According to the story, this is filming right now and will premiere in December.

Looks like they want to renew this for another season: https://www.darkhorizons.com/ford-mi...cores-renewal/

First images of 1923.

The Yellowstone Facebook page is hilarious. Seems like most of Costner's fans are senior citizens who can't or won't pay for streaming. There's like over 4K comments about people complaining why 1923 is a streaming show.

A lot don't understand why these shows can't air on regular Paramount network and have to be on a paid service.

The first teaser shown tonight on Yellowstone. Interesting hearing Elsa Dutton narrating it.

The full title is 1923: A Yellowstone Origin Story.

If you’re curious who Harrison Ford is, he’s playing Jacob Dutton, James’ younger brother.

The Yellowstone franchise seems to skew older and rural, which are probably the two demographics that are the least into streaming, so it is sort of baffling that they're making the spin-offs streaming exclusives.

I don't watch Yellowstone, but it seems to be The Sopranos for the Hee-Haw crowd.

Hee-Haw crowd? What? I realize you're just commenting without any context, but that's a stupid comparison.

Yellowstone is basically a Western mixed with soap opera and The Godfather. Stick to being a comic book historian

Still the most watched non-sports show for the 18 - 49 crowd currently on TV and pulls about 9m+ overall viewers an episode (Phoenix, Dallas, Denver and Raleigh being its most watched locations)

1883 was excellent, this looks a little hammy to me but I'm sure I'll give it a shot at some point.

New trailer looks great. Can't wait to see it in a few weeks.
Cara Dutton sounds Irish from how she was speaking in the trailer. Man, she sounds like a badass. I loved that line...."When your fight is with me, I kill much slower"

The scope of the show looks big as well.

I'm sure most of you don't recall, but this is a reunion of Ford and Mirren from The Mosquito Coast. They played husband and wife there

They are certainly milking this franchise for everything they can get out of it.

They must be paying Ford and Mirren a ton of money to be in this.

First episode is alright but if felt like way too much stuff in there. It was like three different shows. Maybe they should’ve done a two episode premiere. The native girls in the school stuff was interesting, but it felt really out of place.

I thought it was good. But it did feel a little disjointed with the B plot in Africa and the C plot with the Native girls and Nuns. But Ford and Mirren were both solid. And I did enjoy the A plot following them. James Badge Dale is playing John Dutton Sr. The little boy from 1883. So looks like he's 40 something. The Dutton in Africa is Spencer Dutton, a second son from James and Margaret. I don't think he was born yet in 1883. I loved Isabel May ghost narrating this episode. She did fill in a lot of blanks with plot and characters.

Elsa said in her narration that only 1 Dutton sibling lives. Presumably thats Badge Dale. Because according to the unofficial family tree, he's John Dutton's great grandfather.

I feel like this show puts the original series to shame even with the weird African storyline. I agree it feels a bit disjointed and seeing the roads paved with asphalt somehow made the town look too modern, not sure when the roads were paved but it really came off as a reenactment as opposed to looking like what I'd imagine the 1920s would look like. Ford and Miren were top-notch in this!

Isn't what she said only one lived to see their own children? So yes, that was John Dutton, Sr., Jack Dutton is his son. Doesn't sound good for Spencer then. Spencer was in flashbacks during last season of Yellowstone.

The budget is $30+ million an episode. Let that sink in.

Paramount is so malleable to the storyteller, or at least to me as the storyteller. They will add episodes because I need it to tell the story. You think about when you talk about a show that’s costing $30 million to $35 million an episode and you just asked for eight more episodes […] and realize I just asked for 240 million dollars.

I will have to try again but I lasted about 10 minutes before getting bored and switching it off. Harrison Ford looks really frail.

I wanna watch only to hear Helen Mirren say “This is the Yellowstone. You’ve got no rights here.”

I wasn't blown away by this premiere episode. The disparate sub-plots all felt like their own mini-shows and Harrison Ford should have probably retired from acting by now. The most gripping stuff was the school girl and her teacher fighting.

Yeah, the problem I have is Harrison Ford looks so frail, I just hope he doesn't fall and break a hip during filming because then they'll have to look for a replacement...

....or script him to be in a wheelchair from that point on.

Those images of Ford are just comical. Helen M. has aged well. Harrison...not so much. They should have had him eat a few steaks and large sides of mashed potatoes before filming.

This is where I am getting confused. Is John Dutton Sr. the one sibling who survived and one of his sons is engaged and the other is in Africa? I am going to make a guess that one of the Dutton boys doesn't survive their cliffhanger incident, as if falls in line with the first episode of the original series. Kind of sad to know that both Tim McGraw and Faith Hill didn't make it (that's who they are to me, not Duttons) and Hill died such a miserable death. Very Alien 3 approach to dealing with the characters. Then again, it does fall in line with what Beth said about the Dutton women not living very long lives. I wouldn't be surprised if the series ends with her dying herself. No way they would do it before then, as she is arguably the most popular character. Hope Kelly Reilly gets paid accordingly.
