle-of-nowhere creepy castle, playing out something out of an Agatha Christie novel.

The UK players get so emotional when there's a murder. They do know they aren't really dead, and they can see them again in a few days, right?

Just got done with Season 1 of Australia. Marielle. This season was pretty twisty. They had some really good daily missions too.
There is one player who basically got edited out of the whole season. It was weird.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

Iím almost done with The Traitors UK Series 1, and have a major gripe:

Are you willing to murder your fellow players every single night? And, do you vow to keep your identity and the identity of your fellow players a secret?

Itís that second line that bugs me.

If youíve watched any of the seasons, youíve seen a traitor bring attention to a fellow traitor when the heat is on themÖ and itís resulted in the fellow traitorís banishment.

Thatís not right.

If someone else calls them out you can agree and help with the removal by your vote. I think thatís okay.

According to a producer, ďAs a Traitor, you are absolutely allowed to call out another Traitor as long as you are under the guise of being a Faithful.Ē

I donít agree.

While it seems like a reasonable stance by the producers, when you have two people going at it and one is voted out as a Traitor ... it makes the surviving player awfully suspicious as another Traitor.

I just finished up UK Traitors season 1. When you finish I'm curious to hear what you thought:
Spoiler:
How did what Kieran do not break the rules of the game? It would be one thing if he just made an argument against Wilf (posing as a Faithful) and voted for him. But that "parting gift" comment and the attitude on the way out clearly outed Wilf as a Traitor. Props to Wilf for taking it as well as he did, because he had everything reason to be royally pissed at Kieran.

The UK show doesn't do reunion episodes, do they?

I would agree with that thinking.

Oh... that was sooooo juicy...
Spoiler:
When Kieran figured that Wilfred was going to take him out like he did Alyssa and Amanda, I was wondering what he was going to do to either get out of it, or tip them off.

If we go by the rule of "being under the guise of a 'faithful'" then what Kieran did in voting for Wilf was acceptable (by their rules), but I would call it a flagrant foul on his "parting gift" comment. That is what he did wrong.

If you have seen the end of Season One of the US version:
Spoiler:
Arie could have shifted the focus to Cirie, but he didn't. He graciously backed out and removed himself from the game knowing that she would take it all from Andie and Quentin.

I don't think they did. If they did, there is no mention of it.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

This episode pretty much went how I thought it would. People may still not have gotten to it so I'll spoiler hide:
Spoiler:
Cliffhanger resolved with Peter voted out. And despite the producers' attempts to make it seem like Sandra could be at risk in the pre-round table scenes, it was unanimous for Phaedra.

Just one more ep left, and despite coming on board to the Traitor side so late I think they'll catch on to Kate eventually. They know there's one Traitor left, and even if they guess wrong at first they'll immediately find out they were wrong.

It's gotta be too late to add another Traitor, right? It would just seem unfair to let someone finish as a Traitor and win the money without having to do any Traitor actions.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

I just finished Season 1 of the The Traitors Australia... and I quite liked the poshness of the hotel setting and Roger Corser was a great host.

The end was telegraphed for me after the third traitor was banished and was not surprised at the way it resolved.

Having 24 contestants was weird, but that meant there were 4 traitors, which made it interesting.

Funny how they all but cut Paul out of all of the edits. Come to find out that he was edited out because his footage as useless. He would always mention the cameras and the production and they said he brought props to banishment and made people swear on all sorts of things.

Agreed, I think he's a great host. I actually like him better than Alan Cumming. It's too bad the show didn't get renewed for a third season.

Spoiler:
Where Phaedra went wrong is she should have murdered MJ rather than Jon. You're trying to get the target off your back and killing Jon just makes your allies even more suspicious.

No traitor is going to be added at this point with 1 episode left. They either banish Kate or she wins. Kinda stupid tho considering she joined the show late and wasn't there from the beginning.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

Season 2 is wrappedÖ and wowÖ
Spoiler:
I saw it heading towards a Traitors UK Season One endingÖ but after banishing Kate at the fire pit, I thought it would be a three way split.

But when two pouches flamed red, I figured CT and Trishelle were gonna dump MJ to split the money, but when it was a three way tie, I was floored.

However, I was not surprised on the revote that they dumped MJ and split the winnings.

The reunion was what I thought it would be.

It was a good season.

And as a reminder, UK Season 2 drops Friday!

Edit to add : They only dropped the first three episodes.

Re: The Traitors - Peacock Original reality competition

Man... the ending was wild.
Spoiler:
I saw it in CT's face that he was going to throw the red pouch and I thought they were going to cut to showing a previous scene where he and Trishelle discuss an elaborate plan to get it down to the two of them so they could split it two ways instead of three. I was shocked to see Trishelle voted for CT, but I completely could understand her POV that his flip flopping in the banishment was Traitor like behavior and maybe he was exploiting their personal history to trick her.

In the end, I'm glad to see two Challengers walk away with the win.

Yeah, I saw that too. It says new episodes on Thursdays, so I'm guessing they're doing the same thing as with US season 2. First 3 episodes drop, followed by 1 episode each week after that. I'll probably just wait until all episodes are up to binge it.
