For those who have not played the game, this is a deviation but trust us … it is the calm before the storm. Unlike The Walking Dead, this is headed to a specific somewhere.

Yep. But that was the point. They also said something happened that pushed her into this persona when we meet her.

Here is a compilation of her other work.

Has no one watched Yellowjackets on Showtime? This is just the type of character that Melanie Lynskey plays to a T on that show -- sweet-seeming suburban mom with a seriously f'd up dark side brought on by severe emotional and physical trauma. The roles are so similar that I was surprised the showrunners never mentioned it on the podcast.

Unless they can get people to stop shooting each other, it's not far off.

I thought this was a really good episode and a purposeful 180° from last week.

I think the show is going to live or die off the rapport of Joel and Ellie and this episode did a great job of showing them beginning to bond. The final joke where Joel finally “cracked” was perfect.

My problem with The Walking Dead was that they’d come across a new band of survivors in a town/settlement and then they’d spend the majority of the season there. I’m hopefully that Joel and Ellie won’t be stuck in KC dealing with these people for too long and can be on their way to Wyoming sooner rather than later.

I’d love to watch Yellowjackets, but it’s on Showtime.

That's Paramount+ with SHOWTIME thank you very much.

(What a weird rebrand)

Going to put this in spoilers since it is related to something in the game ... but it's a good KC joke!

Spoiler:
They really missed an opportunity for a KC barbeque joke with not making the KC folks cannibals.

One of the podcasts I found has a host who is from KC. He noted that they mentioned climbing 45 flights of stairs, so he researched it to see if KC even had a building that tall. Indeed, the tallest building in Kansas City is One Kansas City Place at 42 floors tall. However, according to the sign when Joel and Ellie went in, they were on B3, or basement sub-level 3. One Kansas City Place actually has 5 basement levels. I was a little cynical they would come in on B3, but there actually is a two level difference in ground level between the east and west sides of the building, so ... possible. See Walking Dead, that's called "attention to detail."

Which makes sense since Ellie said it was 42 floors and Joel corrected her by saying it was actually 45.
