Makes sense to wrap it up. 6 seasons is an amazing run.

Didn't know the creators were also from Jersey; that's awesome

It was mentioned at some point that they wanted to continue the Miyagiverse in future movies and they kinda hinted that in the letter. Is that still the plan? I agree that 6 seasons is a hell of a run, specially for a show that almost died due to premiering in a crappy streaming service.

The fact that this succeeded as it did still amazes me. Not because I think it's bad, this show is amazing, but, seriously, what are the odds of a Karate Kid TV show 40 years later being so great?

Then again, I would have said the same thing about Top Gun a few years ago :p

The best revival series for what we thought was a dead franchise.

It was YouTube Red, which nobody wanted to pay for. Netflix was the best thing to happen to it.

Youtube TV subscribers got access to Red content, so I saw it that way for season 1 and 2. Season 3 was already in the can when Netflix picked it up.

I've found that it's really gotten repetitive, so I'm glad to hear this will be the final season.

Re: Cobra Kai (Netflix) - The Sixth and Final Season

I'm guessing the season is still being written and very early in pre-production. So I don't think we'll be seeing this until late this year or early 2024. You know Netflix allows studios to take their time filming "binge" shows.

Please no Stingray in this one, he just annoying and can't stand him.

I've only watched through Season 2. I might have to restart my Netflix to watch the whole series. I do kind of hate the internet jokes that are out there now because of the series. Everyone saying that Daniel was the real villain stealing Johnny's girl. It kind of takes away from the fact the original Karate Kid is a beautifully made movie and not cheesy at all.

That's totally fine. The Netflix seasons have been pretty bad IMO with lots of terrible teen drama. I'll finish this one out.

Netflix's Tudum live stream just showed footage of the 1st table read for season 6. So we know at least 1 script is written. It was filmed in April before the strike.

I read it’s 16 episodes and they are splitting it into 2 seasons, so it’s possible they have one ready to go.

To be fair, that meme was out there well before Cobra Kai started and I wouldn't be shocked if it helped influence the show.

Did Barney pick up on an already existent meme, or did he start that on HIMYM? That's the first time I had heard that theory about the film.

Re: Cobra Kai (Netflix) - The Sixth and Final Season

Looking it up apparently Barney first expressed a liking for “villains” in Season 4 episode 15, including Johnny Lawrence.

Then there is this video from 7 years back that also took off (but of course was a joke that people started taking seriously):

Well that season four episode aired in 2009. In a 2013 episode he says Daniel Larusso wasn't the Karate Kid, it was Johnny Lawrence.
So was that the start of this meme, I wonder?

This is an excerpt from an interview the producers did about Obliterated

https://deadline.com/2023/12/obliter...ew-1235665497/

DEADLINE: Before you go, can you share an update on where you’re at with the final season of Cobra Kai?

HEALD: We are in the writers’ room working feverishly and we have been since the WGA strike ended. We are thrilled that the SAG-AFTRA strike has also ended. We are going back into production after the new year on the biggest, boldest season we’ve done yet.

DEADLINE: Do you think we’ll be able to see it in 2024?

SCHLOSSBERG: With the only caveat being that nothing else happens in the industry. That’s the hope to get this out ASAP for the fans who have been waiting.

DEADLINE: Any updates on the possibility of having Hilary Swank making an appearance?

HURWITZ: We are fans of Hilary Swank.

SCHLOSSBERG: Anyone from the Miyagi-verse could potentially be in the final season.

The caveat he's talking about is if the teamsters and IATSE don't go on strike this summer. Their contracts are up with the AMPTP.

They have started shooting the final season this week. I doubt they hold this until 2025. Hopefully 🤞🏼 it comes out either Fall or Winter.

Mary Mouser looks like she’s put on some weight from that picture.

Yeah, it seems her insulin therapy is the culprit.
