I'm guessing that Kevin Bacon only agreed to do this based on the condition that he would get to sing in it.

Re: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+) -- premieres 11/25/22

an unexpected treat.

loved it.

I do agree that when I think of 80s action star I do not think of Kevin Bacon so a bit of a miss there. would've been better if they kidnapped someone else, but with that said Kevin Bacon was pretty great it in.

loved them ripping on actors... biggest laugh was Mantis telling Kevin Bacon to be yourself, but don't suck... and Drax saying "We hate you". Also Nebula saying "you can't hide (run?) from me Bacon".

Not sure it'll become a Christmas tradition, but definitely great to see these characters again.

My favorite line had to be Nebula, after Quill told her to go catch Kevin after he ran off, and not to kill him: "YOU CAN'T OUTRUN ME, BACON!!!"

Freaking loved it. Also got us to finally check out a couple of those Groot animated shorts and they were a riot.

I liked Nebula's line: "Wow. I guess all actors aren't complete pieces of shit."

Wow, strong disagree. It wasn't earth shattering or revelatory, but I found it to be a fun and charming little diversion. Watched it with the family and we all liked it and found it very entertaining.

There once was a director named Gunn,
He was fired but came back with Vader's son,
The Guardians were a hit,
Then Gunn quit,
And now we're stuck with Phase 4 shit.

Wrong limerick structure. You need a new final line.
"Now thankfully Phase 4 is done".
or
"But hopes for good DC flicks have begun".

I knew wasn't Optimus Prime and there was a person that said GoBots in the special, but I wasn't sure who owns rights...

The GoBots are now owned by Hasbro who also happen to own Transformers. Gunn confirmed in the comments they asked Hasbro for permission and they obliged.

I wonder if anyone who wasn't born in the 1970s knows what GoBots are...

Wow.. now if he could have only got them to agree to a Micronauts movie. Though I guess it's too late now that he's co-president of DC Films.

Re: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+) -- premieres 11/25/22

Loved this - such a fun treat.

Obviously Kevin Bacon was featured because Quill’s “dancing to save the universe” was directly inspired by Bacon and he’d already been called out in the films. Trying to feature other action heroes or shoehorning Star Wars in are real head-scratchers. There’s a direct through line for the Guardians here. I swear people try to make things way more complicated than they need to be.

Yeah, he literally asks if Footloose is still the greatest movie in history in Infinity War. (It never was)

I'm still holding out slim hope for the Micronauts to be a part of the MCU (Rom too!), no matter how unlikely it is. Goddamn "Quantum Realm" should have been the Microverse.

Shouldn't it be "There once was a DVDTalker...."

now we're gettin deep!

probably the best correct way to do it would be:

"there once was a 'Talker most anal"

and who knew the word you can't rhyme wasn't orange, but anal?

Ok babies:
there once was a 'talker most anal
whose devotion to rules proved quite fatal
though his pitch was spot-on
all the Otters moved on
Even though the first rhyme was totes banal

I'll show myself out

Thought this was fun and had a few funny parts. Drax getting tickled by the police bullets made me laugh out loud. "Stop! I'm going to pee my pants!"

Re: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+) -- premieres 11/25/22

I finally got around to watching this. I loved it. Laughed a lot and it also made me smile. Drax getting shot by the police and being ticklish with the bullets was hilarious. I loved Drax and Mantis' little adventure in Hollywood. I could have watched a whole special on that.

when Drax was beating up the guy in the Go Bot costume.

This kind of reminded me of those old school 1 hour holiday specials that used to air on network TV in the 80s and early 90s only with a bigger budget.

If you hated this, you're dead inside.
