It wasn’t just a restaurant. It was the most romantic restaurant in the city (LA) that a beat cop got a private table in, last minute.

The show is absurd but the cast play well off each other. I still enjoy it.

I mean, it’s a TV show. Might as well complain about Jessica Fletcher solving mysteries. Honestly I expected to see more people complaining about the “woke” portrayal of the “good guy with the gun” screwing things up.

I liked the action and the unfolding of the robbery team, though the forced Feds crossover is still awkward. I actually have been watching and not hating that show though a few episodes behind.

Re: The Rookie (ABC) -- Season 5 -- Premieres 9/25/22

I get the instructive nature of the GROUT thing but both Nyla and hubby were carrying cameras.
I don't know why Nolan did not slam into the escaping bank robber on the street. The crook is in a convertible sports car. Nolan is in a fortified SUV with heavy bars protecting the front. Is it LAPD priority to protect his vehicle versus stopping a guy driving down the street firing a machine gun?

I did appreciate the exchange where the men in charge try to warn the female cop about dating within the ranks, and she back talks that she can make her own decisions about her personal life.

Trivial thing that bothers me about TV shows: Wesley makes breakfast for him and his wife (two people). How many giant croissants were on the table? At least 4 maybe 5 or 6.

I'm not going to watch the Niecy Nash show, so I'll just assume they eventually catch the third bank robber.
Nolan's rookie continues to be annoying with all the horoscope stuff.

I'm only still watching because I'm a long time Fillion fan. The problem is that the show is not centered on his character as much as it used to be.

Yeah, that's Fillions doing. He did a similar thing on Castle and only shot 4 days of the week.

I mean, look at Mariska on SVU. Most of the time she has a few small desk scenes and she's done. Same with Ice T.

Re: The Rookie (ABC) -- Season 5 -- Premieres 9/25/22

I just saw last night that the show has moved from the 10/9 time slot to 8/7. In the past that would have meant changes in content and subject matter. I guess no longer the case.

I'm okay with less Nolan. I like watching the Chen being a cop show.

Standard episode so I guess last week’s story will be resolved in Feds as Cellar Door said. Maybe I’ll watch it someday.

Did anyone else expect the elevator opening of this past episode to be the "end" of the story the episode was about? Considering it was in a hospital, I fully expected to see how they all ended up that way. Turned out it was completely unrelated.

I didn't understand the elevator scene. Why was Clarkson in the episode, and what was supposed to be funny about it? And why was Lucy the only one who recognized her?

Yeah, I don't get it since it wasn't part of the actual story. Maybe she just likes the show and wanted a cameo in it?

1) Yes, I absolutely was waiting for the explosion (or whatever) to happen. Very weird that they included that unrelated bit in a hospital episode.

2) Likely Clarkson is a fan and expressed an interest in appearing, but didn't want to be made a big deal. Note that they never identify her.

3) All the uniformed cops are hurt and covered with dirt, but the two detectives are untouched. So the joke is that detectives don't have to get in the shit. (It's good to be the king!)

4) Melissa O'Neil won Canadian Idol.

Trivial thing that drives me crazy: Plot hinges on assigned cop leaving his post so the prisoner is able get food delivered to his hospital room, and the other cop is asleep on the job. Mean while Nolan and his trainee are seemingly able to be there AND AWAKE around the clock.

I read it as though they all recognized her, but were being polite.

Such a random Clarkson cameo. Nice to see Molly Quinn again, though.

I thought for a second they were going to write out Lucy, but she’s too big a part of the show. Can’t imagine Tim won’t get back into action soon, though.

I guess we will be seeing some Tim and Wesley working together on court cases stories.

Gotta admit I laughed at the opening scene in this week's episode, with the garage band.

Also, later in the episode that was a strange little throwaway cameo scene with Veronica Cartwright.

I would have enjoyed the scene more, but I couldn't hear/understand a fucking word the guy was singing. I had turn on the captions.

She was the murderer of the dead guy that Lucy found at the beginning of the episode.

Called that wrong. They couldn't get Tim into a new job fast enough.

Is it just me or is it weird that they all want to be in roles that put their lives in danger? Seems like that precinct needs some psych evals.

I assume the nature of the work attracts adrenaline junkies.

The release of adrenaline from the adrenal medulla naturally decreases with age.
So, you have adrenaline junkies, who find the rushes are harder to come by as they age, which makes them seek out or even create increasingly dangerous situations to get their fix.

At this point, nearly every main character has a different "role" and is primed for a spinoff.

We have Detectives with 2 cast members, Lawyers with 1 (or 2? Not sure if Lucys ex is now gone), Metro with Tim, Bailey with Fire/Chef/Forensics/Animal Control/Bomb Squad/Astronaut etc. I can keep going. I'm sure ABC would love a full night block with ratings as they are.

I'm glad the show got back on track after the terrible Season 3/early season 4. Killing off Jackson and bringing in Thorsen went well, as did the TO from Season 1 who left and was replaced with Nyla. Even the new Rookie from this season was heavily toned down and fits in better.

Considering I was ready to drop this show a few seasons ago to now, I'm glad I stuck around

No acknowledgment of Annie Wersching in this week’s episode that I saw. I wonder if they’ll do a wrap-up of the Rosalind storyline and include it there.

Ah, I forgot that. Thought they might do an acknowledgment screen tho.

Oh, was that the one where she was in custody and killed by a sniper? I do remember that now. And it was a crossover with The Rookie Feds, though that doesn’t exactly narrow it down.

Yeah, I think the sniper who killed her was one of her acolytes/protégés and he was going to carry on her 'work.' I don't watch the Feds spinoff, so I don't know how it was resolved there.
