Season 3 was a fantastic return to form for the franchise. After the first couple seasons, they found their feet and really made it special.

Finally started this. Within the first twenty minutes of episode one I already knew this is better than any of the shit from seasons one and two.
I’ve only watched the first two episodes so far. Need to finish by September 30th since I cancelled Paramount+, but should finish way before then anyways.

Yeah, they should have just skipped seasons 1 and 2. S3 is great.

Just finished episode four. Truly wish this had been the whole show. I’m just going to act like the other seasons didn’t happen. One thing- the darker scenes look like total shit to me. Really blotchy.

I also liked all 3 seasons but the 3rd was by far the best.

I thought S1 and S2 were pretty fun as I was watching them, but when S3 dropped and gave us everything we've been hoping to see for literal decades, it made the first two seasons feel like a waste of potential.

If you go back in the season 1 and 2 threads, there were several here screaming with their keyboards how God awful seasons 1 and 2 were. I won't call anyone out and be a jerk, but there was one who constantly posted those damn Red Letter Media YouTube videos that were like 30 minutes long just trolling the episodes every week. I mean, it's fine that some here didn't like it. But, I felt like posting those videos every week was just trolling.

I liked the RLM videos because they echoed my feelings of frustration towards the show but I can see where the threads weren’t the place to drop them.
I was trying so hard during season one to like it. It had some decent bits and pieces, but also was filled with a lot of random member berries. There were a lot of times where it was like why are we doing this with these characters? Things just felt off, and then Picard died only to be immediately reincarnated as an android. Just bizarre.
I watched the first two or three episodes of season two and determined I had seen enough and didn’t want to hate watch it so instead I relied on the RLM videos to get my rundown.
I also feel like for a while with legacy sequels there was an odd trend of wanting to subvert fan expectations. Like- your favorite characters are back, but with a twist. I’m not really sure why that was a thing. I understand showing characters changing and growth, but a lot of it felt like going out of the way to make the worst decisions for no reason other than to do something unexpected.

Im just happy we got any of the seasons! None of the cast is very young. Most of them seem like they were on the verge of retirement or busy with other projects. For all of the elements to coalesce to make three seasons of this show possible is a gift. The last season was just the cherry on top. Wish there was more movement on giving Seven her own show. Jeri Ryan is a wasted talent that everyone writes off because of her beauty but she did a great job humanizing an ex Borg and showing us what it could be like to transition back to find your humanity. In Picard she showed us a whole new side with this mercenary thing and there is the question of what has she been up to since STNG ended and Picard picked up...lots to explore.

I thought Jeri Ryan turned down a Seven show?

Terry Matalas, the show runner for season 3, wanted to do a Star Trek Legacy spinoff with Ryan and a few returning actors. But, Paramount wasn’t interested even though it was perfectly set up.
Now Matalas has moved on and is the EP of the upcoming Marvel Vision series.

I agree. I would much rather have had P3 then Legacy season 1 & 2.
I didn't mind it at all. Got rid of the chaff. Kept Rafi who was the only character worth anything they introduced in the first 2 seasons.

Finished finally. Season three is everything this show should have been from the beginning. Very satisfying ending to the crew of TNG.
Also a damn shame that Star Trek: Legacy doesn’t appear to be happening.

And Starfleet Academy! In the 31st Century! Starring Tilly! For one episode!
I swear to cthulu Paramount fucking hates this franchise. You can look back at how shittily they treated the movies in the laserdisc era as a great example (no special editions ever).
I know they're selling it off or something, I truly hope it goes to somebody that really cares about it.

They know it’s part of the pop culture zeitgeist and there’s some money to be made there, but I feel like from their end the fans of the franchise aren’t ones they want to appeal to. So instead they try to appeal to a more mainstream audience and in doing so Star Trek has lost a lot of its identity.
Picard season three seems like the one exception. It feels like they knew enough people were annoyed by the first two seasons so they decided to remedy that and give us one great final season.
